    H.O.M.E. LLC
We had HOME LLC complete not one, not two, but three home projects for us because we were so happy time and time again. The tile work in our backsplash is pristine and the tiling in our shower was so perfect, the company that came to install the glass door commented that we could save a couple hundred and just use one of their standard doors since the pitches and angles of the tile were so exact. HOME LLC just wrapped up finishing our basement - framing, drywall, bathroom fixtures, trim, you name it - and we LOVE IT. We felt perfectly comfortable going on vacation for a week while they worked because they treat your home (and your pets!) like their own. Highly highly recommend!! We will be searching out more home projects in the future just to be able to say hi again and see their master pieces because they are truly talented and great people.

    Grennan Construction
Fred Grennan runs a really decent and fair company. We have used them for (3) projects on our house and all of them have worked out great. Projects were completed on time and on budget. Fred has good follow through and customer service. The crews Fred uses have experience and get the job done. Our experiences have all been positive. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again should the need arise. I have recommended Grennan Construction to my Neighbor and my sibling and their projects worked out fine too.

    21st Century Windows
Beware of hiring MARK TEUFEL of Farmington Hills, MI (21st Century Window / Home Restoration). This review is about his BAD WORKMANSHIP AND A BREACH OF CONTRACT. April 2014: Our roof was damaged by hail, and he came to put a new roof on that summer. March 2015: first leaks in the kitchen, living room and upstairs bedroom. Mark came to fix it and blamed ice dams. He actually just repainted the drywall and injected insulation over one part of the roof (which now we believe that it actually plugged up one of the soffit vents and prevented proper air flow). We naively believed that everything was fixed because we trusted Mark. January 2018: we noticed leaks in the exact same areas that were supposed to have been fixed by Mark. These leaks ruined the previous paint job and now need a repeat paint job. Upon inspecting the attic, we found dripping nails, soaked particleboard, and ruined insulation from rust and wetness. All of this damage should not have been there if Mark properly fixed the roof in the first place. Mark blamed insufficient insulation and wrongly installed baffles, but why didnt he say anything about that when he first put the new roof on in 2014? When we asked him this question in January, he said he was not required to fix any insulation or baffles as per the insurance moneys. We found this strange, especially since a professional roofer wouldnt let something important like that affect his final product. (Another roofer later mentioned that it was Marks responsibility as per code to tell the homeowner if there were any concerns regarding insulation or baffles.) It is also important to note that Mark and his employees were the only people in the attic since he put the new roof on. His quick fix for this time was to cover the ridge vent with a green plastic tarp that we had in the garage. At this point, we started thinking something was strange (especially since the tarp would close off any ventilation and possibly cause mold), so we called other roofing companies to take a look. All 4 companies we had over agreed that Marks work was done poorly while cutting corners, including the following: -One area of siding was completely missing on the roof. -Missing flashing around chimney. -Missing flashing between house and roof peaks allowed bats/mice to settle inside. -Garage ridge vent was peeling off due to nails not being of proper length. -Breach of contract: our insurance moneys included replaced gutters, sky lights and other things. Marks roofing quote amount was exactly the same as the insurance quote, but his contract didnt specify that he was to replace those things. We believe he expected us to not understand the insurance documents. We also believe he overstated the cost of replacing the roof in order to match the moneys that the insurance company was offering, and scamming us of items that should have been fixed. This is all unacceptable since he was paid to fix the roof with insurance moneys; instead, we got more damages to deal with. We took him to small claims court, and were told in court by his attorney that our only choices are to go to mediation or to district court. We decided neither because it wont be worth all the money and stress to hire expensive attorneys, and instead chose to write our experience online. Buyer beware; you MUST do your research and get informed about the services you are hiring people for! We lost so much money on this, and just hope that our lesson can help others. He takes your money and isnt honest to admit the error in his work. He talks a lot and doesnt listen. He is not to be trusted to get the job done properly.

    USA Insulation of Detroit
The salesman was very nice and knowledgable about the product and explained everything very well.  The installers showed up early and got right to work.  When the finished they did not show me there work or explain what the had done they just took my remaining balance and left.  Upon further inspection i have found a few places where light is coming in from the outside so that also means that so is air at this point.  Also I had some chair that were being stored in the basement and they had used my dining room chairs as a ladder to climb into the crawl space.  Just seems to me that a company should have small ladders to get the installers into the crawlspace.  They also could of asked me because i have a small ladder in the garage they could of used instead of my dining room chairs.  But overall the company was very pleasant and good to work with and they do good work.  My only advice would be to watch the installer a bit closer.  I showed them how to get down there but did not go down to check on them myself throughout the process.

    Ace & Son's Insulation Inc
Ace and Sons came to our house to give us a quote within 2 days of my call. Bill was very thorough and suggested we add more insulation in our attic to help with a moisture issue. He suggested we do a treatment before they came back which we did. The workmen showed up on time and set up all of the equipment. They looked in the attic and discovered that the treatment we had done did not work. Ace and Sons told us they shouldn't put in the insulation until we had fixed the water problem. They referred us to a company that could help. I was so impressed with their professionalism! It meant they were not completing their insulation job that day (and not getting paid until several weeks later). The other company came out and fixed our moisture issue. Today the Ace crew added the needed insulation into the attic. The crew was very professional and cleaned up after themselves. I would definitely recommend Ace and Sons!

    GreenFIT Homes
What a great experience.  They showed up on time, were very friendly and gave me an estimate on the spot.  They did exactly what they said they would do...on time for the price they quoted.  They worked hard and cleaned up after every day.  What more could you ask for?  I highly recommend this company.

    Blanket Insulation Services

A good experience, especially considering the price. The auditor was polite & friendly and we had a proactive dialogue.

I had already made quite a few energy efficiency improvements in my home and was not expecting too many suggestions, but the energy audit did reveal some more unexpected areas for improvement in my home.

The only comments I would make are as follows:

    1. The blower door fan was not able to generate sufficient airflow / pressure to reach the required parameters for the test, due to my house having high ceilings and the associated air volume. That said, we were still able to perform the thermal camera analysis.

    2. I would have liked a report but, given that there were only minor suggestions, the auditor felt that there would be little merit in producing one.

Overall, I was satisfied with the service and would recommend Blanket Insulation to others.

    Brand New Construction LLC
It went well. He came in and talked about what he was going to do. He came in with the right equipment and knew what he was doing. He was willing to do other work but he wasn't actively house hauling other work. He told me a little bit about his company and he helped me fix a leak in the front door that had been a hardy perennial.

    Superior Spray Solutions
This is the second time we have used Go Green Energy Consulting.  They installed insulation and air sealed our old home in Rochester Hills.  After purchasing our current home we noticed right away that we had some issues.  We called Go Green once again and had them perform a home energy audit on our house.  It pinpointed the areas where we has energy loss problems.  As before they did a great job of explaining them to us and helping us understand what was most important.  We initially thought we needed a new furnace but they explained that was not the case we simply could not retain the heat and A/C because our house was leaky and not insulated properly.   They installed attic insulation and spray foam in the basement as well as installed 23 windows.  We noticed the home was warmer before they had even left!! They are honest and professional.  We have used many contractors over the years and none have been such a pleasure to deal with as Go Green.  I would recommend them to anyone and look forward to dealing with them in the future.

    Metropolitan Windows & Improvements Inc
I hired Bruce's company Metropolitan Windows & Improvements Inc to do the Angie's List Big Deal advertised as "LAST CHANCE - DEAL ENDS MIDNIGHT! $99 for Infrared Thermal Scan with Report!".
Bruce was friendly enough and arrived close to the appointed time.  We started on test and he seemed to just be randomly pointing at sections of walls and windows, not doing the entire room.  He moved very quickly and would only occasionally let me even see what he was seeing on the screen and would only look at other parts of the windows, etc. if I explicitly asked him.  When we were done he sat down and I realized this was not so much about providing a thermal scan as it was an opportunity for him to up-sell home services like insulation, etc...  Now I was not completely opposed to that, it worth hearing what other services are offered I figured.  But I wanted the detailed report, which was promised with pictures, so that I could get other estimates and opinions on solutions.
Bruce left without making a clear sale and then failed to return any of my calls or e-mails asking for a copy of the report.
In my opinion I received no value for this $99 service.  If I could have got a refund I would have.  I would not recommend using Metropolitan Windows & Improvements Inc for a service.
