The kind of good service I get from Lex Connection makes me feel like I'm back in the 1950's. These people are friendly, helpful, professional and most important honest. They take good care of me and my Toyotas. Thank you Kevin.

The job went well...hit a few snags and took a little longer then they and us thought it wold...but they kept us in the loop on everything going on, and to be fair a couple of the snags were weather related due to 2 nor'easter back to back so understandable that they closed for the days, and one was a faulty part, but that happens in the mechanic world...but overall the price was more then fair, the customer service was great, they stayed withing the quote they gave me so it would be fair to say I would definitely go through them again and highly recommend them if you want good work at a reasonable price

Work seems to be of high quality but communications were lacking before, during, and after service. However, provider responded quickly when we thought we had a persistent issue and we brought vehicle back. Seemed to be fair and competent. We left vehicle with him when we were on vacation for ten days. Called a few times to find out what the needed repairs were and he hadn't gotten to it yet. So upon our return we found out the extent of the repairs, which we had asked to be advised of in advance. Seems to be a very popular one-man operation but with a ten year old vehicle, we may have decided to trade it rather than repair it. Decision made for us when we invested $2000 more in it!

I made an appointment in person on a Monday, but they could not fit me in until 4 days later. After leaving my car there at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, I phoned them at 2 p.m. and was told it was and quot;on the liftand quot; and they'd get back to me. When I phoned again 2 hours later, I was instructed to and quot;call back tomorrow and ask for Ryan.and quot; Around 9:30 a.m. on Friday I phoned and spoke with Ryan, who asked, and quot;what exactly is wrongand quot; with the car. My response was that it was no longer shifting smoothly into and out of and quot;Driveand quot;, and that I wanted to have the car checked out before the problem got worse. (I had explained this when I set up the appointment, so Ryan's emphasis here was on the word, and quot;exactly.and quot; Evidently he couldn't find much wrong.) I phoned back 5 hours later to see if they were done with the car (and if I would have it to use over the weekend). Yes, it was done. They had looked the transmission over, and taken the car out for a couple of test drives. Yet they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I was told, and quot; The transmission seems to be performing as one would expect from a car with 140,000 miles on it.and quot; My response was, and quot;Well, it seems that you've spent quite a while working on my car; what do I owe you?and quot; The answer, and quot;Nothing. Just come by any time and pick it up.and quot; Their checking my transmission was for free! Regarding my scores above: My low and quot;responsivenessand quot; score is because New England Transmission NEVER phoned me about my car. Each phone call was from me to them (even when they said they would call). On the other hand, honesty goes a long way with me, and I would rather have an unresponsive honest mechanic than a responsive dishonest one. (Although they did not, they could easily have charged me for the hours they spent checking over my car.) My advice: If you have work done at New England Transmission in South Portland, Maine, be prepared to initiate all follow-up phone calls yourself. It is too early to know if I should rank them as competent. For example, if my transmission and quot;gave outand quot; tomorrow, I might conclude that they should have seen this coming. For this reason, I suspend judgment on the quality of their work (although I'll revise this review accordingly if my transmission's symptoms worsen soon). For now (other than regarding their lack of responsiveness), I only have positive things to say about New England Transmission.

My father is 87 years old and bought a used 2003 Toyota RAV 4 in 2011.  The transmission started to act up and my Mom had to have an emergency operation in which she subsequently suffered a stroke.  With no family near him, he went to a Toyota dealer nearby and asked for an estimate while the check engine light was lit.  The serviceman told him it would be $5,000 as the car needed a new transmission. However, because the car had over 130,000 miles on it, the service guy told him to just continue driving it.  Well, 2 weeks later I came down from Maine to help get Mom home.  We took his car and it was herky jerky the first half mile. We turned around and went back to use my rental. When I finally had a chance, I went to a nearby library and researched Angie's list for a reputable transmission place. J Transmission only had 3 or 4 reviews, but they were all excellent and more reviews than any other business.  So I called. Jimmy was very patient and professional. We had the car towed to his place. Dad and I went over later to check on it that day. Jimmy had some unexpected drop ins. He called Dad a day later and told him he did not need a new transmission. It was the computer that fed the transmission and he hoped Dad didn't do any damage by continuing to drive it. The part was ordered that day (Thur). Dad had the car back by Tues and only cost him $1500.  The car runs great and Dad is happy. Jimmy is the man! I would definitely trust him for any of my vehicles and recommend him to anyone before going elsewhere.

Estimate was right on target, work was completed quickly, and in the timeframe promised.  They explained exactly what was wrong and explained using transmission parts.  A-1, professional, friendly service.  10 months later, the transmission is working perfectly.   Would use them again in a heartbeat.

Once upon a time I walked out of Walmart to find a giant puddle of transmission fluid under my van. I called Kimball?s Garage in South Portland and told them I needed a new transmission and I?d have my vehicle towed over. A few hours later I got a call from Kimballs, it went like this. Kimball?s Garage: Your van?s ready, it?s going to be $35. Me: Um this is eDee I have the Windstar with the transmission issue. Kimball?s Garage: Yup, looks like someone may have flushed your transmission and didn?t put the cap on correctly. Now put this into prospective. I TOLD Kimball?s I needed a new transmission, I was expecting to pay big bucks for it. They could have charged me for a new transmission and I would have never been the wiser, but they didn?t. Kimball?s was honest. From now and for always I will take all our vehicles to Kimball?s Garage in South Portland, ME.

The transmission went on my '04 Honda Accord. They took me right in, honored a previous estimate I had gotten over the phone even though the work was more costly than they anticipated and we're just great to deal with. No one wants to replace a transmission just for the fun of it. These guys were awesome every step of the way and make a really difficult situation (and expensive one) as pain free as possible. And on the price I did get a couple other quotes and Northeast was far and away the most attractive. Great experience!

Very affordable, other garage wanted 2000.00 and offered NO warranty. These folks charged 1300, and work came with 100% warranty for six months. They also checked entire car over and detailed repairs and maintenance needed over next year.

All went according to plan- except not quite as fast as I had wished. AAA towed my car from Gorham (thanks to AAA Plus), and I never saw them until it was all done. The phone is answered when someone is in the office, otherwise is as likely to go the fax machine as the answering machine (or maybe there is no answering machine). Ring until you get a live person! Car ran smoothly from mile one, and 7,000 miles later, still runs fine. May the Camry be boring for another 100,000 miles!
