Quality Home Improvement & Handyman Service
For what we paid, and for a professional painter, the work was surprisingly poor. There were drips, streams, and brush marks. The walls were new. There was no cleaning of the walls between coats, resulting a rough finish speckled with tiny bits of debris. The walls were perfectly smooth to begin with.

Reliable Handyman Services of Maine LLC
I will begin this review by saying that I spent all weekend on my roof shoveling ice and snow because there were two and a half feet up there and I was concerned about the weight and ice dams. This is the work I paid Steve to do and he did not do it. Needless to say, I am grouchy and out $350 plus missing the weekend that I really needed to be doing other things. I contacted Steve because of the other positive reviews. He took a few days to get back to me, and showed up when he said he would. He is a polite man and seems to have a lot of experience. The work he did was professional and tidy, HOWEVER he did not do the job he agreed to do. Steve came out and looked at the job. I told him I was stressed about the snow on the roof ridges and ice in the valleys. He said I shouldn't worry, he would remove all snow from roof, the ridges and decks for $300 to $350 and could be there two days later. I asked him his hourly rate and he said, "I would rather bid the job so everyone knows exactly how much the job will cost from start to finish." Although $350 is a lot of money to me, I was willing to pay it because my full time job has not allowed me time to shovel and roof rake as completely as I needed to this winter. Three major storms in a week really put me behind. He showed up to work at the house when I was at work, my neighbor said somewhere between 11 and 11:30. When I came home at 5, he was packing up BUT ALL THE SNOW ON THE ROOF RIDGES AND VALLEYS WAS STILL ON THE ROOF. He said he was there all day and worked really hard and his back was killing him and spent the next ten minutes explaining why he did not get on the roof to shovel as he said he would. He added that my roof would be fine without shoveling, I shouldn't worry. Also that I should remove my skylights and gutters. He never acknowledged or apologized for not doing the job, he just ranted about everything that was wrong. He charged me the full $350 even though he did not do what we agreed on. I paid him because I did not want to argue with him, and he clearly did work hard, the decks were clear as well as the lower part of the roof (the same places that I've been clearing all winter with my roof rakes). He said he got most of the snow, but you can see from the pictures that is not true. These are pictures I took after shoveling for 4 hours. My bad for paying him, but really, I am a skinny 61 year old woman and he is a 230 pound man. We were in my driveway, in the woods, I wanted to keep it friendly, even though in my head I was deeply disappointed and wanted to say, What the heck? He should have called me at work to tell me he wasn't going to do the work, instead of surprising me when I got home with the job not done and acting all mad and frustrated. "There was no way I was getting on that roof," he said a couple of times, and I wanted to say, why didn't you tell me that before you spent 5 1/2 or 6 hours doing work I could have done myself? If he had called and said he was willing to roof rake and clear my decks for $350 I would have said no thank you, I can do that myself, as I have been for years. For half that amount I would consider it a splurge to pay someone. I have left 2 messages for him and he has not responded. Mostly I am mad at myself for paying him. I have had to do the work and I am out $350. I would feel better about the whole thing if he had warned me ahead of time and given me a choice (as I mentioned above), or charged me less money since he did not do the job. Lesson learned: get agreements in writing, and be very very clear about expectations. Don't assume someone is going to do what they say, even if the other reviews on Angieslist are good.

Basic Needs Construction & Painting Co LLC
Ed was so meticulous and conscientious and came through with flying colors with all that I needed, and more.
I hired him to caulk all my windows, paint the trim on my multi-dormered house, and paint/save my porches.
I had wondered if my porches needed replacement instead of just paint. They were so hurt by last winter's frost heaves. He figured out a way to save their integrity and bolstered their footprints so that they are beautiful!
The trim job is wonderful. The house was new-construction when I bought it in 2010 and it now looks better than new!  Ed also did some major work building footings for a side porch that was so important to me.
Ed also pointed out potential problems, as he discovered them, so that I would be aware of things to look for with respect to any infrastructural issues.  I was so thankful for his input!
One of the best experiences I have had since settling in Maine. Thank you, Ed Goodfriend.

    Everything Home LLC
Wade Bryant and his team were very professional and very respectful of our ideas, home and yard. Wade was able to take our vision and turn it into reality and impress the heck out of us in the process. His attention to detail was commendable. Prior to even starting the project, he came by three different times to verify our material selections, styles, and ideas, while at the same time, providing excellent input and insight into our project.  Despite weather delays and a few cases of the flu, he was able to keep charging forward on our project and completed it within our timeframe.  His craftsmanship, ideas, and his teams hard work, have left us with a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the day, or to be able to go in and out of our home and still stay dry. We've received many compliments already from our neighbors. We are very happy with Everything Home's work and we plan on having them out to our place again next summer for another project!

    Mr. Bill the Handyman LLC
Contacted me to arrange mutually convenient time. Called to inform me of delay in arrival. Looked over damage and got right to work. Job was well done and finished within allotted time. Low key guy, who focused on getting the job done, not chatting with me. Finished job looks very good.

    Castonguay&Son

It went extremely well.  The work took two days to complete.  It was don in a professional manner, on-time and as requested.  They even finished any work which was left undone on the floor installation.  Floor installation was not completely finished because the supplier failed to provide the all the items as ordered.  This slight delay was NOT the fault of Castonguay and Son but the supplier.

Would be happy to use them again.  They do Kitchen and Bath remodeling, drywall construction/installation, cabinet refinishing/installation and other building tasks.  Recommend them to all.

    SCOTTISH HANDYMAN
Ian is an experienced and honest handyman. Recently he powerwashed and restained our huge
deck (over 1000 square feet) with two coats after replacing a few rotten boards.
In addition, he power washed the exterior of our house and re-stained the tool
shed as well. He did a fantastic job, which we are very satisfied with. Both
the job quality and cost were much better than those larger painting companies
in the Brunswick area that I had dealt with before.
Ian is very professional. He responded to my phone call quickly even when he was on
vacation. I recommend Ian without hesitation.

    Side Work
Mike came to look at a broken window. Instead of selling me a replacement window, he helped us to fix the existing one. He is absolutely professional and responsive to your needs. He showed up on time, didn't mind working around out dog and our renovation mess. he made us feel completely at ease. Mike has experience in manufacturing of building materials, sales and installation so he knows the products from the ground up. I would absolutely hire him to perform any other job that we needed. Honest, timely and good work quality, what else could I have asked for?
