    All Phase Service
This company is inept and unwilling to stand behind their work.  I had a problem with my hot water heater suddenly not putting out the same amount of hot water as would be expected.  I researched on the internet and it was quite clear to me that the problem was the "dip tube"
The employee that came out simply tested less than 10 gallons of flow through my kitchen faucet and said that there was nothing wrong with my water heater.  Never mind the fact that a  water heater is designed to run 2/3 of its capacity without significant temperature drop, which would be over 30 gallons for my water heater.  He did say that he needed to actually look at the water heater for his "paperwork"  I continued to tell him that the first 5 minutes was not the problem.  While he was looking at the water heater I ran another 5 gallons or so out of the tub sink in the same room.  I asked him to test the temperature and it had dropped 15-20 degrees.  He said this didn't matter and my water heater was just "old" and probably didn't work as well.
I then pointed out to him that the water heater had just started after 10 minutes and probably 1/3 of the tank being run out.  This is a clear symptom of the dip tube being bad since the cold water is not reaching the bottom of the tank and tripping the thermostat to turn on the heater until a significant amount of water hot water had been used.  He just told me that there was probably build-up on the bottom of my tank. Of course he didn't take the 5 minutes to open the valve and run a bit into a bucket to check this.
Knowing that the dip tube was the problem I ordered and replaced it myself.  Sure enough the dip tube was cracked off just below the fitting and was causing all the problems.
When I called the company back they refused to stand behind their work.  The owner said that a dip tube is "one of those tricky things" and that "it doesn't make sense to open up the water heater to check it"  he said he would have done exactly what the person that came out did and  refused to stand behind their work in any way.
I am not sure if these people are completely inept at what they do, trying to collect the service call fee without actually doing anything, playing some game in hopes you will buy a new water heater from them, or some combination of all three.
Bottom line, never use this company!

    Vredevoogd Heating & Cooling Inc
We started using this company when our furnace when out years ago on a weekend.  They were the first company that was able to respond to our needs on a weekend.  We signed up for their members club and paid a free every month to get free inspections and a discount on services.  Since we had never dealt with any other companies we did not really have any problems with this arrangement.  They were always very professional and friendly.  When it was time for inspections we did get conflicting reports at times from different service people.  We had been told for the last few years that our furnace would need replacing.  This year we decided that it was time.  We had Vredevoogd come out first for a quote - I was very disappointed that the quote they gave us for a new furnace and air conditioner was over $11,000.  This was the ONLY quote we were presented with.  When I said that was too high and we just can't afford that I was then given two other options in the $7,000-$6,000 range.  This was more of what I was expecting.  The part that makes me unhappy and instantly made me decided we would NOT go with this company was that they were ready to schedule installation of a new furnace and air conditioner for over $11,000 - there were no other options given until I said we could not afford $11,000 - after multiple quotes from other companies - big and small - we realize that we do not need to spend over $11,000.  We did get a quote this high from another company BUT we also were given options in the range of $7,000-$6,000 (without having to ask for a lower cost option) and told that we did not need equipment that cost over $11,000.  I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.  They are nice and courteous people but there are A LOT of other nice, professional heating and cooling people in Grand Rapids that won't try to get you to overspend.

    HEATH HEATING & COOLING
After multiple quotes from many other heating and cooling places Steve Heath by far offered the best price.  I was referred to Steve by a friend and I am so thankful.  He was able to install everything very quickly.  Not only did he install all three items, he also alerted us to problems with our duct work for our dryer which was a fire hazard and potentially could cause other problems.  He was very informative and I am very pleased with the work that was done.  I feel like if we had gone with any other company we would not have been informed of the problems with our duct work and who knows what would have happened.  Steve pointed out the duct work problem when he gave us the initial quote but upon further inspection at the time of installing the furnace, the problem with the duct was more severe.  Very thankful for a job well done for a great price!

The plumber who came out, Kyle (?), was very punctual, courteous, and capable. He receives high marks for these positive traits. I had to send him home, however, when the value of my Big Deal ran out and the rate jumped up to $180 per hour. Contrary to the Big Deal stating I was purchasing "Two Hours of Plumbing Services" I only received 1.5 hrs of plumbing services because this provider deducts drive time from the Big Deal's advertised "Two Hours."

Although the woman who called to schedule the service told me that would be the case, they already had my money from Angie's List at that point...what was I to do? I lobbied the plumber on site to honor the advertised "Two Hours of Plumbing Service" but as an employee he was not in a position to override the owner's ways of doing business.

If you buy this deal, you should know up front you are NOT getting "Two Hours of Plumbing Services" -- which makes this "Big Deal" hardly a deal at all.

Would I use this company's services again? Well, yes, but only if I am desperate. Between the "Big Deal" cost and the cost of the extra time over the 2-hour allotment, I paid close to $350 and the dishwasher is still not installed and the sink still is not hooked up. I will pay a handyman $20 per hour to complete thsoe tasks at this point...a much better value.

    Schaafsma Heating & Cooling
In 2011 I checked out several companies getting quotes and settled on Schaafsma liking their presentation, proposal and price. They quickly got started and their technicians were friendly, very courteous, and professional. They installed a Bryant Hybrid Air to Air Heat Pump system. The work was done very well, and we love the system. We have them service and check it out twice a year and have a service contract which reduces costs if we need more than just a checkup which is covered. I feel they are very good at what they do, and are very honest about their product.

    C & N Heating & Cooling
We had unexpected water on the floor around our furnace. We called Mike Brownlee of Cand N Heating and Cooling and he came over within an hour. He found a problem with the condensate tubing and was able to clean out the line and inspect the furnace. This is our second time using Mike's services and he has been accommodating regarding our schedule both times, and he is very reasonably priced.

Just having moved to a cold weather area, we were unfamiliar with the difference between a furnace and a boiler, so we bought the furnace maintenance check-up. When the technician arrive he was unsure what

to do as he specializes in furnaces and that was how the appointment was listed. He did the best he could, but to ensure we received the best service and to address concerns that he was unfamiliar with, he contacted his supervisor. Within 10 minutes his supervisor arrived and they performed the inspection together, so we knew we had gotten a thorough check-up. They did not try to sell us on a bunch of things wrong with the unit though it is from the mid-80s, but they did state that there would be an additional cost as pricing is different for furnaces and boilers. I was a bit upset at first, but with the quality of service and that it was our mistake I was happy to pay. Further, we discuss the solar tank (we have older solar panels) which was showing rust at the bottom. Again, the supervisor gave a suggestion of buying a water sensor in case the tank ruptures while we are home, but didn't state it had to be changed out immediately. He suggested moving to a smaller wall-hung boiler  when we are ready to retire the current boiler and solar water heating system, but gave a rough estimate of $12k installed. He stated it would be about 20% more efficient, but again it was just a suggestion. They stated they would rather have repeat customers than try to squeeze every penny from someone and get a bad reputation. We will use them again as they were courteous, knowledgeable (if one didn't know, he was willing to ask for assistance), and very informative.

The company was professional, took time to explain all features & benefits. Installation was completed on time, professionally I was completely satisfied.

Cost was competitive maybe a touch higher but it was fair for goods and service rendered.

Service provider was about 15 minutes late. My husband was there he did not realize i had already paid for the service so he wrote a check to pay for it. The service provider accepted the check. He had made up the bill not knowing it was an angie's list deal. it was made out for 64.95. It was advertise as a $99.00 deal for $59.00 so it was actually a $64.95 service for $59.00.
So we Saved $5.95 what a deal! Called the provider ack them to mail check back Said he would never received check.

    Energy Smart Remodeling

Please do your research, he claims to have made over a million dollars last year, and he did, in my opinion, by ripping people and suppliers out of their. This can be seen by accessing 63rd district court records as well as kent county circuit court, where you can see over a decade of court proceedings.
His business has been dissolves through state licensing and regulatory affairs and is no longer legally able to be operating at Energy Smart remodeling.
