    Riverview Medical Associates
After a previous appointment and a prescription for Prilosec to treat an esophageal stricture, I began to experience unexplained weight loss. My calorie intake was not to blame. I scheduled a new appointment and got a different nurse, who said I was there for sinus congestion (huh?). I said no, this was a mistake, I was there for unexplained weight loss and wanted a scope of my esophogas scheduled to check for esophageal cancer. The nurse said she couldn't help me with this because I had started on this issue with the previous nurse, and that I would need to talk to her (I wondered why the previous nurse would be offended if I had a scope done?). Original nurse did call a few days later with an appointment for an EGD. so they did reconcile the problem. EGD revealed no serious problems.
Previous experience with Riverview has shown them to have a substandard appointment scheduling system. Often you cannot even talk to a real person. Their phone answering system is not the best.

Overall Riverview has been O.K. over the years. They seem to have a high turn-over rate with physicians and nurses.

    Dr. Michael J. Tucker
O.R.I.F. (open reduction internal fixation) surgery was performed by Michael J. Tucker on Sept. 29, 2014 to repair my shattered right calcaneus (heel bone). I experienced no infection post operation (PO) and no issues with proper healing of the incision. Recovery was shorter than usual for this type of injury/surgery. I began partial weight bearing about 8 weeks PO and worked up to full weight bearing by 11 weeks PO. After a few weeks on crutches and physical therapy sessions, I was walking with no pain, and very close to a normal gait by 15 weeks PO. I owe my quick recovery in part to a good reconstruction by Dr. Tucker. He reconstructed my heel bone using a plate and 13 screws. The outcome with this type of injury is not always as good as mine has been. There are a lot of factors that come in to play, such as the nature of the break, health of the patient and whether the patient has diabetes or is a smoker. I was 52 years old when I had my accident. Exactly how much Dr. Tucker was responsible for my good outcome, I don't know. I must also give thanks to God.

    Janet Guisinger MD
I had bloodwork done to test various levels, and it took two months for the doctor to review my bloodwork and get back to me. I called the office after a week, and the office staff were friendly and helpful and they were willing to tell me my numbers, but they told me the doctor had not reviewed them yet. Two months later they called me with the analysis provided by Dr. Guisinger. This is far too long to have to wait for blood test results, especially ones that can change on a week-to-week basis.

    Ruth Licht DO
The appointment went well. Her nurse Terry is great, friendly, gets down to business and helps move things along for Dr Licht. When the doctor came in there was about fifteen minutes of Qand A from both of us, lab results were discussed, prescriptions reviewed and refilled as needed. She did a thorough exam and even offered a hand to help me sit back up on the exam table. She is always respectful and has a good sense of humor. I also appreciate the fact that she trusts me and doesn't use an I'M THE DOCTOR attitude; when I tell her a symptom or concern she is thoughtful in her response, even allows me to object if I need to. It has always been easy to speak with her nurse Kathy on the phone when I need med refills. I couldn't ask for a better primary care physician.

I marked the office down on the billing end, but that's not their fault. As with most doctors in this area, she is 'owned' by a hospital, so they set many of the procedures and do all of the billing. When I've had dealings with the office biller, Marissa, she's been helpful and friendly.

    Connaghan, Dr. Ann. S.
Dr. Connaghan has been my primary care physician for over 20 years, and I have always felt as though we were partners in my health care decisions. She's professional, very thorough, and always takes time to listen.

The doctor told me that he would need to get some labs done before writing me a script.  Which was normal as I have moved a few times recently and had different doctors.  After the labs were done the next day (at a different office) the results were back but i was not called like the nurse said she would.  I was in a rush as i needed my meds refilled for a dose the following Saturday.  After I called Multiple times, i finally got a nurse who said she would call in the script.  I went to pick it up after work that Friday and the pharmacist said she was still waiting on the doctor to approve it.  Since the doctor was already gone, i had to wait til monday making me two days behind on me medication.  Monday came and I went to my doctors office to ask that they approve my script and they said they were waiting for my insurance to approve it.  I called my insurance in the office and they said no prescription was sent through their system for me.  Finally the doctors office found the approval paperwork from the pharmacy, sent it in and i was able to get my script.  Thanks to their bad communication, I was behind on my meds.
Another issue I had with this office is they tried telling me that my injection medication that i give myself is illegal and that i need to come into their office to get the injection.  I have been giving this to myself for 12 years, on time.  I contacted other doctors and pharmacists and no one else agreed with this office.  They all told me otherwise.  this injection is given out by the pharmacists and the patients are trained to give it to themselves.  So due to this, it seems that this doctor only wants to get more money from me by making me come in to get injections.

    Mackinnon, Dr. Kenneth M
I became Dr Mackinnon's patient when my previous Dr (Fred Youn) passed away. They seem very much alike personality wise and I thoroughly enjoy my visits with Dr Mackinnon. Very knowledgeable, professional, and seems genuinely interested in my health and well being.
Expect to wait 6 weeks for an appointment, but aside from that I have no complaints.

    Lee, Dr. Daniel
I was very satisfied with his service. He was very excellent and very available. He calls me to ask questions regarding my condition which is unusual. We have such a very good relationship and wonderful communication. He has a very spacious office now; the examination room and everything were very nice. He has very nice staff, very professional bed side manner and very good treatment. He also has a very good billing and administration. I never had a problem with them regarding my insurance.
