Window Replacement reviews in Falmouth

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • This project went as well as I could've hoped.  I had been on the fence for several years about restoring these windows vs. buying replacement windows, which actually would have been less expensive.  Ultimately it was Marc Bagala's patience and assistance that convinced me to try going with the restoration.  I had a sense that he and his crew knew what they were doing, and would deliver a quality end-product, which they did.  There were a few glitches along the way-- the sort you find when you remove decades of old paint-- but these weren't the contractors' fault, and they helped me figure out how best to deal with them.  The only negative I could say is that the project was not cheap-- but I do think this was a case of getting what one pays for.

  • Dave, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with. Products were explained carefully and the process was carefully detailed. Installation went smoothly on schedule and tweaking adjustments were handled quickly and correctly. This is a top shelf vendor performing excellent work.

  • George Austin came over as scheduled to do the estimate and provided me (educated me) on types of roofs, skylights, and potential chimney issues that might complicate the job.  The team began at 7 am as scheduled everyday and left about 1, depending on the weather. Despite the alternately rainy and hot weather, they were efficient, cheerful, and professional.  When we had questions or problems, they responded promptly.
When the job was completed (and it was fairly complex, with multi-level roofs, and lots of potential risk to windows and landscaping) they made sure everything was cleaned up. With a job this size, a few glitches were inevitable...random nails blew off the roof after the cleanup was complete, and despite attempts to protect them, several roses bushes and other plants were broken when the old roof was removed. My biggest issue was with the minor carpentry that was done to frame the new windows: that individual left debris both in the house and in the garage that I had to clean up. Sawdust everywhere! That aside, the job was well done and I was struck by the spirit of teamwork and professionalism they demonstrated.

  • Every bit of this project went very well.
It was about a five-month timeline.
They prepared an accurate full project proposal and sub-contractor quotes.
Jason and Joe kept us informed of the steps, schedule of activity, sub-contractor delays, material delivery times and installment billing needs.
We were given time to make choices for paint colors, cabinet styles, floorplan layout, lighting and switch locations, all those sort of things.
They installed quite a few materials that we selected and purchased ourselves.
They got along and communicated well with all the sub-contractors, even the ones that I had picked independently.
We were allowed to do some light painting and small fixture installation after hours ourselves.
Joe and Jason found a great drywall installer, electrician, insulation company, and HVAC company. (I also gave them good ratings here on Angie's List)
The quality of work was top notch. Details were not missed.
A kitchen counter-top that we ordered was defective, and Jason wasted no time in getting the local manufacturer informed and an immediate replacement made.
Clean-up and checklist completion was done at appropriate intervals.
    No surprises in billing.

Everyone who visits the house says and quot;WOWand quot; to see how it looks now compared to before. They are as impressed as we are, even the fussy friends and neighbors who usually find fault in anyone's work but their own.
It was a job well done.
Joe and Jason do great work.

  • We found him on the Angie’s list. He did a good job. He was on time. He got the job done quickly. My overall experience is excellent with them. His price was average. I would use him in the future.

  • I've use Fred H of Upright Building Services (UBS) for several smaller jobs successfully in the past few years (rebuild a back deck, add a front stoop, etc) and am now using UBS to complete a major remodel of the exterior of my home. The contract was reasonably priced and Fred was able to knowledgeably discuss different approaches that helped me narrow the scope of the project, so that the final work would best meet my needs and budget. Specificaly, he was able to clearly explain the pros and cons of different types of siding, windows, etc, that augmented my independent research of what I wanted done, before providing a written estimate that formed the basis of our final contract.

This is the biggest job I've had done at this house (in central maine) although I've worked with a number of different contractors on projects as large over the years with homes in other areas (southern maine, boston, DC, etc) and working with Fred is a pleasure. I appreciate his keen attention to detail, and his concern that the job be done right while managing to stay on track in terms of timing. There are always surprises with major renovations outside the scope of the original project, but Fred goes out of his way to keep me informed and to show me the surprises as they come up (e.g., unexpectedly rotten soffits), then discusses options and pricing before proceeding. I don't feel pressured to do more than is necessary, and I appreciate learning what needs to be done and when it needs to be done (i.e., must be addressed immediately vs no harm in waiting a few years). Also, Fred keeps a pretty close eye on his crew, and they too are friendly, diligent, and hard workers.

I'm quite pleased with my experience to date with UBS - Fred's prices are fair, he is unfailingly polite, and the quailty of his work is excellent. I look forward to hiring him again for future projects.

  • Very good experience. Jaon and his work partner Joe did a fantastic job of coordinating with sub-contractors, worked hard, kept things on schedule and within budget. They kept me informed at the decision points and made suggestions for best appearance and efficiency.

  • UBS did a very nice job removing the old rotting back deck and installing a new deck and railing. He was knowledgeable about different building options and materials. After demolition, Fred found some rot against the house where the old deck had not been flashed properly, and I paid a small amount extra for him to replace the clapboards before the new deck was installed, which was fair. He was professional in terms of the estimate, the contract, the work itself, and the clean up process (very thorough). I am using UBS to build out a small front landing and to add trim to some windows now, and will likely hire them again next summer for some additional hardscaping work.

  • All of the work was done in a very professional manner and finished on a fast timeline. All the work they have done has held up very well. We will certainly call them with any other exterior needs!

  • They showed up on time and did the job quickly and efficiently
