    SC Moving
Three young men and a truck arrived exactly on time.  They were professional, courteous, fun, and willing to do anything I asked of them.  It was a very long day entailing many steep stairs and some very heavy pieces of furniture.  They went out of their way to protect some of my most precious items - example: even though one dresser was extremely heavy they carried it rather than turning it on its side to put it on a dolly b/c they knew I had 2 jewelry drawers in it that would have spilled over.
We will be moving more items in the spring, and SC Moving will be my first call!

Workers were always pleasant and cheerful. They were very polite to me (old enough to be their grandmother). At both houses there were 2 sets of stairs and they never seemed to tire. The only issue that came up was an accidental scratch to my dining table which they told me about immediately along with the possible solution. Before they left, pictures of the scratch were taken by the lead guy. The next day the manager called to let me know they were sending a professional to fix the scratch ASAP..that is already scheduled for next week.

Moving a whole house full of stuff is stressful and not fun, but my helpers certainly took much of the worry away.

    Liberty Bell Moving & Storage

Great bunch (6) of workers. All very efficient and courteous.

Only complaint has to do with price/billing. Am in the process of following up on this, but here in a nutshell.

To work with the customer, Liberty Bell sets up a personal internet "portal" in your name. This was done for us on or about August 5, 2014. At that time the portal advised that, based on inventory, weight, etc. we would be charged about $3,700. (The exact figure I do not have available at the moment). The portal contained a link to click on to accept and authorize this deal. You are then told there must be a down payment of (what works out to be) 30%. We used PayPal to make this approx. $1,100 payment.

On September 5, the date of our move, I was present in Yarmouth as their trucks (2) pulled out, while my daughter Julie was present in Windham to supervise the unloading, etc. and of course to pay the balance of our contract--which she did.

When I next saw Julie (the following day) it turned up that the balance she had paid worked out not to $3,700, but to about $4,800. (Again, my figures here are from memory and not exact.) So I logged back on to our "portal" to verify our original deal. But, lo and behold, there the "estimate" for our move was shown as $4,800.

Julie then told me that they had presented no invoice or statement showing or explaining the difference between what we had "accepted" on August 5, and what we were finally charged. The person requesting payment instead referred to his IPAD (or something like it) to let her see the balance owed--which, as I have said, represented a contract price of about $4,800.

I have been tied up with a number of things that have kept me from following this up, but I do think there are legitimate reasons why this happened as it did. The basic issue here would be that whoever put together the original "estimate" failed to take account of the time factor (a full day versus a half day) or, perhaps, the (lack) of easy access at the destination.

I am confident that I will find justifiable reasons for the disparity, but at the same time knew you would "want all the details."

It went well. Gordon's moving was a funny experience. Gordon himself goes on all jobs! He is extremely knowledgable and love's what he does. All of his workers are high school and college students and when they showed up, I was worried that a bunch of young kids would not be able to move my house well, however; they were the most energetic and happiest mover's I have ever had. The move took about 6 hours longer than planned, so by midnight when they were leaving, we were completely exhausted and ready to be done, however; these kid's still had energy and were happy to be working. He did give an estimated price and even though the move was over 6 hours extra, he did not go over his price.

    Central Maine Moving & Storage
Workers (Sam, Andrew and Ben) were excellent, keeping me from giving this company F's across the board. Sherry, who did our estimate, left us extremely disappointed and made a stressful day VERY difficult. In short, 1. Estimator grossly underestimated how much stuff we had and how much would fit in a straight truck, required by the driveway. 2.Estimator failed to provide a written estimate of the charges, and verbal estimate was far lower than actual cost. 3.Through no fault of their own, crew was three hours later on pick-up day than scheduled--even though I called on the previous business day to ask them to be early. I missed an important appointment as a result of their tardiness. 4.The crew arrived with no plans, materials or manpower to complete the packing we negotiated during the walk-through estimate. 5.On pick-up day, estimator was difficult to reach, and seemed incapable of responding to or providing solutions for what became a day long crisis. 6.When those solutions were finally provided, they ended up costing us much more money than we expected. 7. Much of our stuff had to be sent on a second truck, a week later. 8. We wrote to the owner, spoke to him on the phone, and remained unsatisfied.
