    Haley Mechanical
This is the first time we've used Haley for our heating and AC systems, and it went extremely well. It was a big job, but they completed it within a day and a half. The sales person, installers, and office staff were all very nice, professional, and easy to work with. The new furnace has been working great and makes the house more comfortable - we got the 96% efficient unit with two stage blower. I would highly recommend them.

    Hutzel Plumbing & Heating Company
I booked someone to come do maintenance on our boiler and radiators. They gave me a 4 hour window, so I took half a day off work. They didn't come. When I called the office, they said that the worker had to take the day off work, and no one had thought to call me. I asked if they could come on a weekend on an evening so I didn't have to take more time off work, and they said no. I tried to book something at 8am but they couldn't accommodate the days that worked for me. They were not apologetic.

    Blanket Insulation Services
The company gave me a very expensive quote for adding cellulose insulation to the attic and sealing the attic. I also got a quote from Attic Pros for about half the cost. When I told this to Shane, the salesperson I was talking to at Blanket Insulation Services, he told me that the Attic Pros' "pricing wouldnt even cover the cost of materials necessary, not to mention the labor". Nonetheless Attic Pros came and did a great job insulating and sealing the attic, and they assured me they made a healthy profit. So I think Shane was misleading me. Later I tried to get Blanket Insulation Services to insulate the rimjoists. They sent me a new quote for this work and I said I wanted to go ahead and schedule. Then a few days later they told me that actually they wouldn't come just to do the rimjoist insulation, because that wasn't a big enough job to make it worth it for them. They wanted me to pay for extra insulation, to make it more worth their while. I asked them to honor their quote but they refused, saying that because a deposit hadn't been received yet they weren't bound by their quote.

    Attic Insulation & Ventilation Pro's
Great! They did a good job. The total was 3192, which was quite reasonable in comparison to another quote we got. The three young men who came up got it all done in one morning, and were very respectful and competent.

    Dinse Contracting LLC
The project went well apart from having to update the furnace & water heater but that does not reflect on Dinse construction, which was great. These were practical updates when getting the project done and Brians company was very helpful in getting estimates and keeping the project moving. They budgeted us time to get these done but did not slow up work at any other time as they have their own carpenters, plumbing, electrical, tiling, drywallers, painters, etc. This was a great relief as we were able to get the project essentially completed before family came to town. The quality or work was great, more than I could have asked for! Also, a couple small things we had to add or have changed after the work was done, Brian was obliging. Brian does the research and comes up with ideas to solve problems and get best quality products/outcome at a reasonable price! Last project I had to do this myself with another company. I loved the close communication Brian does to minimize delays and misunderstandings and I absolutely love the record keeping/balance sheets they do online that you can access yourself at any time. I will rely on this company in the future for any projects I can get them involved in as it minimizes stress for me any makes the whole process so much more pleasant than other projects we have done with other companies. They have a wonderful crew who are smart, communicative and polite. :))Thanks so much Dinse construction!!

We have contracted with Brian Dinse multiple times and this most recent time was as high quality as the other projects. The main bathroom needed a complete gut to the studs and upgrade. Brian and his crew showed up on time, every day and worked diligently to achieve a total remodel. They handled all aspects of the work from cabinetry to countertops to lighting and tiling. They also handled ordering and coordinating delivery from the tile shop and the bathroom fixtures store. I appreciate Brians professionalism, customer service orientation, practicality and courtesy.

    1st Heating and Cooling Co
Great experience. Ryan was a pleasure to work with. He listened to our objectives (better cooling in upstairs bedrooms, and quiet operation), gave thoughtful advice, and patiently answered questions. He's very knowledgable and willing to share what he knows to do the job right. We've had the install for a few weeks and the house is noticeably quieter and much better cooled. We were really happy with the whole experience.

    Hutzel Plumbing & Heating Company
Gas company detected a likely gas leak in a line leading to the dryer, capped the line and suggested a line and shutoff valve replacement. Hutzel came spent maybe 10 minutes looking and the line and then simply turned the gas line back on and said they couldn't detect a leak so it was fine. Gas continued to leak, contacted them and was told they didn't believe it was the line and probably the dryer. Hired other professionals to come in and do the job right and the gas leak is gone.

    Hutzel Plumbing & Heating Company
Furnace stopped working as the fan would no longer run. Called Hutzel on Friday and they sent someone over quickly and diagnosed the problem as a bad motor that would cost $1200 plus labor to fix. I told them to go ahead but a little while later they call and told me that they couldnt get the part until Monday. I was away when the technician diagnosed the problem but when I returned home Friday night I noticed the motor controller has been removed from my house. I thought that was strange since they told me the motor was bad so why would the technician take the motor controller. Meanwhile, I had to borrow a bunch of space heaters to keep my house tolerable. On Saturday morning I did some research and found out that the controller has a common failure where a themistor part burns out. For a temporary fix this part can be replaced with just a wire to get the furnace up and running again. Since the controller was gone I had no way to determine if that was the furnace issue. On Monday morning I called and said I wanted my controller back. They said they were very busy and couldnt get anyone out to my house that day to return it so I drove across town to get it back. As soon as they handed it to me I realized it had the bad themistor. I took it home, put in the wire jumper and had my heat going again. I ordered a new themistor ($10 for 2) on the internet. Not long afterward the technician showed up at my house to replace the motor. I was surprised he showed up since I had been told they were too busy to send anyone that day. When I explained what Id discovered the technician said they dont repair controllers. They only replace the entire motor and controller which cant be purchased separately. Im disappointed that Hutzel couldnt fix this problem when they first came out since this is a common problem with an inexpensive fix. Instead I had to deal with space heaters and do the furnace repair myself.

Dunrite Heating & Cooling Systems Inc.
We called Dunrite out because our furnace condensate pump was leaking. A service fee ($95 if I remember correctly) was discussed over the phone, with any parts and labor being above and beyond that. Fair enough, we thought. The tech showed up and began working, later emerging from our basement with a $350+ invoice for cleaning the condensate pump hose and then performing some sort of furnace cleaning procedure. None of this was discussed or agreed upon during the visit and we were certainly surprised by the price tag. We begrudgingly paid and I followed up with them via a phone call. It wasn't just the price, it was the fact that the technician never explained the problem or gave us the option of having him do the work versus only charging the service fee before handing us an invoice. We also didn't ask for any further furnace cleaning to be done yet we were charged for it. The woman answering the phone was very defensive when I questioned their policies or pricing. She admitted that the tech should have told us what was wrong and the cost to fix it before proceeding - their invoice even includes a place for this to be filled out and for the customer to sign and agree to the work to be done. That didn't happen! She also told me that the state (presumably Michigan) dictates their pricing and that these costs are fixed. I call BS but am not in this business so didn't push back. She promised to speak to a manager and get back to me - which never happened. I called once again near New Year's when we had an unrelated furnace issue, left a message asking for emergency service and inquiring about the prior trip and bill - no return call there either. Perhaps they don't want to deal with me any longer. I ended up calling Koch and White and had an experience that was better in every way. I also confirmed that the Dunrite service call should have cost half as much as it did. I'll be using Koch and White from now on.
