The store and campground are at the West Branch of the Penobscot River, just before entering Baxter State Park. I was wilderness camping and needed directions and guidance about how to get around. They were the nicest people you would ever want to meet. They gave good advice and loaned me a better map than the one I had. Their facilities were well maintained and inviting. The location is very nice along the riverbank and they have lake access a short distance away.

Boat along with outboardmotor sent in on 7/1/11 for a tune-up. It is an older Mercury Mariner motor and that is why we chose them because they are Mercury dealers.   Service called saying there were carburetor issues and asked for permission to go ahead and fix..They were told to do so.. My husband became suspicious of the work right off the bat because the jets that they worked on in the carburetor are brass and should have been braised not soldered. (It was noted right on the bill that the tubes were soldered).  He paid the bill for $245 and we took it out on the lake.  Right away it started sputtering and would cut out completely when idling down.  We sat in the middle of the lake for half an hour trying to restart the engine.  It cut out another three times before we got it back to shore.  This never happened before we sent it in for service!   We retured it to the marina for them to check out again.  My husband asked about the soldering of the tubes and they told him the machine shop down the street said it could be done...Everyone he?s spoken to since then says NO.  The serviceman said they tried to locate replacement tubes over the internet, because they were hard to locate....I called over a week later to find out what was happening with the boat (they never even attempted to let us know what the delay was about).  I was informed that they still hadn?t received the part they ordered over the internet.  Yesterday, 7/28/11, husband had to call them again to find out what progress was made.  He was told the internet site was bogus and no part was coming...We?d probably be sitting here another week waiting to hear what was going on if he hadn?t called.  Finally, disgusted he went and got the boat expecting that since we now had a motor that was in worse condition, some sort of adjustment could be made to what we had already paid...They weren?t hearing of it, saying they went over the motor again rechecking their work, taking time away from other work. Nothing else was done to the motor...Who know if they ever went near it again?  Asked if they had taken it back out for another lake test....No!...Lot of lip service not much in the way of motor service...almost month later and $245 to send in a motor that came back in worse shape...

Provider failed to keep appointment and did not notify me. Gave approximate date for service. Date came and went and didn't receive a call. Again when I called I was given an approximate date for service. And again the date came and went without me receiving a courtesy call. This went on for over a month. When I asked to speak to the next person in the level of command, a person came on the phone and identified them selves as Mr. Brown the owner of the company. He rudely told me about their "pecking" order and to make a long story short, people who drop their boat off with an appointment are the last in the "pecking" order. I asked him if minded if I told my friends (pause), family (pause), and Angie's list about my experiences with his company. As soon as I said Angie's List he told me to come get my boat. I asked him: "Does this mean you are refusing to service my boat?" he replied "Yes" Apparently he doesn't think very highly of Angie's List.
