    This man is a scammer! Sheldon misdiagnosed my problem without actually viewing it in person, installed a new tub faucet without checking that this would solve the problem, and then blamed me for the whole process. I was losing pressure in my shower when I pulled up the tab to go from faucet to shower head, about half the time. I told him over the phone and he immediately said it's the diverter, you need a new faucet. No doubt or hesitation, no "let me come check it out but it's probably this." When he installed the new faucet, he checked that it ran good pressure out the shower and it did. But when I went to actually take a shower later on, I had the same problem as before, lost pressure. I called Sheldon and he had me try some things that didn't help, so he came back over to reassess. Now remember, the problem only happens intermittently. You'll pull the tab and get crappy water pressure, and then push it down and pull it back up again and get great water pressure. So when Sheldon came over and saw this, he said "That's weird." Then he said "It's probably a problem with you shower head." At that point I said, "Sheldon, that's pretty disappointing, I just paid you for a new faucet because you said that was what I needed, now you tell me it's the shower head." He said to me, "Well you should have had me look at the problem when I came over." So I said, "You seemed sure you knew what was wrong with it. I think that's your responsibility to check if that would make a difference." And at that point he said, "Well you told me over the phone that it was a bad diverter. You said the diverter was bad." You guys, I have no idea what a diverter is. I'm a nurse, not a plumber. "Sheldon, I'm sure I didn't say that, I don't know what that is. I just described the problem to you." This is when things get really wild. He goes back to the tub and runs it again, runs it up to the shower, and says, "There's no problem, the pressure is fine." Two minutes ago he was telling me the problem was the shower head, now he's uncomfortable so he's denying a problem exists. We spent five minutes in that bathroom, my boyfriend and me and Sheldon, running the water back and forth between tub and shower head, my boyfriend and I being like, "OK now the pressure's ok... OK now! Now it's crappy again!" Because it's only half the time. And the man looks us in the eyes and pretends that he can't tell the difference between the two levels of water pressure. He came in, acknowledged the problem and suggested a different fix (the shower head), blamed me for misdiagnosing the problem, and then tried to pretend there was no problem at all. It's like full shower, and then dribble, and he's like, "Nope, no difference, totally fine. Everything works great." Some people do better work than others, some people don't clean up after themselves, but I have NEVER had an experience like that. I think I got scammed. I considered putting a stop payment on my check to him, but he DID service the furnace, and he DID replace the faucet (even tho I apparently didn't need it). Ugh, just a terrible experience. Do not hire.

    During the first service call the technician incorrectly diagnosed the problem. He said it was "definitely the furnace", and left the furnace turned off and in pieces pending the arrival of a replacement part. $110 service call fee. The next day the CO alarms went off again after running the water heater. They came back, and charged me $1,200 to install a $500 water heater that took two guys 90 minutes. That's over $200/hour for labor. They told me the replacement part for the furnace would arrive in 4 days. That was a month ago. I've called them 3 times in the last month to come put the furnace back together. The first time I scheduled an appointment. They no-showed. Two weeks later I scheduled another appointment. They no-showed again. I called a third time, and was told that they would call back to schedule an appointment. They did not call back, and a month later my furnace is still in pieces.

    I called on a Monday afternoon and a technician was at my house the very next day, earlier than they quoted. They cleaned and serviced my furnace just shy of an hour and it was fixed. The technician was pleasant, explained the problem and what he had done. He also recommended scheduling time for an additional issue I was having with my second zone (not as pressing) and they very easily could get that fixed as well. I'm extremely happy with this company and would highly recommend them. I also plan on sticking with them for regular maintenance.

    We obtained several estimates. Although Fortin was not the cheapest, we felt that they were the best fit for us. We could not have hired a better company. They prepared the plans for what we wanted to do and they obtained all necessary permits. Fortin's estimate included anything and everything that was needed to take this addition from start to finish. It included the excavating, concrete walls, garage pad, framing, electrical, plumbing, roofing, siding, drywall, painting, finishing work and loaming and seeding. Every subcontractor they used was top quality. Every crew that showed up at our house was extremely professional. Fortin's employees work hard and they care about the product they are producing which is evident in the finished product. Fortin has specific crews for specific jobs - framing crew, siding crew, roofing crew, painting crew, finishing guys, etc. Each crew specializes in their specific area. Construction lasted 60 days from breaking ground to completion. It was 60 stress free days. We never had to worry about anything, they took care of everything. The communication was amazing - we always knew when people were coming and what they would be doing. We could not be more pleased with our addition and feel that it was money very well spent. I would not hesitate to call them again for another project and highly recommend them.

    In February, I set up an automatic that they deliver gas for our heating and hot water. I set it up so they just deliver based on the temperature outside. When I need it, they bring it. They automatically bill me. I've been using them since September. I had a couple of issues with them but they resolved them. My issue with them was that I ordered an emergency fill so they came and filled the tank. I asked them on the phone if there's something I needed to know and they said no. They shut off the tank after they filled it as per policy. There was a tag in the door that said not to turn it back on. They charged me $90. I didn't have heat that night. Eventually I talked to somebody else and they took the $90 charge off. I was satisfied with that.

    Our daughter, SIL and grandkids live in the next town.  They called around 10 pm in January and told us they were moving in with us due to a propane gas leak in their boiler and the tech said unfortunately they had to buy a new one.  Because they both work, it was not the easiest thing for them to research contractors, types of boilers etc., so I decided to help.  I came across David Aaskov on Efficiency Maine's website and was struck by the number of 5 star reviews he had.  Then I went to Angie's list and also saw his A ratings and one of the reviews had a person who needed a new boiler and his cost was in the $9500.00 range.  I informed my son in law that he should put in a call to this guy.  David was incredibly responsive and at his house the next day.  The quote was in by that evening. 
    In the meantime, my SIL called some local HVAC people and he had quotes of $11000.00.  When he asked them how much a Viessmann unit would cost, because that is what David Aaskov was recommending, they all said "add $4000.00 to $5000.00 to our estimate".
    My SIL was impressed with David, his knowledge and the boiler he was recommending was top of the line, so he contracted to use his services.  He began on the boiler the next day and was done a day after that.  The unit is beautiful (weird to say that- but it is- sleek, modern, quiet).  The before and after pictures of our SIL's old and new boiler appeared on the Viessmann U.S. Facebook page and are an amazing contrast.  
    BTW, the price above is before the $500.00 rebate you can receive in Maine due to buying an energy efficient boiler.
    It is always great to find a contractor whose combination of experience, expertise, price and responsiveness are first rate.  We will certainly keep him in mind if the need arises in our home as well.

    Furnace had routine service Nov. 2. Today (11/19) we noticed an oil smell and and an oil leak at the base of the furnace. Called Pine State and they fit us into the schedule same day. Arrived earlier than expected, diagnosed the problem immediately, took responsibility for it and fixed it at no charge. Despite the earlier glitch, I felt that the annual tuneup was thorough and the technician was very professional -- pleasant and polite. So glad to have found these guys!

    I had been considering a heat pump system for a few months, after pretty much freezing thru the winter of 2014-2015. Bought the house in 2012 which was heated, upstairs only, with a gas decorative stove. I got estimates from 4 local HVAC companies, all but one found on the Efficiency Maine website.  Scott at Royal River contacted me very quickly after I called and was professional and personable when we met. He explained everything in details which I could understand and understood that this was a large financial investment for me, unlike one of the other companies I contacted. Royal River also had an additional rebate from the manufacturer that the other companies did not have, so that helped to bring the cost down.
    His installation crew was efficient and professional, completed the job and cleaned up in about 4 hours. Scott came by after and again a day or so later when I had further questions. He did all the paperwork for the rebates which came thru as promised.  
    I had been skeptical that the system could work as well as explained. I am no longer. During the humid late summer months, it worked perfectly as a dehumidifier and AC on the handful of days I  needed that. My electric bill did not go up at all compared to other years. In the already cool basement, the dehumidifier does its job as a dehumidifier but also cools, as Scott told me it would. I didn't use it much there.
    Now that the hearing season is here, I am even more impressed.. It does everything I was promised and Scott's decision on where to place the units was right on. I find myself turning the temperature DOWN more than up, because it is as efficient as he promised it would be.  I highly recommend Royal River Heat pumps.

    Excellent! Norwood came proptly to give the estimate and schedule the work. Wally and Josh were prompt, professional, careful, clean and did excellent work. the are was so clean when they left. Derynis, the owner, was very professional.

    They are very nice people. There are no problems. I actually got them off Angie's List. I haven't had any problems with the furnace so I guess they are giving me good oil. They will even deliver on Saturdays without charging you extra. They tell me what day, they don't give me an exact time but I've never had any problem with their punctuality. I'm planning to have them service the furnace the next time it needs an annual tune up or if I do replace it, I will use them.
