  • I want to preface my review with this. Christine (Chris), who measured my windows and helped me choose the window treatments was wonderful.  I would refer her to anyone. She was a pleasure to have in my home, really knew her stuff and provided quite excellent service.  Unfortunately, the company she is working for was nothing like her.  Here's how a good experience turned bad.
    During one of our walls got nicked. It was not terrible, but enough damage that it required spackle and a paint job. I
    contacted the office immediately. I thought they would care and work with me to resolve it - especially after I just spent nearly $12,000 with them on window treatments throughout my entire house. This was not the case. 
    Initially they told me they would have the installer who was coming to my home to correct the first installation job (that's another story) check it out when he came back to our home. The installer showed up to my home, said he couldn't correct the issue with how unevenly the blinds were hung, checked out the damage, told us we would hear from his office and left.  
    I called Chris, the woman who measured and sold me the blinds.  I tell her that I am not keeping the blind in the bedroom if they cannot correct the spacing issue between the two blinds and make it even - it looked terrible.  I also tell her about the wall and what the installer said.  She apologizes and says she will handle it.  
    Chris sends out a different installer.  He fixes our blinds in less than five minutes.  It was a total inconvenience, having to meet an installer three times, but I was relieved it was fixed.  He too looks at the damage to our wall and tells me I will hear back from the office.  So I wait.  
    While waiting, one of our window treatments (top down, bottom up) wont stay up anymore - so we call them. They tell us they will have to order a new one.  We ask about the damage to our wall again and are promised a call.
    45 days after the damage, I am finally contacted about the damage via voicemail.    
    Here is the exact (transcribed) message I received from territorial sales manager, Joe Considine:
    "Hi there, this is Joe Considine, territorial sales manager for House of Blinds, um we have your blinds, we?re ready to install it.
    Um, and I understand that there is some?ugh that maybe you have a scratch in your wall or something.  Um I spoke to my
    installer, he does not think he scratched your wall, I apologize if there is some kind of um confusion on that, but um, he did not think he scratched your wall?he has been with us a great many years and he?s a pretty careful guy, um I apologize if your wall got scratched somehow um but uh I?m calling to get your blind installed, so its Monday, give us a call back!?
    I had smoke coming out of my ears.  I waited 45 days for that?  I called Joe immediately and the conversation was even
    worse.  He was unapologetic.  He didn?t offer to do anything to take care of me; he just kept insisting that his installer said he didn?t do it and kept referring to the damage as a scratch.  I finally corrected him and said it is not a scratch - it's a gouge a dent, a hole - not a scratch.  He then got sarcastic - "a hole?! Really? So it's all the way through your wall, to the studs?"  Exhausted and appalled, I asked for his manager?s information. At which point he asks me to send him a photo of the damage. So I do. 
    Two days later, I receive an email from Joe stating the following:
    I spoke to the installer this morning. He is a sub-contractor and will be calling you today to discuss the situation.
     
    within minutes of receiving the email, the sub-contractor proceeded to call my husband and insist he did not do it.  That?s it. No
    resolution, nothing. House of Blinds had him call me to tell me he didn'd do it!!  It was unbelievable.  Like no service experience I have every had before.  I hired House of Blinds, not the sub-contractor!!
     
    Steer clear.  This company does not stand behind their work. I am still trying to get it resolved. I hope this review will help spare others from the stress and outrage poor service can make you feel.

  • The process started out well.  I worked with a designer/consultant names Chris. She was very nice and helped me make decisions for my entire home.  The experience went downhill from there.  The installers, who I have now learned are SUBCONTRACTORS, did a poor job hanging the window treatments and damaged the wall in my nursery in the process.  I understand accidents happen, but I was turned off at the fact that the installer did not report the incident;  I had to find it after they left my home.  
    When I called about both incidents, I was promised a call back and never received one. I call again.  This time I am promised an installer will come out and fix the shades that were hung unevenly AND assess the damage to the wall.   The installer shows up, says there is nothing he can do about the gap between the three sets of room darkening shades hung in our window.  Looks at the gouge in the wall and leaves.  I call Chris, the consultant, this time and beg her for help - stating, I will not keep these blinds if this cannot be fixed, explaining that the middle shade just needs to be moved a smidge to the left and then the gap on both sides will be equal and look right. She totally gets it. Tells me to hang tight and she will call me back.  She does. She tells me she is sending a different installer this time.  
    The installer shows up - this is their third trip to my home. He fixes it in less than five minutes. Then tells us we will receive a call from the office about the damage.  I am relived. I thought the stress was over.
    Two weeks pass, one of our top down, bottom op window treatments wont stay up. We call the office, they order a replacement. Still no word on the damage to our wall.  Another three weeks go by.  I receive a voicemail from their Territorial Sales Manager, Joe Considine. And it was from here on out I received the worst service imaginable.
    In a voicemail message, Joe cheerfully introduces himself and lets me know that my replacement window treatment is in and ready for installation - then nonchalantly says, and I quote,
    "...and i understand that there's some, or maybe you have a scratch on your wall or something and I talked to my installer and he does not think he scratched your wall... I apologize if there is some kind of confusion on that or um, but he did not think he scratched your wall, he's been with us for a great many years, and uh he's a pretty careful guy, um I apologize if your wall got scratched somehow, but uh, Anyway, I am calling to get your blind installed, give me a call...."

    I was livid. After a month and a half waiting for someone there to acknowledge what had happened and take care of it - that is what we got.  It made me feel sick that I has spent just shy of $12,000 with this company.
    I call Joe immediately.  I express this concern to him. He kept referring to the gouge in my wall as a scratch and kept repeating like a broken record, that his contractor says he didn't do it. I was appalled.  What was I lying?  It was the worst service ever.  I asked for his manager's contact information.  Then he asks me to send him a picture of the damage and said he would get back to me.  After no response for two days, I send him an email asking him what's going on.  He sends me an email stating the following:
    Ryan and Jill,
    I spoke with the installer this morning. He is a sub-contractor and will be calling you today to discuss the situation.

    Following that email, my husband receives a call from Tony, the contractor, who calls to tell him he didn't to it over and over and over again.  
    I hired Eddie Z's, not Tony the contractor.  Eddie Z's should have taken care of this more quickly, more professionally, and treated us like a valued customer.  We didn't experience any of that. I will never use them again. Steer clear of this company if you don't want to risk a very stressful experience - this company does not realize they are in the service industry, nor will they hold their team accountable if something goes wrong.

  • This contractor was very price competitive.  They not only met the existing quote I had but beat it.  They did a great job installing the blinds and keeping things neat and clean and also fixed a cord on an existing blind that had not been put up properly and consulted on an issue I had with some shutters.  He did some work for my Mom a few months earlier and she was equally pleased.
