    Stallings National Enterprises Inc
This is a company that I would hire again. I hired them at first ti board up my home due to a house fire, then found out that they would also be my contractor. They did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone.

    The Sharper Cut Inc
Let's start out with Bill is a very patient guy. Once we got our amazing design from them, I had a series of medical issues which delayed us getting started by years.  Once we were able to start, getting the HOA to approve the new arbor was a chore and a half. First we had to change the original design because the distance from the easement for it had changed. We had to redesign it to fit. Then it took forever for the building guy at the HOA to see the changes because he either lost the plans or was out of town/ country. This took months (about 5). Once we could get rolling Sharper Cut got the building permit and we were almost off. Right after miss utility came out to mark things, we got the snow storm. That added another 2 weeks. After that it went very smoothly. We were contacted by the foreman and verified everything. Sharper Cut took out the old arbor(which was about to fall down) and moved any of the bushes that needed to be moved because of the footers. At that point they moved the stones for the path to their new resting place. The actual builders of the arbor came out and installed the arbor. Sharper Cut did warn me that with the transplants, there was a good chance of those bushes dying but I wanted to move them anyway. The shrubs died, but at least they got a chance.  There was never any clean up on our part required. They were here for about a half day each time and the ones putting in the arbor were here for approximately 3 hours.
We still have the rest of the plan to do- like replacing the wood on the deck and and building the patio; not to mention all the plantings needed and the front yard redesign. We plan to use them for all of what we need to do. My husband and I were extremely happy with their work and recommend them to anyone.

    Estevez Aluminum
Again Eddie and crew worked to impress. This was a difficult job since the actual cement patio deck was very uneven and required a lot of attention to detail to get the new enclosure to fit and door to open and close smoothly. We had a small hiccup with the aesthetics of the removable screens due to my lack of input during the project construction. Once I had some discussions with Eddie he went above and beyond what I was looking to achieve and the final product was spectacular. I would highly recommend the services and professional folks at Estevez Aluminum for any patio cover and/or screened-in enclosure you may be considering. My lesson learned: keep in constant contact with your contractor to ensure that your both on the same wavelength. Don't expect them to read your mind. If you have good communication, wonderful things happen.

OUTSTANDING! Materials and construction are top notch. Team of two completed everything in only 4 hours. Eddie and son knew exactly what they were doing and did it well. The materials are high quality and they were put together in such a way that they should weather through anything Mother Nature could through at it. The entire project went way beyond expectations and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Provider offered a 10% discount on Angie's list. Note: After this installation I was so impressed with the work I hired Estevez Aluminum a second time to screen in the patio cover. See review dated Jul 15, 2013.

McGee Fence & Deck Co Inc
Overall, we had a great experience. Jeremy McGee project managed both jobs wonderfully since he had to get in a couple of specialists in order to complete both projects. For example, before the deck could be built, Jeremy arranged to have the air conditioning units moved to the side of our house and he arranged for a trusted electrician to complete the work for the interior. It was more than we wanted to pay, but the price was fair and there were no additional costs once the work began and both jobs were completed in just over a week. They were very professional and responsive to any concerns we had, therefore we are happy with the results. The only negative is that the electrician tracked in some mud on our carpet. McGee did steam clean it and offered to return if the stain remained once the carpet dries. They even moved some furniture back into the room for us.

McGee Fence & Deck Co Inc
In March 2010, we signed the contract and I made a deposit of $11,220.  After weeks of trying to find when the project would start - estimated at 3-4 weeks post signing the contract, I was unable to get in touch with Mr. McGee. I left messages on his phone and with his book keeper.  I occassionally got a return call that advised that they were having trouble obtaining the permits, that McGee's wife would go back and try again on Thursday, that the hitch in getting the permits was that they didn't have an engineer stamp, etc.  Finally, after five months, the permit was issued...   I learned this by checking the Charles County Planning and Growth Management website because by August/September, McGee really couldn't be reached.  I tried to be patient and waited a few more weeks, by November I resignd myself to the fact that something was not right with this situation.  In November, I sent a letter requesting a full refund of my deposit.  McGee contacted me in December and told me he would be sending a check in a week.  Well, a week came and went... I contacted McGee in January and he told me that the book keeper didn't send the check before she went on holiday break but he would take care of it within a week.  Well, another week came and went.  McGee finally called and said he had spent the money and this was his slow season and he couldn't pay me back.  Long story short, I contacted the Better Business Bureau, the Maryland Consumer Protection Division (CPD), the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) and obtained a lawyer.  McGee finally entered into a written agreement through the work of the attorney at the CPD.  He was subsequently served with suit papers just in case he decided he was not going to pay again...  He has refunded 75% of my deposit. Buyer beware - review the Maryland Judicial Case Search for the company and individual.  Check BBB although the information is scant and can be misleading.  I was so disillusioned to find that BBB administratively closes cases after 60 days if the company says they are working out a plan to make restitution.  CPD came through big and held McGee accountable.  They also advised me to file a complaint with MHIC.  MHIC hasn't finished their investigation yet.  I was surprised that in most of the responses to the state agencies, McGee's concern has been that information related to my complaint not be made public.  My suit is still pending - holding out for the last 25%.  Again, buyer beware...  I would not recommend this company.  If you choose to use McGee Fence and Deck, I strongly advise that you DO NOT PAY BY CHECK OR CASH and only make a minimal upfront deposit.

    Deck Cetera LLC
Deck Cetera did an excellent job building my 4-season sunroom and patio. I practically live in this room – the room is what I envisioned and I am so ecstatic with the final product. Colin was able to obtain the permits without any problems within weeks of signing the contract. I must admit, I was a little worried when he said the job could be done in 90-days. However, the permits were in place and his team was in here working when he said they would be.  They left my yard clean each day and even worked around me having to take the dog out occasionally. I was so impressed that this build did not disrupt my family’s life. The entire team and the building process was just what a homeowner would want the experience to be. The guys were very well organized, worked well together, and were highly professional.  To top it off - they started and finished when they said they would - even though Mother Nature didn't always cooperate.  Colin, Ms. Jean, Mr. Bob, Pete, Donnie, Dale and any others came through big with this project!  Colin's confidence in his team's  capabilities and their ability to produce quality results on schedule and on budget is unmatched. Their knowledge of the process and the products they use allowed me to relax and enjoy the building process. Whenever there were changes or I saw things I didn’t understand, Colin took the time and explained it to me. His insight into what the final product would look like and what would and would not work for the design (with a reason why) allowed me to make informed decisions. Further, I appreciate the concern he showed regarding my bad experience with another local contractor who defaulted.  Colin made sure he kept me informed during each step of the process so I wouldn’t be worried about having someone take my money again.    The 4-season sunroom and patio look absolutely wonderful. My neighbors have been peeping over the fence and before we put the fence back in place, were actually in the yard checking out the room. The finished room looks like it has always been a part of the house. They did such an excellent job with the sunroom and patio that I couldn't leave my front entrance untouched.  I can’t wait to see what they do with the front entrance. I highly recommend Deck Cetera - you won't be disappointed.
