A3 PHAZE ELECTRIC LLCIt went great! Took about 6 hours from start to finish and everything looked clean and professionally done. Did a test run, they took some time and gave me a good understanding of how the system operates as well as answering any questions I had. Would not hesitate to use these guys again.- Michael T.

AControl Electric IncLoved working with Control Electric. They were professional, punctual and the result was high-quality.- Nic J.

AControl Electric IncAfter installing a part it still would not work. Steve was very fair about pricing to replace my old generator. And the replacement went without a hitch. He even took care of calling a plumber to re-fit the gas line which was included in the price.- Marilynn B.

AControl Electric IncI solicited quotes from four companies that installed whole house generators. The Control Electric quote was the lowest quote for a higher quality generator. They came out and estimated my electrical needs and recommended a Kohler 20KW generator with an automatic transfer switch and remote monitoring from my computer. It was soon installed, programmed and tested and works correctly.- Donald K.

AControl Electric IncI bought a whole house automatic generator from Costco. But when I got quotes from various so called reputable companies to do the installation I found that they had two installation prices. One price was for if I bought the generator from them and then a second, much more expensive price for installing a generator bought elsewhere. These other installers were very arrogant and aggressive. I contacted Steve, the owner of Control Electric and he quoted me a reasonable price, regardless of where I bought the generator from. The crew that installed the generator were very friendly and professional. They did an awesome job and cleaned up after themselves. Steve visited the job site to make sure that I was happy with the job his crew were doing. There were a number of warranty issues with the generator and Control Electric handled the problem and made sure that the manufacturer resolved the issues in a timely manner. I have had the generator for two years now and Control Electric comes and does the scheduled maintenance without me having to worry about it. One of the best companies I have had the pleasure of dealing with regarding my home. I highly recommend them.- Michael P.

AVander HydeIt went really good. Jason had called the day before to let me know things were a little behind, due to the other job he was on. He also stopped out to get an idea of what he was going to need to do the job. Jason came out on the 3rd (following day) and got right to work. By the time that he left I knew what needed to be done in case I needed to use the generator and how it all worked.- Jerome O.

AVander HydeIt went fine -- he was very good. They changed lights, wired a generator, and installed a new plug in our deck. I'd recommend them.- Jennifer D.

AVander HydeValerie and Bob called ahead to let me know they were coming. They showed up on time at around 8:20am and got right to work. Valerie spent nearly the entire morning outside on the roof (in freezing cold weather) upgrading our mast, power-meter, meter-socket and installing the 30amp outlet for the generator. Bob worked in the basement removing the old panel and getting the connections labeled. He then mounted the new box and together they got the new wires routed through the wall of the house and sealed the openings. They were professional and worked hard to get the job done. Bob left a little earlier and Val stayed until after 5:00pm to make sure it was completed. To quote the job, I was in contact with Ryan via email. He was able to give me accurate pricing and quick responses to questions. They were very clear about what needed to be done, and well informed of local and state requirements for my area. Pricing was a little higher than I expected, but not unreasonably so, and certainly not as much as some of the quotes I received. And after seeing the work involved, I would chalk it up to market forces/demand. At a time when finding good contractors (our neighbor is having a new roof put on, and I watched as several of their crew nearly got into a fist fight on the roof of their house) is getting harder and harder, I'm extremely comfortable recommending VanderHyde to anyone. Professional, prompt, and reliable.- Robert S.

DThe owner of Thee Electric came to my house promptly and quoted the job. He said they had immediate availability (maybe that should have been a red flag?). He quoted $3,495. The original quote was to run the electrical tubing under the porch, but when I was unable to pull the boards up he said the tubing had to go through the porch, and that it wouldn't be very noticeable. Now there is a giant electrical tube going through my porch, and there's absolutely no reason they couldn't have gone underneath. In addition, they didn't bother to pop out the trim, so it sticks out 1/2" further than it needs to and the trim is now foreverly embedded. The 3"+ tube is a trip hazard and awkwardly jogs through the room. It appears that the workers mistook the location of the hole they drilled in my house, which pushes the tube across an entire corner of the porch so the space is unusable and ugly. Some of the workers that showed up (not the guy that quoted) were terribly rude to me and the HVAC guy. At one point, the worker that seemed to be in charge implied that the electric tube was no big deal because my house wasn't nice. I didn't know exactly what this job would entail, and the work was being done in November. I told the owner that I would be home the whole time with my 6 month old daughter and he didn't bother to tell me that I would be completely without power for 12 hours straight, and then intermittent interruptions throughout the second day. I had to throw out everything in my refrigerator. Of course I knew there would be power interruptions, but I thought that was the kind of thing a professional would warn people of, especially when there is a daytime high in the 30's and there is a baby in the house. It was so cold by evening, but I couldn't leave with people I didn't know in the house. I bundled the baby up in winter outdoor clothing. This wasn't emergency work, and I could have easily scheduled it for spring. The job took much longer than the owner anticipated, but there were no surprises or unexpected events. Rather, the work simply took longer than quoted even though some items were not completed that were on the original proposal. The changes from the original proposal were that 1) a plug for a microwave hood was not installed, 2) no new outlets were put in the basement, and 3) the strange giant electric tube went through the porch rather than under it. As a result, my final bill was $4,295 - a full $800 more than the proposal, despite the fact that many services and materials had been removed from the original proposal. At no time was informed that there would be higher charges for any reason. When I called the owner he explained that running the tube through the porch cost more, although he didn't tell me when we talked about it, nor did he provide an updated proposal. To add insult to injury, I was charged substantial interest because I took time to analyze the bill and I was told that I was supposed to have paid 1/2 the cost upfront. If money up front were required, why did they start the job? Or if he had just called me up and said they needed money to start I would have brought it to him. Instead I was charged 24% interest on the "overdue" amount. I was only able to get the bill back to the originally proposed amount by threatening legal action which is something I've never even considered doing even though I've hired countless contractors for many projects on my homes over the years. I regret having work done by this company, and I have a strange ugly tube to trip over and remind me of it on a daily basis.

BIt went pretty good. I was quoted the price of $1500 - $2500 to take my 100 amp service from 100 to 200. They never came to the house to inspect the job... they based the price off of the pictures they had me send them. They said 3-4 hrs to do the work.. ended up being 5+. They said it was more difficult then they thought and charged me the full $2500. Brought the wrong box the first time and didnt have all the tools to do the job. Box cover was defective and they came right back and fixed it right way.

Recent Review:
FWe took our lawn tractor there fixed and they said they had a backlog of two weeks. Our yard is about 1 acre and my 80 year old husband is mowing it with a borrowed push mower. We went to check on it after a week. The broken part was laying there in plain sight. They said they hadn't even looked at it. Also they hadn't ordered the part, so they expected us to wait 2 weeks for them to take a look, another week for the part to get there, which was what they said it would take, then wait for someone to fix it. They were the factory authorized dealer and the tractor was still under warranty. We took it to another place and they got the part and fixed it in two days.

BThe connection relating to the generator went well, and was quite timely, albeit a little expensive. However, I also asked B and L to come back and bit on some other work, and they dropped the ball on providing a bid, despite several reminders.
