Dermatology reviews in Old Orchard Beach

I feel I gave all the details above.  I had read negative reviews on Google and was concerned even though my personal Plastic Surgeon had spoken highly of Dr. Dover.  I specifically joined Angie's List so I could read more objective reviews.  I wrote a review before visiting his office and promised to do a follow-up after, which has taken me a bit of time.  It's actually better that it has because I can report a few months later that I am still extremely happy with the results and will definitely continue to go to Dr. Dover.
I had read somewhere in one of those Google reviews  that the office was cold and unwelcoming.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  The office was exactly what I would expect a professional practice to be and each and every person I came in contact with was warm and welcoming.  I plan to continue to go to Dr. Dover for many years to come.

I've been researching skin specialists for possible skin rejuvenation treatments.  I strongly believe it's extremely important to make sure to go to a high quality provider and sometimes that means paying a higher price.  I have received filler procedures in another state and have had good and horrible results--all by the same physician.  I based my decision on the price.  Not always the smart way to go.  The first time I saw him, he was very careful to explain exactly what he was doing and how much it cost, which was under $1,000.  Even given what seemed to be a reasonable price, while I was waiting to pay the receptionist for the treatment I'd received, I noticed my face looked lopsided.  Thankfully I have a good eye and the missed area was taken care of before I left, free of charge.  When I  went back to the same physician about 8 months later, he didn't specifically say how much each type of injection was costing, but I felt it would be similar to the first time.  WRONG.  I was shocked to find out when checking out I owed almost $3,000.  Bottom line, anything that physician did to my face would wear off in time.  I am now looking for something that is actually going to resurface my skin and encourage collagen growth.  "Oops" is not an option.  I asked some trusted friends for references and continually heard the same name.  Dr. Dover of SkinCare Physicians.  I did some research on Google and some of the reviews unnerved me, particularly because they all seemed to say how much more expensive they were compared to other places.  Some reviews talked about being rushed through their consultaiton, but none of them directly related to Dr. Dover.  I decided to join Angie's List to read reviews by people I felt would be more trustworthy.  Unfortunately, there is only one review on Angie's List.  It is favorable, but doesn't refer to Dr. Dover.  So I felt I was back to square one.
So here's the bottom line so far.  I've personally asked two people I respect who have received services from Dr. Dover.  They each gave him rave reviews.  The quote that made the biggest impression was "Remember, it's your face!"  I called the office to set up an appointment and chat with them a little bit.  You can tell quite a bit by the way you're treated by the person who answers the phone.  I was pleased with their manner and also with the availability of appointment times.  They do charge $225 for a consultation which is not applied toward any procedure done. I guess this keeps people from wasting their appointment time to just explore the possibilities of having a procedure.  So to me, that's step 1.  Deciding to pay the $$ for the consultation.  The appointment date above is the date I called and spoke to the office personnel.
I have decided it's worth the money to speak directly to Dr. Dover.  I am now deciding when I plan to have the procedure and will set up an appointment about a month before that time.  I am prepared to pay more for the peace of mind that I can be relatively confident of the quality of the results.
I'm providing this information to help people understand my thought process so far and what I believe they should look for when they consider something more than just a fill for their face.  There is no correcting mistakes on your face, so paying a bit more is okay with me.  It may not be okay with them, but that's their decision--after all it's their face.
I promise to complete a review for each of what I consider to be the next two phases:  1) when I have my appointment with Dr. Dover. and 2) when I have the procedure done.  I'll be sure to explain not only the procedure and how I feel the results are, but also if it was worth the extra cost.  In the meantime, I hope this helps someone through the first step of their decision process!
