Furniture Refinishing reviews in Ann Arbor

    Kuebler Furniture Works, Inc.
The table is hexagonal with pie-shaped pieces on the top. That wood was different from the outside of the top and the sides. They were up front about not being able to repair some scratches without altering the original further. The pie-shaped pieces they replaced were perfect matches. They even held the table until work was done on the room where I planned to put it.

After cushion broke again I returned to the store, showed them that their repair was worthless, and requested my money back. They returned my money, and repaired the cushion again, this time for free and by replacing the wood and not simply gluing it. They called within a day to say it was ready, and we will pick up tomorrow. While I appreciate the refund, attention, and quick turnaround I dont understand why we did not receive adequate attention or repair the first time.

The transformation from a 20 year old former butter yellow Thayer Coggin sofa that had turned cream color with dirt all over, into a beautiful butter yellow color once again.  I then had the pillows plumped up by having more fill wrapped around the cushions, and the sofa looks amazing!

The entire process started about 3/1/15 when Brian came to the house to evaluate the piece and give an estimate on the refinishing and repairs. Littlefield and Sons are located in Ann Arbor at 251 Jackson Plaza Dr. Suite K, , phone number 734-668-1700. Since we don't live in Ann Arbor, the charge was $ 40.00 for an in home estimate and if they took the job it would cost $ 80.00 to deliver it back to our home, again because we don't live in Ann Arbor. All of the above charges are waived if you live in Ann Arbor, even though I was paying
    $ 1000.00 for the job.
Ok, so we explained that we wanted the cabinet back within 4-6 weeks and Brian told us that that would be no problem, which would have had us getting the cabinet back no later than April 15, 2015. By the end of April we had not heard anything from Brian. I called on Near the end of April and left a message for Brian. He got back to me a couple of days later. He apologized, but explained that he had had to take on a high profile job that had come in after ours and since ours did not seem that important to get back that soon, he went ahead and did the other one first, then he had some family problems he had to attend to. Oh and by the way we had given him
a $ 300.00 down payment, and provided our own interior paint. He wanted $ 500.00 down but I balked at that. Anyway I then asked him how far along was he at that point and he advised that they had just gotten the door off and had just started taking the old finish off. So I think when I left the message, Brian went, Opps, we better get back on that old cabinet
My wife and I left town beginning May 3, to be gone about two weeks, thinking the china cabinet would be done by the time we returned.
WRONG. Upon returning I called Brian again asking about the status of the cabinet, still working on it he said, should be done in a couple of weeks. We then had a pretty heated conversation, that I won't completely go into, but the one result that came out of that was that he would deliver the china cabinet free, because I was concerned that if I picked it up and something got damaged on the way home, then I was libel and not him.
Ok, so Wed. June 17 got here, day of delivery. Finally. We are very excited to finally see the cabinet. The cabinet was my wife's grandfathers, who passed it down to her father, who gave it to her.
Brian arrived and asked if I would come out to the van and help him unload the cabinet as he didn't have the extra help to bring along just to unload the cabinet so I helped him unload and rolled the cabinet up the ramp to our back deck and brought it in the house.
The refinish was beautiful, the interior paint wasn't bad, except where they scratched the back panel in a number of places when they put the shelves back in, and I might mention, they were upside down. When I mention the scratches and where the blue paint was knocked off, Brian told me to just get a cue tip and touch it up, no problem. ( $1040.00 ). Yea right.
I paid Brian the balance due, because the scratches weren't worth fighting over. Brian left to go back to his shop. Almost before he left the driveway, my wife, as she was inspecting the cabinet, told me to look closer at the glass in the cabinet door. Ok, so I did. The glass in the door was very clean and very clear and brand new. It wasn't the 100 year old glass that had left this house almost 12 week ago. Our antique door glass, that Brian had promised to protect and take care of himself had been replaced with brand new modern glass. WOW.
I immediately called the office and had them to tell Brian to call me ASAP. A few minutes Brian called and when I told him that the glass had been replaced, I almost thought he was going to say, " why of course it was" but he told me that one of his techs put the old glass in place, put the trim in place, then used a hammer and nails to secure the trim. Nails in 100 year old Walnut, I don't think so. The old glass shattered. Anybody would know better than that, but Brian didn't bother to tell us, maybe thinking we would not notice, in fact, he said on the phone, some people don't notice things like that, like us being in the country and not in Ann Arbor, we weren't high class enough to notice things like that. Then he said, well I did replace the glass didn't I and you don't expect me to find and replace it with antique glass, do you? ( yes I do. ).

I would NOT recommend Littlefield & Sons to make repairs on furniture. They took over twice as long to refinish the cabinet than they originally agreed to, then tried to or actually did hide the fact that they broke the antique glass in the cabinet door, only admitting to it when my wife and I found it and confronted the owner Brian. Then refused to replace the antique glass with comparable antique glass.
My wife and I will have to do that at our time and expense. That type of glass is not cheap. The breakage was due to their carelessness.
    VERY UNPROFESSIONAL....

Everything went very well.  We went to their showroom to discuss the job.  We selected the material (with their input)  and set up a date for them to pick up the sofa.  They quoted us a price based on labor and materials.  They completed the work in the time they had specified.  We were very satisfied with their workmanship, professionalism and  friendliness.  They were extremely enjoyable to do work with, making the whole process a very good one.  The sofa was reupholstered 13 years ago, and looks as good today as it did when they completed it--no wear whatsoever!  We would recommend them and use their services again.

Duncan did an amazing job! I needed the repair done on a tight schedule, and he was kind enough to rearrange some of this other appointments to accommodate my timing needs, and came to the house for the repair. He called before he arrived and was very punctual. He not only repaired the broken legs on an old wardrobe, but he touched up all the other nicks and dents on the piece. He worked very quickly, and the wardrobe looks absolutely fantastic. It looks worlds better than when we had purchased it. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for furniture repair.

    BK Woodworking
The experience was excellent from beginning to end.  I contacted BK Woodworking on behalf of my 85 year old aunt who had incurred considerable damage in her home from a burst water pipe.  Because this was an insurance claim, we did not get competitive quotes so can't speak to price but took the advice on Angie's List of the very positive reviews this company had from other members.  The father and son team arrived at the promised time and couldn't have been friendlier ... charming to my aunt!  They were extremely helpful in disassembling the antique sewing machine before taking the cabinet back to their shop.  They recently delivered the refinished pieces to my aunt and they honestly look more beautiful than they ever did before the damage!  The most important part of this review is the integrity this company showed towards my aunt.  They accidentally charged her several hundred dollars more than the original quote at the time of delivery and my aunt unknowingly paid it.  The following day, they returned because they discovered the overcharge and refunded the amount she overpaid.  My aunt hadn't realized the mistake but was soooo grateful for their honesty (as was I)!  My aunt is so happy with this company, she is having them finish another treasured antique.  Thank you BK Woodworking ... we give you a two thumbs up!

The set looked like it was brand new . He replaced the siding with vintage siding. It took several weeks but he had to get the right material. Everyone who has seen the set before and after can't believe the transformation.

I thought this was just an old painted rocker that just felt good to sit in.  It had seemed to always be in the family.  He removed "a hundred coats of paint", and took the rocker apart to refinish it.  It turned out to be a solid oak rocker over 100 years old with wonderful oak grain markings that stained beautifully to our liking.  Will definitely have more work done here.

Steve and Scott arrived on time. They initially recommended against having the chairs repaired as the chairs were not worth the cost. They agreed to do the repairs after I told them I could not afford a good quality kitchen table set at this time for my heavy-set family members to use at Easter.
They took the chairs, repaired them and returned them as scheduled about three weeks later. So far they are very sturdy.
