  • I had some trees needing removal, one set of two in a potentially dangerous spot.  Because I felt a need to hire a "professional" with insurance, I contacted Tree Monkeys. The trees did come down and no-one was hurt.  Property was not broken. However...

    As of today, May 12, 2016 ...

How do you spell disappointed? Tree Monkeys Tree Removal.

To begin, this is Day 77 of a 10-Day Contract.  Owner-Operator Gerry O’Brikis delivered many verbal promises for arrival times, dates and services, most of which he broke.  In the meantime, he filled my ears with lame excuses for incomplete work and complaints about other customers. I feel cheated.  Instead of treating me as a valuable paying customer, to date he has not finished his contracted job and I was left with stumps, sawdust, branches and a lot of mess in the yard.  I have observant neighbors, photos, a handwritten note, phone texts and a broken contract that allow me to write this with confidence of truthful evidence.  Each time I texted or called O'Brikis regarding his unfinished work I reminded him I would be writing this review for Angie.

Our town of Lincoln is full of experienced, hard-working chainsaw-wielding people better to hire than Gerry O’Brikis.  His Tree Monkeys delivered, all right; they gave me an unpleasant, very expensive, experience of high anxiety and frustration and an incomplete job poorly done.

  • Inferior quality workmanship.  The defective work has been clearly identified by the local engineer.  He refuses to fix any of the inferior work. The deck railing fell off of the deck.  He hands you an invoice and expects to be paid within 24 hours, or he threatens you with an attorney. He tells you that he can do a myriad of jobs, but he doesn’t have the skills.  He alters the plans to the house. Throughout the building process you can tell him what needs to be fixed, but he never fixes anything. I would never hire him, nor would I recommend him to anyone, including my worst enemy.

  • The orignal quote was for $9,000.  He did not honor his quote and went over it by $1,884. Some of the problems include: the basement is only 7'3" instead of 8".  I had two driveways when he started, and now I now I have none.  He changed the dimensions on my basement and the angle of the walls as well. He cannot be left alone and needs constant supervision.  He refuses to fix any of his inferior work.

  • The technician that was to come to our house and scope out he work was over an hour late.  The equipment price quoted was $600 higher than I was able to get the exact same equipment delivered to my door from Amazon.com so we decided to just have Dead River install the equipment for us.  The technician did help us order the required equipment online.  This was helpful.

The scheduled day of the installation nobody showed up.  When I called I was told the appointment was for 3 days later.  This was not what we had scheduled during the scope out visit.  3 days later the installers showed up an hour late, then unpacked the equipment for about 30 minutes before being called away on another job.  they didn't even say they were leaving.  We had to call and ask where everyone went.

So far this job has been nothing but a pain.

  • Mr. Laursen and his girlfriend Crystal Mushero came to my home and gave an estimate to install a metal roof on my home.  They spent a lot of time talking and bragging of the great work that Steve and his crew do and about how busy and desired he was as a contractor.  After the estimate Steve asked me to sign a contract.  I did sign the contract but he did not give me a copy of that contract.  He asked for a deposit of $2500 to purchase the materials and get started.  We got a rainy start to the summer and that delayed the start of the project as well as my boyfriend working nights that limited the start up.  The crew arrived on and began the work on 6/1 and did not quite half of the roof.  They let half way through the day as it was a very hot day.  The following day, Crystal arrived at my home and explained that she had pulled her crew off the roof the previous day due to the heat.  She complained several times that the company was not making a lot of money off this project and that the materials were very expensive.  She asked for more money to pick up the rest of the materials.  I wrote her a check for the remaining balance.  That was the last time I saw Crystal.  There were many promises made by phone as to when they would arrive to finish the job and none of those promises were followed through on.  My boyfriend ran into them at an area business and asked when they would be back and they made more promises.  Again they still did not arrive to finish the job.  I have called them multiple times...both Steve and Crystal and have returned no phone call back from them.  I have since heard from other customers of their that have had similar issues with this company and with Steve and Crystal.  I have begun legal actions against them....my lawyer has called and received no call back and I have sent registered mail to them that has been unanswered.
Please be cautioned that these two are very smooth talkers and don't appear to mind taking advantage of anyone willing to trust them.
This particular address lists them as 33 Water Street in Milford, but they move all over and seemingly where ever they need to move to to avoid getting confronted by the clients that they have taken advantage of.  They stated their address as Lincoln when talking with us and receive their mail at a P.O. Box in Lincoln.  More recently they have advertised as doing business in the Waterville area so they may possibly be living down there.  BEWARE!!!!!  They could be anywhere!!!!!!

  • Excellent, better than I imagined. I did not mind a use of both new wood and recycled wood, it was all sanded down so you would never know. It had everything I wanted, and then when I wanted another storage area he added one to it.

  • They had to go by a list of things I wanted and didn't want. Everything was delivered on time. Delicate things survived really well only one thing was broken and it wasn't their fault. The movers were really nice, very professional and willing to help. Good people. They gave me a complete checklist and all the stuff was there.

  • Was on schedule and stayed on the job until it was done.  He kept the yard clear and made sure that everything was in a safe condition and not blocking the entry ways.  He had very little waste and did an excellent clean up when the job was done.

  • I initially contacted Advanced several weeks before the work was completed.  Because my home was several hundred miles away from their operating location we agreed that the work would be scheduled a few weeks out when they already several projects to be completed in my area.  They called me the day before they were going to be in the area and I made arrangements for their crew to have access to my house (the property is a vacation home).  Their crew arrived and called me shortly thereafter to provide an estimate.  The estimate was lower than I'd expected and I decided to get  the work done.  The crew was able to complete the work within a couple of hours after they gave me the quote and that was that.

The work was done as agreed, and they did an excellent job of application and site clean-up.  They even went the extra mile and filled some holes in the sill of the house where pipes and wires passed through, which was not originally part of the job scope.  Overall I was very satisfied with their communication and work, and it was great that they were able to give me a quote and complete the work on the same day.  It can be hard to find vendors who will make the trip this far up into central Maine, but Advanced was easy to work with in this regard and did an excellent job of letting me know when they could be on-site, and then arriving as agreed.  I would definitely recommend  this vendor to others.

  • Did not follow contract specifications.  Did not fulfill contract.  Work was never completed and much of what he had done was install wrong.  He did not know what he was doing and took a two week job and ran it out into 7 months.  Job had to be finished by another contractor.
