    Chris Scesny Construction
We are trying to get him since the past three months. He came out and he looked at it and I had to chase him for 2-3 weeks. We are not happy with him. It is just hard to get a hold of him. Sometimes he says he is going to show up and he doesn’t. We would never recommend him or use him again. He still hasn’t done the job. All he has done is to put a couple of metal things on to the side to frame it and that is barely done. He is charging us $16,000 and we have only given him a third of that right now. We found him on Angie’s List.

    Pearl Contractors
    20-OCT-2014
Overall we are very pleased with the work.
I will add a more detailed review in the summer after our new roof has had a chance to go through the winter and spring weather.

    13-APR-2015
    Spring update.
Well, we survived the winter with no leaks in our roof. I would still recommend Pearl Contractors for any roofing work that you may need.

    Spring 2015.
Contacted Pearl to inform them that the flashing around my chimney is leaking.

    August 2015
After some discussion with Troy, the owner and Chris his assistant manager we have decided that the flashing around the chimney should have been replaced at the time of the original installation. because it was not, Pearl Contractor's has replaced the flashing as a warranty repair. Pearls states this chimney flashing is a $750 value. I am happy to have a roof that no longer leaks.

    R C Builders
I had 4 roof replacement estimates done and I am very pleased I selected R.C. Builders for the job. I am extremely happy with my experience with R.C. Builders. Before the job was even booked, "R.C." was prompt in responding to my request for an estimate, thorough in detailing what needed to be done, informative about my options, and provided a fair estimate. Communication before and during the project was great, as minor adjustments needed to be done to the original job description.
Perhaps what was most impressive to me was the very personable, professional and respectful manner R.C. displayed when dealing with both myself and his crew. These qualities are very important to me, as consumer, since several past experiences with people who have done jobs at my home, have been  negative! It should be mentioned that the two additional crew members were very nice, also.
The job was thorough, well-done and completed in a timely manner. The roof, new and painted wood, and gutters look terrific! Great care was taken with set-up and clean up so that the yard and gardens were not impacted at all by the project. All debris was removed.
I will use R.C. Builders again, and I would highly recommend them. My experience was totally positive!

    Williams Roofing Co
They removed the old shingles but installed the wrong color shingles on my roof.  We had picked out the perfect color to go with the color of the house, but instead of putting the correct color shingles on, they installed  the same exact color as the old shingles, which we hated and did not go with the color of the house.  I asked for a meeting to discuss this costly mistake, and the owner of the company never showed up and never even called to say he wasn't coming.  Then I called a few times asking him to call me back, he never did. I then wrote him a letter explaining the huge error of his company, asking for compensation, and I never got a response.  I would advise NO ONE to ever use this company.  They are not reliable, professional or in any way a capable business.

    B&T Roofing Ltd
At first I was very impressed with representative Bill Richardson.  Bill was professional, thorough, and even took very good pictures of my roof for me to see all the damage.  I had considered having Bill look at my Commercial Building because I suspected I might have hail damage there as well.  Tracy Muth said Bill was ‘pretty new’ so she was going to have the owner, Todd Muth, come look at my Commercial Building.   I decided to hold off on the Commercial claim so I continued to deal with Bill and Bill came out and took pictures of my Commercial roof.   My husband and I were scheduled to go to Maine in July for my husband to have some surgery.  Bill gave me a quote of $7,730 for my home roof.  My insurance was paying $6,065 for a net difference of $1,665 with my out-of-pocket being $2,665 with my $1,000 deductible!  (Keep in mind I got a new roof in 2003 due to a hailstorm and my roofer took exactly what the insurance paid and there were no problems.)  I asked Bill why there was such a big difference in dollars and he said that my insurance company was taking out their profit.  I don’t think so!  Anyway, I gave the insurance papers to Bill July 1.  Bill was to prepare a detailed estimate in “Exactomate” format and send it to my insurance company to see if there were any discrepancies and if they would pay any more on my claim.  Since B&T has been in the roofing business for many years this did not seem like an unusual practice.   Upon arriving home from Maine July 20 I contacted Tracy Muth at B&T for a status.  August 4 Tracy told me that Todd and Bill were ‘working on the numbers’ and, due to other commitments of the owner, Todd, I would not hear anything until at least August 12.  August 18 Bill called to tell me he was just then sending numbers to my insurance company---6 weeks after I gave him all the papers.  Also I noticed Bill had forgotten all the important numbers  (claim number and policy number) on the fax he sent to my insurance company which he had to redo.  It was at this time that I got different stories from Bill and owner, Todd Muth.  Todd told me that there had been a miscommunication and Todd thought Bill was working on the numbers and Bill thought Todd was working on the numbers.  Bill said it was totally his fault and he had ‘dropped the ball’ on my paperwork and he had been very busy.  He apologized profusely and was highly ethical.  He was accepting all of the blame when I don’t think it was all his to take.  Also Todd said that they do not own “Exactomate” software but had to lease it and he needed to get a new or updated version of “Exactomate.”  This seemed very strange to me---aren’t they in the roofing business and don’t all insurance companies require detailed estimates in that form.  Other roofers I have spoken with said they do not use that specific software but do prepare quotes in that format.  Why did I have all these hassles with B& T?     I accepted Bill’s sincere apology and asked what my insurance had told him.  He said he was waiting to hear back from them.  I called my insurance company and got a little different story.  Basically I had been ‘put in a queue’ and would not get assigned to a LIVE person to review all of this for 3 weeks—September 9.  Bill did not know that.  Giving everyone the benefit of the doubt, August 26 I asked B&T if they would come look at my Commercial property to ‘redeem’ themselves from all the snafus.  (I had since learned I really needed to replace the roof on my 4,000 sq. ft. Commercial Building due to hailstorm damage as well.)   To date—September 8, 2011—I have had no Response from them.  I just feel like I was NOT IMPORTANT to them perhaps because they had to deal with my insurance company or my roof was too small?  I was looking at having BOTH my HOME and COMMERCIAL BUILDING done and I know there was profit for the roofer in what my insurance paid.  Perhaps they are so busy they don’t need the work.  I don’t know.  What I do know is I have talked to 5 other roofers and B&T Roofing was the HIGHEST quote.  I did hear back from my insurance and got an additional $676 but that still puts B&T Roofing at $1,000 over my insurance payment and leaving me with $2,000 out-of-pocket with my deducttible.  I have been a member of Angie’s List for 15 years and submitted over 190 reports.  QUALITY is my #1 Consideration when hiring someone not price!  I did find a roofer that will be doing my HOME and COMMERCIAL Building for almost out-of-pocket expense to me and is rated quite high.  I am sure he is making a profit on my jobs just probably not as much as B&T wanted to make.

    Benchmark Roofing
Strange experience!    I called this company for an estimate for a new roof following a hailstorm.   The hailstorm was 3/23/2011 but I didn't realize I needed a new roof until June when I saw a neighbor get a new roof (I have a tax business so I wasn't home 3/23/2011 when the hailstorm hit).  This company was able to send out a representative 2 days after my call.  Louis (I believe) arrived on time and, after noticing that I lived close to a roofing competitor) asked what I thought about THEM.  I found that kind of strange and unprofessional!  After a short conversation and giving me a packet of information that he didn't really want to go over, he went upon my roof.  I think he was on the roof 5-10 minutes MAX.  Then he prepared an estimate and gave it to me.  I knew it was above what my insurance would pay and I noted such.  He immediately took it back, said my roof was HARD TO MEASURE, and said he could re-figure because maybe he could knock off some waste, and lowered the price $800!  I thought that was strange.  First of all I have the EASIEST roof to measure EVER!  It is a 1-story 1,100 ranch home with a 2-car garage.  CANNOT GET ANY EASIER than THAT!  If you think my roof is HARD TO MEASURE and it is easy how much confidence do I have in your ability to REPLACE MY ROOF!  NOT MUCH!    Also you didn't spend enough time measuring my roof!  Yes, THIS company is on my Insurance Company Blue Ribbon Contractors but after my experience I will PAY MORE TO GET PROFESSIONALISM!  Besides I do wonder what Quality you get when you hire a company that makes it money on QUANTITY not QUALITY?  I have used Angie's List for over 15 years and have submitted over 195 reports.  Most of the time companies with the highest number of reports in a category are a pretty safe bet to get Quality.  You still have to 'go with your gut' as well.  While I may pay more for a new roof than this company will charge me or more than my insurance company will pay for, I want I more professionalism than I experienced with Benchmark Roofing.

    UNION RIVER BUILDERS , INC
We contracted the work during the summer of 2008, left Brian to use his judgment in most matters and were delighted with his work when we returned the following summer (2009). Brian's work far exceeded our expectations, though he had dome much of the work on our cottage foundation a couple of years before - this also was excellent work. He also contracted to re-roof the cottage - very well done, on time and within budget. Brian has since done other projects for us (Wheel chair ramps, etc) His prices are fair, his work is excellent, and has always been within our budget.

He came. He removed old shingles and disposed of them. He replaced them with 30 yr architect shingles and ice/water shield. He was on time and budget. Professional and polite Took very few breaks and finished the job ahead of schedule. Price was as estimated, no changes. We were pleased with his work and would hire him again if additional roofing repairs are required.
