Everything went very smoothly. Guys showed up everyday and worked all day. Complete tear-off of existing shingles and replaced some boards and reshingled. Everything cleaned up afterwards. Very happy with work performed. Old shed was taken down and disposed of. New shed built to my specifications without blueprints. Very happy with finished project. A 12'x 12' two story gambrel shed with a covered porch on one side. I would definitely recommend John McManus of Fair and Square. In fact, he may be doing an addition, new roof and siding on our cabin in Northern Michigan later this year. His employees were friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend this company.

Moving from a large century old home into a seventies ranch created a storage issue for us. We were desperate for additional space, but could not just throw in a cheesy pre-fab shed and maintain the aesthetics of the neighborhood. We asked John to bid the project as well as work with us to design it. The large storage shed was stick built and looks like it belongs in the neighborhood. We love it! I asked mid build to add several windows which I know is a pain and John took it in stride. The garage addition is genius! We have a nice low profile bump out that allows access from both the interior of the garage and the exterior for mowers and snow blowers. It is seamless and again looks like it was original to the home. We also had to install a bazillion new windows including trim wrap. John measured and helped us order the windows and had them installed in two days upon receipt. HUGE difference in this house! I have referred John to several neighbors and the feedback has been great. I am also a Realtor and do not hesitate to send clients to him when they have updates or repairs. I know that they will be met with a highly skilled and professional contractor that is a straight shooter and competitively priced. The quality of the work is always exceptional and there aren't any surprises with cost. I cannot say enough about the solid workmanship that John and his team provide. Definitely an A+.

When I called them to get an estimate, he (John) called me back to set up a time to look at the job. I made the mistake of mentioning what another contractor was going to do the job for, but only on one door . I really wanted both doors done. I explained that some of the frame and hardware might be able to be reused, to save money. He left and called back shortly thereafter, to give me his estimate ( which was $550.00, $50.00 more than the previous contractors estimate for one door). I accepted his offer and he said he'd 'put me on the schedule'. After a few days had gone by, I called him back to see if/when I might be on the schedule. He said it was a 'small job' and that he'd called me the day of, to let me know he was on his way. The gentleman he sent over, was very pleasant, friendly. However, once Mike had came back with the materials needed, 2 sheets of T1 11 and 4 or 5 treated 1 x 4 x 8 and a box of coated screws, he set things up in the yard. I had gone back into the yard to check on things and to offer him a drink and I see and quot;MYand quot; 100ft extension cord being used. He didn't ask to use it, he just went into my barn, got it and hooked it up to the outside outlet. He said my cord was short so I used yours. I was always taught to ask before you borrow something.
The job took about 4 hrs. The doors look good and fit correctly. Both Mike and John ( owner ) cleaned up. I asked for a detailed bill and got a bill with instructions of work to be done. I'm not sure what the going rate is for construction by the hour, but in the future, I'm going to do a lot more homework on cost of materials and labor.

He also put in 6x6 posts for my fence gate, hung a door, and did windows and siding. Price reflects shed. There are no surprises. He is a hard worker, shows up early, and even worked on the weekends for me. He does excellent work.
