  • Came to look at work initially and said would do although far away from his home & wasnt making any money so he needed $50 for materials.  Gave him a check and picked a date to complete the work.  It was raining so didnt come but no call or email before or after.  I contacted them and they rescheduled but again no show and no call.  I called that day and they came the next morning.  He brought wrong ladder, handed me my $50 back and said call Angies list for refund.  It was over 30 days, so, I did not get refund back.

  • It turned out alright. We had a gap in the foundation and a lot of the foundation bricks had been, there were, the bricks needed to be repointed.  Some of the bricks had fallen out and it was the above ground stuff.  Between the ground and the house.  He was a really nice guy. Very helpful.  I liked working with him.  Worst is he said he was coming one day and then they called and said they were coming the next and then they didn't show up for the next five days and then they came without calling when we weren't home.

  • I chose Brian based on Angie's List reviews! Everything everyone says is TRUE. My home was left in immaculate condition. NO cigarette butts, no beer cans, care around my flower beds etc. This was the best work we've ever had done on our home's exterior. The time and care that Brian and his crew took were amazing. This project was started very late in the season as we only contacted Brian for an estimate in late July and, as you might expect, he was booked for most of the 'season'. The project took slightly longer than expected given the late start, and the fact that weather is ALWAYS a factor with exterior painting and beyond anyone's control. Regardless, Brian ALWAYS stayed in touch via email or text to let us know his plans. and completed most of the project (we actually ADDED things to the scope of the project that could not be done before the bad weather hit) and he will return in the spring to complete these added items for us.
If you are looking for a "cheap" painting job, this company is NOT for you. Brian charged what I consider to be a fair rate for the extent of the job (very large home) and the attention to detail in the workmanship that he provided. A man is entitled to be paid a fair days wage for a fairs day work, so this is not the cheapest company you can find, but in my opinion it is the BEST, and sometimes you DO get what you pay for.
I think what sums up our overall experience best is that we are planning to develop a long-term relationship with Brian and the carpenter he introduced us to, to help us "MAINTAIN" the house's exterior and also attend to the interior in the near future.

  • Excellent!

They were efficient, professional, on time, and were very pleasant.  They purchased materials and included them in the agreement.  I purchased the french doors, but he purchased the wood, siding, and all of that.

Due to quite of bit of rain that we had, it took about three weeks.  When the sun came out, they were here, and they were able to come and put a tarp up and continue working.  The agreement did say weather-permitting.

Bill, the owner, was here every day and he shared every step with us.  He was probably one of the best owners of a company that I've worked with.  It made a difference that the man who sold me the contract was actually here every step of the way and that stands behind his work.

  • We contacted Chris at Pine State Power Washing to pressure wash our vinyl sided home which had some pretty bad mold on the side of the house that doesn't get much sun. Chris came out to our house and gave an estimate the next day and scheduled the work for the next week. He was always on time, called before arriving, and did excellent work. The siding looks brand new. We enjoyed working with him so much we called him back to clean our carpets the next week.

  • I was thoroughly pleased with my interaction with Clarke Painting. I dealt with logistics with one of the owners, Scott, and he was very responsive via email and phone, always prompt to answer my questions, to bring up concerns of his own, and check on my satisfaction with progress. I had a problem house with badly peeling paint and I felt very good about their recommendations for how to handle that and the subsequent implementation.

The crew members were smart, friendly, efficient and trustworthy. They did a great job at every phase, including thoroughly cleaning up every day. I highly recommend this company.

  • In Feb 2010 I called 3 contractors for estimates. Clarke was the only response and Scott called within days. Estimate was held up due to snow cover, but was done by March. It was thorough. Do get a complete written estimate of what you discussed so there will be no surprises. You may have overlooked something as I did. But a change order was issued and done with no problems. The work was well done and my house looks GREAT! There was a lot of work involved. Communication was easy and efficient. Marc was on site regularly to oversee the painters as well as train them. He was a very good liason, efficient and knowledgable. The painters were polite and hard workers, even with the heat and hornets. They went the extra mile to ensure that my house was completed to my expectations and satisfaction. Expect some dents in your gardens but necessary clipping was well done. Clean up was exceptional on a daily basis. When we ran into carpenter ant damage that led to the discovery of water damage and rotting of the sheathing & trim from a leak in the roof shingles, their carpenter was on the job immediately. Found the problem and fixed everything including the roof leak and window that he had to remove and put back in. I found the quality and speed of the repair to be very well done, again with the heat and hornets. It did add another $2300. Which well worth it as it had to be repainted again. So I would highly recommend Clarke for your painting needs.

  • Due to the rainy summer, they got a later start than they had estimated. We expected that, so it was okay. They sent someone first to power wash the house. Then there was about a week or so before they started scraping and painting. At first it was slow going, because there was only one of them, but once they had the whole crew here, it was fantastic. Very professional, carefully-done work. Also, great folks--very pleasant. Clearly, they cared very much about the job they were doing. At least one of the three owner/partners came each day to make sure the job was being done correctly. This same group had done a house on our street, and we had seen what an excellent job they had done on that house. These guys really care about doing a job well-done. Would hire them again. A fantastic group. Don't know how their costs compare to other painters.
