  • First off, the tub and shower surround look quite nice and as expected. However, issues were noted following installation. 1) Minor problem. At the first shower there was an initial quick blast of water, then the shower head clogged up to a trickle with sediment loosened when the water was shut off to the house during installation. Also, it was later noted that the connections to each side of the fitting that connected the pipe that extends from the wall to the showerhead hose were leaking. It appears the shower head was not tested at the time of installation. 2) Major problem. After the first shower a large puddle was found in the basement, soaking the bottom of a couple storage boxes. BathFitter responded promptly to trouble shoot. A leaking solder fitting was found on the back of a joint behind the shower handle. There is an access panel in the closet behind the shower, however, the leak was in the wall above the access panel. The only way to access it was to remove the plate around the handle and work through the small space between the handle hardware and the acrylic surround, using a torch in an enclosed space. It took a couple tries but the leak was finally fixed. 3) When I was finally able to use the shower, I noticed it was not draining properly. After just eight showers I was ankle deep in water. I removed the stopper and noticed the diameter of the drain was significantly narrower than the original drain, but more importantly the drain appeared to be almost entirely clogged with some kind of white rubbery substance. I snagged it out and found that it was an overabundance of sealant that had gooshed into the drain. I tried to report this to BathFitter so that it would be on the record in the event the drain ever began leaking after the material was pulled out ut my call was not returned. 4) Clean up. The technician laid down a tarp in the hall and bathroom. No issues there. However, dry wall dust and chunks of drywall were left in the closet where the access panel is located and also fell into the basement. I picked up the chunks as best I could and then, with some trepidation, used my house vacuum to clean up the mess in the closet. The vacuum survived. However, when they came back to repair the leaking joint, chunks of charred wood and stringers of solder were left behind. This time the belt broke on the vacuum. Also, the technician had used my step stool and left it below the shower in the basement. The stool was covered in drywall dust which turned into paste when the leak occurred. I will have to try scrubbing the dried paste off the stool. After all of the above the shower is currently working well and looks nice.

  • Needed to replace our worn, well water stained, 20 year old bathtub liner. Since I do not like caring for tile grout, I decided to have a new bath tub/ shower liner installed. We needed replacement quickly for upcoming company staying at our house. I saw the "Bath Fitter"  display at the Novi Home Show in January. After researching painting the present liner I decided to buy a new one.
We were able to get a Salesman out to the house on the date we were available. We  were assured the work could be completed before our upcoming guests arrived.
There are many options to choose from : color, style, fixtures, grab bars, inside tub shelves, each has it's own cost to add on to the insert liner cost. This is what made the total cost higher than I expected. I had different coupons from the Novi Home Show & news paper ads I used also.
I was surprised that only one man arrived to do the job, tear out & installation. He worked very hard and was professional. The tub/ shower looked great, shiny and new when finished.
There was a problem with the shower faucet dripping about 6 months after installation. After a phone call to Bath Fitter a repair man was out to fix it within a week, no hassle. Minerals from our well water  interred the filter. He cleaned it out and we have had no more problems.
Now that I have a different color tub and shower area I need to redo my whole bathroom, plus it needs updating, Contractors have questioned "why" I had a insert tub/shower installed, instead of having a new tub and tile. The price would be about the same or less. My answer is that I don't like the upkeep of grout with tile. It is very easy to wipe down the shower insert liner and it looks clean and fresh.

  • They were very responsive to my call and questions.  They were able to set up an appointment for a couple weeks later, but put me on a list to come earlier if they had a cancellation.  They did have a cancellation so we were able to have it refinished earlier than expected.  The guy showed up on time, explained the process to my husband and showed him why they would need to charge us for stripping off a former treatment.  He was careful to lay down paper to protect the rest of the bathroom and did a great job.  They left us with a sheet of instructions of how long to wait, what to do in the future and what type of cleaning products to use and not use to make the finish last as long as possible.  They guarantee their work for 5 years as well.  So far it all still looks great and we love it.

  • Had read the reviews on Gabrielle's and saw that everyone said the work was always done great and his negative reviews were only for not calling back or not showing up and it seemed the times when he didn't show up were extenuating circumstances. Decided to take a chance on him and called him up to schedule an appointment for 4/20/12, for which he quoted $225 as his price. The morning of he didn't arrive at the scheduled time and I found he had left a voicemail the night before saying he couldn't locate my city on a map. Called then and his phone when straight to voicemail. Left a message with the information he needed requesting he call back to let me know if he was still coming. Called several more times the next hour but it continued going straight to voicemail. He eventually called back and left a voicemail saying he had been in a car accident on the way to my home, his truck was totaled and he was in the hospital. It is unfortunate if that is the case, but considering the other negative reviews it seemed too convenient.

Ultimately decided to go with another company who had a little higher price, but seemed more professional and asked more questions about the job I needed done.
