    They provide an orientation about a month before the surgery to prepare patients for the process. The nursing staff was pretty responsive and helpful.  The physical therapy staff was very good as well. I was able to order anything on the menu at any time. While the foods at hospitals are typically not the greatest, the food here was pretty good! Their cafeteria has a very nice selection as well. I didn’t have any bad experience at all during my stay.

    BLUE CROSS & BLUE SHIELD
    My biggest problem with BCBS is our inability to really deal with an informed, empowered person when we have a unique situation. We have been trying to get a particular preventative procedure paid for, but it is unclear where to send letters of appeal, or who to contact in these situations. We have tried contacting regular customer service, but they are never any help. So that's a little frustrating.
    Otherwise, it's a fine insurance provider. They have LOTS of offices in their network, I've never had any trouble with that at all. I love not needing referrals. They have a pretty decent website for checking coverage, deductible/copay statuses, EOB's, etc.

    The paperwork/billing/customer service phone can be a little slow, but my biggest complaint was handled to my satisfaction. In general, I think it's excellent service for a reasonable price. The coverage is very comprehensive.

    St Joseph Mercy Hospital
    Dr Manak Sood performed open heart surgery. I was pleased with all aspects of hospital and physician service. Dr. Sood did a double by-pass on my heart . The shoulder graph has worked fine. The leg graph worked for 2 months, then I had a slight heart attack. It was a thinner vein.
    Dr Qureshi performed a 3 hour stent insertion. It was at the "window maker" artery. He said he almost gave up, but the 2-15-06 operation worked.
    It is now 5-12-13 and I am thankfully fully able to function actively. I have been off prescriptions for 3 years, and am enjoying excellent service for my wife and I from my D.O., Mary Greiner and her staff.

    St. Joseph Mercy Hospital know what they're doing. This is a hospital with great technology, great doctors, great nurses, great diagnosticians and technicians. They're all great. It's a fabulous hospital.

    I used the services of St Joseph Mercy Maple Health Building for urgent care. Comments: I liked the working hours that they were open.  I felt the doctor did a good work of explaining everything about my problem and what was causing it.  I went with a co-pay option.

    My overall experience with them was mixed. It goes from very good to very awful. The last that we've been there was good. I saw my doctor, a General Practitioner, and adjusted some of my medications. I will probably use them again. I don't really have a good alternative. I am very upset about the way that medical care is organized. I have medicare and I have Blue Cross as a supplement and the hospital bills in a very crazy way. They will bill 100 of dollar for something and they will tell me that they've negotiated with medicare or with Blue Cross and they charged a whole lot less because of this negotiation, so I am left with the feeling of what is the price and they charge something like thousands of dollars and something very little and it is paid for by the insurance company, so I don't really understand what is going on. It is all behind the scene and I think that the insurance companies are being ripped off and I am very unhappy about that. My toe is hurting me again. The nail is going back in and it split and I'd like to see somebody but I don't really know whom am I going to see. The doctor that I saw initially, I don't think did a very good job. I didn't like what happened about the billing I don't think I want to go back to see him again.

    University of Michigan Health Systems is one of the biggest hospitals in the world. It is one of the more progressive. They are way up there in technology. They are up there in the leading edge of health care. I will continue to use them.

    They are the best. They have access to the very best specialist. There is about 1,500 beds, but they make it seem so personal there. It is absolutely wonderful and organized there. The neurologist  there will talk to you by email or phone there. They can pick and chose who they want to work there. They are not easy to get into as a patient because they are so good.

    It’s very favorable for us. Particularly the eye doctor, he is very accommodating, when we call him up and have a question he usually gets back to us on the same day, describes what we might need, and if he wants to see us he’ll ask us to come in. He’s been a good doctor. The availability is not excellent because it’s really tough as he is a doctor with a lot of patients, running all over trying to please everybody. The office environment has been improved substantially and they are doing a good job. They are really bad at billing; I get a bill two months after I visit the doctor.
