It went very well. Dave participated early on in the process by offering advice and assuring that what we were planning would work within the structure of our home. Once the project started, Dave and his carpenter crew were on the job daily unless the plumber and electrician needed the space to do their work. There wasn't a day during the project that something wasn't being done to move the remodel along. I would compliment Dave on his attn to detail and the finishe carpentry is outstanding

Run! David Semon has NO Crew. When he was ran 2 months over finish date we had to find another contractor. We had to live in a hotel for 3 months while he didn't show up to work. We had to pay double and triple for his part time help to redo projects. He is surly, and incompetent. We were advised by a litigator that we could claim damages and win, but we had to collect estimates and go through more trauma to stand up to this crook, so we took our losses.

    HomeExperts of Maine
Jim did everything possible to accommodate my concerns as the project progressed. The house had old leaded-class windows from the 1920s. HEoM workers worked with me to retain the old windows (which I was simultaneously restoring in the garage) by fitting energy-efficient picture windows behind them on the outside. Jim searched around for exactly the kind of porch-skirting and extra-long siding that we wanted. He coordinated work with an electrician and me as we installed pipes and wiring for a central-vacuum unit at the brief time while sheathing was exposed but before Tyvek and siding went up. We also coordinated installation of downspouts with my work on drain tiles and catch basins. And Tim and John (the first-rate siding team that Jim contracted) thoughtfully notified me of cavities behind the house's sheathing that had no insulation, giving me time to stuff some back there before all was covered up again with new vinyl siding. Andy Davis is the foreman at HEoM, and is the most gentle, unflappable, highly-skilled home contractor that I have ever met. Their usual way of insulating replacement windows had been with fiberglass. However, when I asked that they use foam insulation instead, the immediate response was, Of course! (My recommendation is that others do the same with any contractor, given that it results in a tighter, quieter house.) As always, HEoM workmen kept communicating with us as our wishes evolved during the course of the project. HEoM is best know for its work in seamless gutters. Prior gutter work on the house had been done in a way that at one point channeled water under roof shingles and that placed a downspout behind a porch's center columns. Jim came up with elegant solutions to these problems, and did so in a cost-effective way that did not require replacement of all our gutters--solutions that retained the original gutter style but with downspout color that matched our new siding. Such consciousness of detail was evident at all times during the project. For example, one of the siders suggested that a strip of PVC moulding would add to the porch's appearance. We took his advice, and could not be happier. The unknown truth about HEoM is that the company has professional skills far beyond gutters and windows. In fact, if I were to be thinking about building a house, Jim would be the first person I would speak with. Oh, yes. And they stand behind their work! A window sash and 4 screens were replaced no-questions-asked, when we noted damage. They repaired a strip of vinyl siding that had cracked after the first winter, and then over a year later Andy fixed a replacement window that was malfunctioning. Each time their response was immediate!

    Fortin Construction, Inc
We obtained several estimates. Although Fortin was not the cheapest, we felt that they were the best fit for us. We could not have hired a better company. They prepared the plans for what we wanted to do and they obtained all necessary permits. Fortin's estimate included anything and everything that was needed to take this addition from start to finish. It included the excavating, concrete walls, garage pad, framing, electrical, plumbing, roofing, siding, drywall, painting, finishing work and loaming and seeding. Every subcontractor they used was top quality. Every crew that showed up at our house was extremely professional. Fortin's employees work hard and they care about the product they are producing which is evident in the finished product. Fortin has specific crews for specific jobs - framing crew, siding crew, roofing crew, painting crew, finishing guys, etc. Each crew specializes in their specific area. Construction lasted 60 days from breaking ground to completion. It was 60 stress free days. We never had to worry about anything, they took care of everything. The communication was amazing - we always knew when people were coming and what they would be doing. We could not be more pleased with our addition and feel that it was money very well spent. I would not hesitate to call them again for another project and highly recommend them.

    Twisted Builderz
My husband and I have hired LOTS of builders and contractors over the years.  We have had one excellent experience before, but moved out of the area.  Since then, we have hired a multitude of adequate and sub par workers.  Twisted Builderz is another EXCELLENT builder.  We have been fortunate to work with them as they have not only done the work we hired them to do, but have uncovered and corrected some serious issues we were unaware of as they were doing the work.  Believe me, I have been suspect of many previous contractors looking to make more money off of us by pointing out "defects" but have never fallen for it.  What Mike and his crew found were serious issues like the sills rotting and windows not insulated.  We had them fix each of things and they either didn't charge us or gave us an extremely fair price.
The shed and siding are done perfectly with great detail and the screened in porch we JUST had built 6 months ago was done so poorly, we are having them rebuild - we trust them that much.
I recommend them highly and welcome any calls for a referral.

    Bjorn Erickson
The process and work always goes wonderfully.  Bjorn is honest, hardworking and very thorough.  He cleans up after each job.  Bjorn's bills are always very detailed.  He lists the day, hours worked and what was completed.  He always provides receipts for materials.  This is very important and very different than a lot of other contractors who provide just a general amount of hours worked.  Bjorn is definitely one of the best in his field.

    A & D Renovations
-Removed sagging 6? x 17? enclosed porch and disposed of all
debris. Everything except the porch floor was removed on day #1.
-Concrete work: installed four 10? diameter sauna tubes and
shored up the bulkhead walls using poured concrete and structured steel.
-Built 6?x 17? addition. Installed 1 exterior door with a
deadbolt lock, 1 very solid storm door, and 6 Low -E vinyl insulated windows
(made in Maine). Exterior siding matches the house, the addition is fully
insulated, sheetrocked, trimmed, and completely finished. Painting was not
included. They installed a combination of tile and bamboo flooring.
We purchased the tile and bamboo.
-On the addition: they ran wiring and installed 3 lighting
fixtures: 2 interior and 1 exterior. We purchased the lights. They installed 3
outlets, and one double switch. They built entryway steps on the addition,
built entryway steps on the front of the house. They built a solid wood
covering over the bulkhead with siding to match the house, doors over the
entryway, and a bolt that latches inside the bulkhead doors. They repaired the
door into the basement. They also installed an exterior light on the front of
the house. We purchased the light. They
installed flashing on the roof of the main part of the house to minimize ice
dams that form in that spot.
At no point in time were we concerned about the quality of
the work. Several times, Dennis said,? if anything goes wrong, let us know,
we?ll fix it?. We would hire A&D again in a heartbeat.

Michael did an excellent job. He knew exactly what he was doing from start to finish and his crew was the same. He promised that he was quick and would do a great job and he delivered on that . He returned all our phone calls and showed up on time every day. They did not waste one minute of daylight, working the entire time except for a short lunch break. The work they did is solid and was done properly. I was amazed how fast they did the job and the price was exactly what he stated at the beginning. There were no surprises when the bill came. We will definitely call him again for our next project and recommend him to anyone.

Great experience from the get go.
Ed , the owner was professional and friendly on the phone and able to accommodate our schedules.
He showed up early for the appointment and made sure that we understood all of the ins and outs of our new dishwasher.
He even took the old one away!
We'll definitely be using him in the future!

    Godsoe Builders
The experience of having Donny Godsoe of Godsoe Builders and his workers roof our house was a dream!  We got three estimates, and Donny called back first, and got the estimate to us first, and, was the lowest price.  He and his workers showed up when they said they would, which was not even two weeks from when we called (he had said he needed to finish up a job or two, and he knew we didn't need the work completed until the middle of July for the insurance company).
They were completely professional, calling ahead and asking whether it would be okay to leave the trailer in our driveway, and reminded us to talk to our neighbors.  They stripped the roof and put on the new roofing in just a few days, even having to work in the rain, and cleaned everything up beautifully.  They were considerably less expensive than the other two estimates, and I am so pleased to have a carpenter and roofer that we will call again!
Donny and his workers cut some branches we needed cut, over the garage, per request by the insurance company, and he is going to stop by and put some shingles on our neighbor's doghouse, where our dog stays often!
We recommend Donny, and Godsoe Builders highly!
