    The Manly Man Handyman
Went very well. Completed on time and on budget. Very good job with all phases of the project. Landscaper was exceptional. Painting, linoleum, carpeting, drapes, electrical and plumbing were excellent also. Very good communicator. Provide photo updates every week. Very professional. Highly recommended. Did a great job.

    Superior Woodworking & General Contracting
Scott and his team were fabulous. Scott's quote was much more thorough than other contractors, and from the beginning of the work he helped identify a significant structural issue that needed to be fixed by a waterproofing company. Despite timing delays on our end to make that repair, he was very flexible and accommodating to reschedule our work with him later in the summer. His team was responsive and polite throughout the job, with high craftsmanship. We really appreciated his integrity in letting us know about the issues he saw behind the paneling --- not all contractors would do that, but Scott has high standards and does the right thing.

    J & E Installation
I had a great experience. The owner listened to my needs, helped me pick out the doors and phantom screens. Everything from the my visit to the store , the visit to to my home to measure, and finally the installation of the doors and screens was very professional. Everyone was on time as promised. The installation went well. The installers did a good job cleaning up afterwards. And the doors and screen look great!

    American Accents
Contractor removed present side entry and storm doors ? installed new side entry and stormdoors (4 hours). Mike Davey shows up nearthe end of the installation and remains once the job is done and thecontractors leave. He has me take a lookat the door to see if it meets my expectations.I take a look at the installation and notice that the storm door doesnot close all the way. Mike attempted toadjust the door closer cylinder to no avail and advised me that Tom(contractor) would need to take a look. He also advised me that he needed tohave a sill plate extension installed (due to the incorrect measurements hetook). I pay Mike the remaining amountof the contract and he leaves. Due to the holidays, we agreed that Mike wouldreturn with the sill plate extension and have Tom look at the door closercylinder in January.
After he leaves, I take a closerlook at the installation job and notice a number of things that just don?t lookright to me. The next day I decide tocancel the check so I sent him a text letting him know that I felt more comfortableproviding payment once the job was complete. I document all issues of concern and send Mike a detailed email, alongwith pictures, of everything that needs attention. We connect on the phone and Mike addresseseach item individually. We settle on adate and time for Tom to come back out to my house.
Tom returns and goes about workingon the door. It takes him twohours. Now, keep in mind that when Tomoriginally left after the installation, the job was supposedly complete. So, if he came back to address all of myconcerns and he needed two hours in which to do that, doesn?t that tell yousomething right there? Tom wasargumentative and insulting. He mentioned
that he had been in the business for over 30 years. He didn?t like being questioned about hiswork and specifically called me nit-picky. I acknowledged his tenure and simply asked why, if he had been in thebusiness for over 30 years, he had to come back and fix this, and this, andthat, and this, and that (as I pointed to each of the areas of concern. His reply/excuse was that it was dark when hefinished the job. He took no ownership whatso ever and offered no apology the entire time he was there. Finally, he left in a huff.
    Issues:
    1. Problem:
The owner of the company admitted (while laughing) that he measured incorrectlyfor the door ? as a result, there is an inch width of wood around the perimeterof the frame sandwiched in between the two doors and it contains a horizontalseem right at eye level
    Suggested solution: ??paintit??
    2.Problem:
Absolutely no insulation or caulking was used outside under the sill plate oralong either side of the bottom of the storm door, which led to iceformations on the INSIDE of the house on both bottom corners of the door aswell as the adjacent walls
Suggested solution: An offer to spray some stuff in the holes (whythis wasn?t done during the installation eludes me)
    3.Problem:
At some point after the sill plate was glued on the floor, it was pulled up andrepositioned leaving a roughly ? x 4? glue residue on the linoleum floor
Solution: Shoe molding was slapped on to cover up the glue and gap(see #4), but no effort at matching it up with existing moldings
    4.Problem:
A gap in the flooring of roughly ? x 3? was left exposed on the floor wherethe old sill plate was ? no effort to cover it up
    Solution: See #3
    5.Problem:
Caulking applied on the right side between the molding and the wall ishorrendous
Solution: None; Mike Daveyfelt the caulking was fine and informed me that the contractor who applied itwas his ??best caulker??
    6.Problem:
There was a misaligned screw hole on the front of the storm door where a screwshould have been
Solution: A screw was forcedin the misaligned holes resulting in a bent frame - this cannot be fixed
    7.Problem:
A screw was randomly placed between the frame and the 1? wood shim mentioned in#1 causing a black, screw-width scratch mark on the white storm door
Solution: Caulk was put overthe screw so now just the scratch shows
    8.Problem:
Out of the 3 hinges on the entry door, 1 was missing a screw and a second onehad 3 silver and 1 black screw
Solution: Add screw to emptyscrew hole and exchange 1 black screw for a silver one ? this was the one fixthey got right!
A couple of days later, I hear aknock at my front door. It is dark out, Iam a single woman and I live alone. Iget visitors so infrequently that when someone knocks at my door, I get alittle concerned and sometimes worry. When I get up to answer the door, I see that Mike Davey is standing onmy porch. I am unpleasantly taken bysurprise and a bit confused. Typically, when someone comes over, there is some sort of communication by bothparties. Mike showed up at my house, atnight, unannounced. This type of behavior is unacceptable and very unprofessional.
Unfortunately, this was a very bad experience for me. I understand that this review cannot affect ratings, but I hope it prompts you to take another look at your relationship with American Accents. I would hate to think that another customer could go through something like this. Because I'm sure you have a thorough vetting process and a set of standards to which all clients must adhere in order to be represented on your site, I thought you would appreciate this information.
Sadly, this matter will never be resolved; Mike Davey was given the opportunity to complete the job to my satisfaction, but chose notto. I will now have to go elsewhere tohave the job fixed/completed. Personally, I would think that any upstanding business would beembarrassed by the lack of respect for the customer and negligence exhibitedduring this installation.
I have multiple pictures documenting all of my issues and am happy to share them if you'd like them for your files. Let me know and I will send them. I thank you for your time.

    Kopke Remodeling & Design Inc
Kopke contacted us immediately and sent someone out the next day to quote our job.  We wanted to replace a truly hideous kitchen floor without spending a fortune.  We remodeled our kitchen about 15 years ago and everything still looked good except the floor.  The dishwasher also needed to be replaced.  Mike came out and suggested using click lock vinyl flooring which could be installed over the existing floor. We went with him to the showroom to pick out the flooring and a new side door.  We agreed the job would be completed in mid-January (about 5 weeks after we met).  About a week later we received a letter thanking us for our business and confirming the job would be complete in January.  The floors and dishwasher were installed on January 12th and 13th, the storm door was installed on January 16th.  Everything was done quickly and professionally.  We couldn't be happier with the service and our beautiful new kitchen floor!

    Frank Thomas
Frank was punctual and very professional. He returned phone calls promptly, arrived on time and cleaned up at the end of each day. My finished basement had extensive flood damage, and he handled the drywall repair, trimmed and installed five new doors and crafted oak baseboards that match the vintage trim on the main floor of my 1924 house. He also was able to adjust his schedule when it became obvious that the baseboards would need shoe molding to accommodate the very uneven basement floors. Frank's work was expert, and I would definitely hire him again.

**UPDATE: Thanks for your response, but while the price was a surprise, it was not why we decided not to work with you. We went with another provider for approximately the same cost (around $300 less) because of their service and their attention to detail. I did share with you that someone had gotten five doors for the same price, but after additional research, and knowing the quality of doors that we wanted, we were willing to invest. Just not with someone who we didn't trust to order the right product.**

    Right Way Home Services, Inc.
Insulation - 1st experience. Estimator came to quote attic insulation in a suit...yes a suit. He took one look at the attic and wanted to talk numbers, no measurements taken. He asked when my wife would be home so he could give us a quote. Refused to give me a quote without her present. I told him to leave. Siding - 2nd experience. I told sales guy I lived alone so I could get a quote without the wife present. It took 3 hours to get the guy out of my house. Absolutely refused to take no for an answer and got an attitude when I made him leave. wanted to write me up for siding and have me cancel within 3 days. How ridiculous. Worst company I have ever dealt with. Will never earn my business.

    Brand New Construction LLC
An employee had made an error with scheduling the appointment.  Charles, the owner, called when he found out about the mistake and worked around my schedule to get someone out to the house to make sure the work was done before our wedding.  Harold did a great job.  He was very polite and professional, his work was excellent and the bill was for the amount he quoted from the beginning (rare these days).  He even fit it in his schedule to come back 2 days later to grout the tile.  Truly a great experience.

    Superior Woodworking & General Contracting

Scott was great to work with from start to finish.  I got quotes from 3 other contractors, and he was the only one who came out in person, measured to see what would need to be custom ordered vs. standard, and offered various price ranges for the doors.  The other quotes came in $700+ more than Scott's, and given his professionalism it was the obvious choice.  He's a very relatable guy, pleasant but businesslike.

Scott was very responsive via phone, email and text at all phases in the process.  I didn't have to hound him to actually get the quote (nice change from others I spoke with), and he very clearly laid out the pricing.  He kept us posted on when he ordered the doors, pre-scheduled the work, then when doors came in early, worked with us to move up the install date.  He and his team were on time, tidy, and efficient.  (I felt bad b/c it was an unseasonably hot day and our upstairs was a bit toasty without the A/C on- they were troopers).  The shape of our upstairs walls / corners / hallways is a bit awkward but he installed everything perfectly (and better than the previous doors to be sure).  We are very pleased with the work.

I can tell Scott is a good craftsman AND businessman - this is a winning combination!! Would definitely recommend him in the future and would use him again.

Thanks Scott and team!  Angie's list for the win once again.
