    New Leaf Construction
This was a wonderful company to work with.  New Leaf Construction performed repair to the exterior of our art gallery building.  The damage was caused by significant rot / water issues.  We have very high expectations and we are quite meticulous in the upkeep of our properties.  New Leaf far exceeded customer service expectations and by far was the most responsive and courteous company that we have worked with in Maine.  The crew was responsible and respectful.  The contract process was quite clear and detailed.  The billing procedures and follow up was superb.  The work was completed to perfection.

We purchased a house in Liberty, Maine between Augusta and Belfast in the summer of 2007 and we live in Maryland. During the winter a pipe burst and the house suffered extensive water damage. Our insurance company would cover the damage, however, we live five states away. MKM Construction prepared the cost estimate and negotiated with the insurance company sending pictures of damage and written reports. During this process, Mike was in constant contact with us by phone. First, the house had to be completely dried and checked for mold. Carpet in the bedroom was removed and new carpet installed. Wet wallboard was torn out and replaced, primed and painted in the kitchen, living area and downstairs bedroom. In addition he suggested and made improvements such as: updated trim in the living area, hand made shelves in the pantry and devised a beautiful hand made arch to separate the kitchen from the living area. Mike also sent us pictures of the progress to keep us updated. Throughout the process, it was clear he had & was acting in our best interest. When we returned to Maine in June the house was in move in condition. Since then Mike has put up chair railing, installed a new entry door and is in the process of installing a screened room on our deck. We couldn't be more pleased.

    Eastern Mold Remediation
Excellent! EMR has been one of the best companies we have ever worked with. Their communication was outstanding throughout the entire project and the crew was always very professional and friendly...such a nice group of young men. I would recommend EMR to anyone and certainly would hire them again for any issue in the future. Honestly cannot imagine anyone doing a better job than EMR.

We did not have any complaints and we had them do two more handyman jobs later. They were professional, cleaned up after themselves, and did everything you expected out of them.

I saw a commercial on TV for this company months ago--before I ever knew I would need them. But, I wrote the number down because the commercial was so informative and you never know.... Well, fast forward to the winter from h*** in Maine a short time later and when I went up into the  garage  loft, it looked like someone had painted it black. Bob came out, assessed the situation and Ellen set up the schedule. The men arrived and set to work, and work hard they did. They carefully cleaned and moved the lawn furniture, window screens, etc. that were stored in the loft, disposed of all organic material (empty boxes) that harbors the mold, and vacuumed up any debris. After the mold was cleaned off, they set up large fans to dry the wood and dehumidify the space. When they came back the next day and took a measurement of the moisture remaining in the wood, they found it hadn't dried sufficiently and were not able to put the sealant on it. That was a 90 minute drive for them to turn around and go back to the shop and I so appreciated a company that really did care about doing the best job. They returned today to finish and my garage looks better than when I bought the house.  The men are so professional yet friendly! They took time to explain everything to me. They were always asking if there was something else I wanted them to move before they moved anything or discarded anything. I don't know when I have had such exceptional service.  I asked for business cards because I know I will be recommending them to anyone I know who has a mold or water problem. Thank you Bob, Ellen, Dakota, Derek, Kyle and Andy (I hope I got them all!). You are the best!

    The Chore Store Inc
Tom was polite, prompt and worked around my very busy schedule. When the initial, temporary patch failed to seal the leak, he immediately had his crew return and complete the entire job even though I was not the next customer on his schedule. They were courteous and cleaned the bathroom area after working each day, something other construction crews often leave to the owner. My house is a three story Victorian and the roof is difficult to reach! Tom and his crew brought the correct ladders and tools the very first time they arrived, thus enabling them to begin work immediately.

They arrived, went directly to work getting everything set up, and monitored the drying process for the next three days. The equipment was excellent, their knowledge level was excellent, and the basement dried. They were willing to do anything we needed, and were prompt in monitoring and, finally, packing their equipment and leaving.

The only thing I am giving one star for is that the company showed up quickly after the fire. As for the job that was done (I can't call it job completed) they were horrible. After the first day my wife and I spent going around the bedrooms after their crew to clean behind dressers, desks and under every bed. Our 4year old daughters room still had black soot on the floor and wall around her toy box and bookcase. The second day they showed up and continued on with us working beside them and having to redo parts of their work. The people who were assigned to the kitchen did a half fast job that my wife had to redo most of. The dishes were just thrown in the dishwasher with purple degreaser sprayed on them and run on rinse cycle then wiped with rags that left residue and lint all over them....we did not feel comfortable eating off from them so we redid them all ourselves. (The kitchen is where the fire was and got the most soot and smoke). The man who cleaned one half of the kitchen finished by taking a soaked mop and trying to mop up blown in insulation from our wood floor only to leave most of it behind so it dried in lumps all over the floor, I had to redo it and scrape the dried up stuff of the floor the next day so I felt comfortable walking on it, let alone our children. The woman on the crew had the gall to tell me that it had already been washed by them ( they didn't even have the sense to vacuum before they mopped). On the third and last day they showed up with half of the crew (3 people) that that had the previous days and they still had about half of the house to do. Most of the day they were crabbing that there was too much to complete in the time they were given by their leaders. So, they hurried through the last day leaving my wife to clean up after their mess they made in the cabinets and kitchen. I had to clean and mop up all of our downstairs floors because they did not have time to do them. They did get the living room done though. When their manager came by here on the first day he assured us that our Spring Cleaning would be done when they walked out, we were way over promised and way under delivered. We are still being charged for the things that were not done by there crew like the floors, doors that do not exist in the house, closets that the manager himself knew that they were told not to touch, an entryway and doors they did not touch, windows that still have soot all over them where you can see the lines from them just quickly going over with a wet rag, I can go in the living room and quickly wipe black off the walls in any spot, they lost parts to my lights in a bathroom and left vent hoses disconnected so the next time they were turned on they blew insulation all over the bathroom. When taking down a suspended ceiling in the bathroom of the business they broke some tiles and tucked them into trash bags to hide them then come up with a story of maybe we should replace them. I have gone down through their $12'000 plus bill that they sent us and can honestly say that they are charging 3-4 thousand dollars more than they did for work. When we called the company the stories changed that they were not here to clean dust but just soot from the fire and that we should be thankful that they came here and that they regretted taking the job. The manager was called during the process and informed that the job was not being done that he promised us, only to turn things around the next day when the crew had left, wouldn't even come here to take a look at things, won't take the charges off for what they did not do or what doesn't even exist in the house, only wanted to lie so he could cover his butt in front of his boss the owner. He even had the gall to tell me that the soot that I found just could magically reappear after they had cleaned and that dust couldn't contain soot from the fire. Incompetence at its best. I would not recommend this company to my enemies. Save yourself some trouble and check elsewhere first.
