    I bought a houseful (15) of different types of blinds from Value Blinds (3 silhouettes, 7 wood blinds, and 5 honeycombs). After comparison shopping, I found that they offered the best value for the great quality of product used. Not having one decorating bone in my bone, Frank was an absolute gem! He started by taking into consideration the rooms' locations relative to the sun's position throughout the day. He recommended the best types of blinds for rooms that faced east versus facing west as well as for the rooms in the upper levels versus those on the lower levels. He helped me select the perfect colors for each room. I just had the installation done today (actually ahead of schedule) and I love the choices that we made.

    The salesman came on time and hints seemed to be going well until I noticed that he wasn't really writing much down. As a result, I had to repeat and confirm my selections several times, even as he was heading out the door. The order was delayed without notifying me and the salesman did not explain how the installed shades would look. As a result, I had to order valances to cover the unsightly head rail. The valances were damaged not once but twice. We are now waiting for the replacements. While the installer was great, the salesman Thomas and people in customer service, Stephanie, Oliver, and others need training or to be reassigned. For all the time I spent trying to get someone to follow up, I would not recommend this service.

    This task was really too large for one technician.  However, he performed his task admirably.  The most challenging part of the task was transporting the oversized cleaning machine up the wood stairwell.  With professional courtesy, he informed me of the possibility of the  machine scratching the floor. After I located some mats to protect the floor, he proceeded to transport the machine to the second floor without any damage to the stairs.  The only problem noted with the process was small amounts of water and cleaning solution on the wood floor adjacent to the cleaned carpets.  The technician attempted to remove the  water and solution.  However, when it dried it left spots on the  wood floors.  I was able to remove the spots without any challenge.  In the future, technicians may want to to carry furniture covers to protect hardwood floors and stairs before initiating carpet cleaning.
    I would hire this company again to clean carpets!

    Mr. Handyman of Anne Arundel and North PG
    Stephan was very professional and on time. Not only did he put the shuttle back up, but also saw some areas around my exterior door that needed re-corking and did it for us. He also took a look at a leaking faucet also. We paraded him with countless questions about future home projects and provide excellent detail on have to move forward. I will definitely be using Mr. Handyman (Stephan) in the future.

    The provider scheduled someone to come out to our home for a 60 to 90 min estimate that began at 7 pm.  Unfortunately, that's where my satisfaction with the provider ended.  The salesperson was in our home for over 2 hours.  Although we have 27 windows to measure, another provider came out and accomplished the same thing in 45 minutes.  
    The sales person went into a long presentation on her iPad, which we didn't need, before she even began measuring.  We told her we just wanted to get to the bottom line, the cost, because we already knew what we wanted.  After she measured all of the windows she provided us with an estimate.  I pointed out that the Angies List special allowed us to get every 4th blind free.  She didn't like that offer and stated she gave us 25% percent off so we could get a discount on everything.  I was pretty sure the Angie's List provided a free blind and labor (it does) but by that time I just wanted her out of my house.
    My husband told her we would discuss the estimate and let her know in 1 to 2 days.  Instead of collecting her things and leaving, she said she would wait in her car and talk to her manager to see what he could do something about the price until we flicked our lights.  By that time it was after 9 pm and I was really upset with  her because I felt like I was at a car dealership.  I went out to the car and told her like we said earlier, we would be in touch.  She came back in to get her stuff and marked the price down an additional 10%.  I stood up to indicate the meeting was over and she just sat there and drank her water.  I told her we were tired and she finally got the hint.
    As I escorted her out and assisted with her samples so she would not have a reason to come back inside, she asked me would my husband really call, wasn't our privacy a priority, etc?  We never heard back from her and we're glad.  The whole sales pitch went way overboard and we purchased our blinds from another provider.

    They were very excellent. For my family room, it ended up causing five thousand dollars. A thousand dollar per window but it was beautiful and perfect when I look at it. I still love the treatment but now because of the fact that they use a plastic sheeting instead of cloth, it splits. It has to be restrung with cloth. The decorator was excellent. I had just told him over the phone what I needed and what I wanted and the decorator was so good. He brought me fabrics that came to be exactly what I wanted. It was the right color and it was wonderful. He didn't try to make me get what he thought I should get. He listened to me as to what I wanted and then he helped me find what I wanted that can make me happy. They did a wonderful job on that. He was always on time and ready to go because he wants you to get ready. He didn't rush you. I liked him a lot. He was very professional.

    I purchased the Big deal for $199 worth $400 of Kathy Ireland blinds. 

    I felt like the salesman wasn't clear in describing how the deal worked and ultimately I think I paid too much for one window. I did ask them for help installing new batteries in my motorized blinds and they did that for me as well. My approximate cost includes that additional fee.

    Scheduling was a pain. They didn't show up during the scheduled time frame during my initial measuring and I had to call to find out what happen. If he was behind he should have called to let me know he would be late. I waited around all Saturday morning and after that the scheduling just went back and forth for a while. When the gentleman came to measure he didn't have a ladder and needed to use mine.  I still had scheduling issues once the blinds came in. I called to schedule and a gentleman told me he would return my call and never did. I eventually spoke with Stephanie again and she scheduled it for me.

    I had to change my original rating of C to an F. I was overbilled after the install and was told the salesman made a calculation mistake and my balance due was higher. Stephanie didn't seem to understand how that could be suspicious after the fact and claimed there was nothing that she could do. Although my contract has a specific number. A good company would honor the amount on the contract. You would think with a six week gap between when I made my order and installation someone at beltway blinds would have caught that error and informed me prior to the install.

    Update 9/3/13- Owner called to apologize and offered to refund the overpayment. I accepted this apology and appreciate his following up to correct the situation.


    The install was on time and done well. I'm satisfied with that.
    Owner apologetic and discrepancy resolved.

    Budget Blinds of Annapolis
    I contacted this company for wood shutters. The owner talked me into the MDS composites. When I did further research, I found they were cheapest of the options, but he was selling them for the same price as the wood shutters. When I checked other locations for the same shutters, I found others prices much lower & I found the vinyl shutters that this company did not offer that I wanted for my bathroom & kitchen areas.
    I sent a cancellation notice, which he received on May 3rd per my delivery notification request. He called on May 24th - weeks after my cancellation notice was received - asking me about my basement shutters! I mentioned the cancellation notice & he told me he they'd processed the order anyway - 21 days after the fact. I told him that I'd cancelled per the instructions given & that I'd wanted the money back - $5220.00. I have received no return contact & no money back since.

    I only rate Next day blinds with a "B" for "quality of work" because of the mistake first time. The "quality of work" on the second installation rates an A+, I really like the way my blinds look now. Most of all I give the company an A+ for the way they responded to my complaint.
