Wonderful service, excellent crew, worked above and beyond expectations.
The crew was here for three days. The first two were rainy and cold.... but work went on. The last day was nice at last so the outside work could be finished.
We are so pleased with the work and the crew. (Hire a vet!)
This was expensive but worth every penny.
Thank you to everyone involved this project.

    K&J HEATING, Inc
I knew immediately that Ken Viger was the right man to replace our furnace. There isn't anything Ken doesn't know about the units he sells and installs and answered my questions  (and there were many) concerning the new units specs and warranty to the obscure. He is a man with a direct but professional manner and has a great sense of humor. Ken was punctual to a fault and stayed in touch through e-mail and returned calls promptly. I'd also mention that he is an amazing and highly competent technician and the installation and assembly of the new furnace bears this out. When the job was completed there wasn't a trace of the old furnace and the area was spotless. The new unit looked like a work of art and wasn't nearly as obtrusuve and noisy as the old one and now we have efficient, 21st century heating.

    Fontaine HVAC
We had tenants in our house for a year. We came to check out the house four months after they had left. Unbeknownst to us, they had the gas turned off rather than returned to our name. Condensation because of no gas caused the boiler to malfunction. The Fontaine workers worked tirelessly to repair our boiler, sending over another worker when the first one had to leave. This was all done without advanced notice. We called, they came. Workers and the manager were polite and extremely helpful. We are grateful for their hard work and dedication to the job.

Once work got started it was done in a timely manner. Had to wait my place in the work queue. A crew of two did it all and they worked extremely hard even on some very hot days. They were both quite personable and friendly. They did a full days work and if anything I had to keep at them to stay hydrated and take breaks during the hottest times. Materials were delivered quickly and efficiently. The guy who dropped the dumpster (for debris) did an outstanding job doing minimal damage to the lawn area.  A number of times I changed the job order by requesting additional things to be done (my fault, yes, it might have been smarter had I thought of this stuff before starting). Still and all they were able to work and deal with the changes and still get the mission done. There was a lot of debris but the guys somehow managed to get it all up and pack it into the dumpster in an efficient way. I was home during all of this and the crew was intrusive only as necessary to achieve the mission. Both the contractor and the crew were willing to answer my questions (even my dumb ones, and I had a LOT of dumb ones) without hesitation. The siding looks great, we've been complimented by many of our neighbors. The new back porch / deck thing is solidly built and once we seal coat it I expect it'll last a good long time. It has been 3 weeks or so since completion and we have had no reason to have to call them back for repairs or anything.

The old Masonite siding was a horror show. Found where carpenter ants had just moved in but hadn't started anything, yet. Exterminator took care of that, along with some pesky wasps or bees. D*** bees. Once the siding was off found all sorts of odd work that appeared to have been done by Tim the tool man, or whatever. The crew was able to deal with this stuff using their carpentry skills 'on the fly' so to speak and were able to do the insulation layer without too many issues. The siding went on fairly easy although the chimney area gave them fits. Pulling off the old siding was a nasty job, but they did it quickly and neatly.

As to the cost, we kind-of expected it was going to run a bit, but unlike shopping for appliances or a car, it is much more difficult to get any sort of accurate pricing info. We opted for a local company with a proven track record and history of many years of being in business. Fortin's has a good word-of-mouth rep and some background checking decided us on going with them. I'm satisfied that I got what I paid for and in the end that's all that matters. Yes, maybe someone else might have done it cheaper, but it's like having your car repaired. You can have your neighbor do it, or you can have a real mechanic do it and have it done right.  The contractor, Ron, was right up-front with us; there were no "secret gotchas".

In conclusion I would not hesitate to call Fortin's if I needed them. I would also easily recommend them for anything. If they can't do it, I'm sure they would tell you !

    Home Snuggers
It was a great experience. They did all the work from outside. They did not need hazmat suits, which was a concern. The work was completed in one day and they left everything cleaner than when they got here.
The temperature in our house is more consistant. One end of our house used to be at least 10 degrees colder in the winter and 10 degrees warmer in the summer. Now it is the same as the rest of the house. With a winter as cold as 2013/2014 is, I will spend a lot of money heating the house, but not as much as before the extra insulation was installed.
As a bonus, we don't hear as much of the outside noise as we did before. We can still hear it, but it is not as noticable.
I would not hesitate to hire them again when I am ready to update insulation in other areas of my home.

    Ron Cote's Burner Service
Ron has maintained oil furnaces & monitor heaters for us for years. He's dependable, knowledgeable & professional. Furnace had stopped working, he probed and tested it until he identified the malfunctioning control unit. Replaced it and got the furnace back up and running.

    Home Energy Evaluation Testing
Lauren McCarl responded promptly to my inquiry and made a timely appointment to do an energy survey of my home.  She performed a blower test, took infrared photos and entered the attic to locate potential problems.  She reviewed the results the same day, showed me the areas that needed work and helped me prioritize the tasks according to biggest energy return for the money.   She sent me an estimate a day or two later.  Her organization subcontracts the work and and makes sure it is done on time and correctly.  The contractor was punctual and professional, as was the crew and the quality of their work.  Lauren came by the first day of work to make sure the correct tasks were being done.  The contractor and his crew were respectful of my home and cleaned up after themselves well.
Lauren returned a week later to repeat the blower test and infrared photography.  Not only was the work done correctly, but decreased the air infiltration in my 2006 home by 18%!  The difference was felt immediately.   Lauren sent me a final written report of the results of the work and before/after infrared photos.  She also obtained a release for my energy suppliers in order to monitor energy savings over time.  Finally, her organization took care of submitting the paperwork necessary to qualify for an Efficiency Maine program that took $600 off the total cost.
I would not hesitate to recommend Home Energy Evaluation Testing.  Even in a modern house their work made a world of difference and was well done.

    Downeast Energy
We've been using their services for the last five years. I didn't have to spend anything this time. They have a twenty four hour service and that's definitely convenient. It's especially convenient for customers who have a service problem at 1am in the morning and if you don't have heat in the middle of January, that's a big deal. They were not the cheapest in terms of price. We've used them continuously for so long. We will use their services again in the future.

    Complete Home Evaluation Services LLC
Dewitt completed a professional energy audit of my written report, photos and a specific plan of action to better insulate my home, both the upstairs and the basement areas, in a timely manner. He also suggested potential contractors, some he had worked with and others he had not. He was honest, professional, provided the service at a reasonable price, highly knowledgeable and very personable, confident in his abilities, answered my many questions in my efforts to understand the subject matter. I would gladly work with him again. Thank you Dewitt!

    Advanced Spray Foam
In the late winter of 2009 I had a professional Home Energy Audit conducted by Complete Home Evaluation Services out of Brunswick, Maine (see separate report.) Based on that evaluatio, I then began the process of researching and evaluating my home's insulation needs. In the summer of 2009, after learning about the confusing topic of residential insulation while suffering through 7 Residential Insulation contractor consultations and (variable $$ and project outline) job estimates, contractors dealing with a newsprint based blown in product or the more expensive foam (open and closed cell option,) Advanced Spray Foam was my last listed contractor simply because of their distant geographic location from my home and their relatively unknown status as a contractor. I was more confused then ever about what needed to be done in my home to resolve the serious ice dam issue and heating costs by the time I contacted Advanced. Every contractor had a different proposal and the costs varied greatly as did the promised results. Over the passing weeks, the more I thought about the individual products, it became crystal clear to me that I very much wanted as clean and cost effective a product as possible. The more I thought and looked at the foam products available the more I became seriously interested in pursuing that option, an option I do not regret for several important reasons: closed cell foam simply does not mildew, it is not attractive to nor does it support any type of insect of bacterial life forms, it actually adds strength to the roof deck because it is applied directly to the underside of the deck, there is minimal only a temporary odor which is easily dealt with by airing out the treated space for approximately 24hours-since the product is hot on application due to chemical reaction it is important that the product be allowed to cool and cure. Now, as to Advanced Spray Foam. Todd Genest, owner, is honest, presented a clear, down to earth plan/proposal without any fuss or muss for a cost effective price. He is interested in insulation, he understands insulation and the product he supplies, he's certified to use the product he supplies, has no problem answering home owner questions and explaining things, shows up to do the job when and as scheduled, carries out the job as it is to be to meet the standards..just great to deal with. Dawn, office manager and Todd's sister, is also wonderful to deal with and highly knowledgeable. I just had the pleasure of dealing with Todd this past week 6/14/2010, when he insulated my basement: a joy and pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend Advanced Spray Foam as a company and would work with them again without question...it was a privelage for me..Thank you Todd and Dawn.
