They had great ideas when it came to the layout of our small kitchen to maximize storage. When it came to finishes, they provided great options that fit within our budget and took our kitchen to the next level. They recommended adding a feature wall and certain moldings that were true to our historic home's aesthetic. From the very beginning of every project, Richard and his entire team are clear about the process and what it will entail. Communication is grade A, as he is interested in helping you make your vision come to life. I can’t speak enough about the knowledge that he has in the field and his attention to detail. He not only knows the best products on the market, but he has a great eye for what looks good and values your input while making the best choice for your needs/wants, style and budget. He helped us decide paint colors for each of the bathrooms that we remodeled, helped us with the kind of marble tiles that would best fit the design of one of the bathrooms, and also suggested a great nontransparent type of window pane for the bathroom in the front of the house to make sure it can’t be seen into. Richard is very hands-on and isn’t just a name somewhere in an office. He’s always just a phone call away, and makes it a point to check in on-site to ensure that everything is running smoothly, because he is genuinely interested in the work that he does, always providing the best possible service & quality. The team leads are great at communicating as well, and they make sure that any unexpected issues (if any) can be mitigated quickly and efficiently. The end result always turns out better than expected. We’re very happy with RIBA’s services, and highly recommend using them for your construction and remodeling needs. AExterior MedicsWe engaged Exterior Medics for a reasonably complicated roof / water damage repair—all of which was exterior work. From our first contact, they were extremely good with communication through the estimating, quoting, and project execution phases. They were accommodating and speedy with changes I requested after starting, and when disassembly of the damaged areas showed more damage than originally assessed, they were speedy and reasonable with the change order quote for a more complex repair. The teams performing the work did excellent work which was completed on schedule—despite the changes and additions in scope. During the project the EM project manager (Arash) did an excellent job keeping us informed about progress and what was going on. They also took and furnished pictures extensively throughout the repair, documenting what they found and what was required to remediate everything. For the quality of work, the transparency, communication, and reliability, I certainly felt we received a good value for our money. They worked to make a potentially-stressful engagement as painless as possible.- Howard C.

AAvec Construction IncGenerally went well. It took a long time to get the permits, but I don't think that was the contractor's fault. Once we finally got started, the work was completed quickly. There was one problem in that it didn't pass inspection at first, and they needed to add more supports (the additional supports really do look like an afterthought, but they're not too noticeable) - I do think they should have understood the requirement when they laid out the deck. Also, they don't do the sealing, so I had to find someone else to do that (but I did, and that was fine). They did have someone to repair and finish the stone patio under the deck, and he did a fantastic job! The county wouldn't let me replace the steps, so I had the patio expanded to cover that area, and it blended perfectly with the older part of the patio. So overall, I am very happy with the results, and would use them again.- Beverly B.

AAvec Construction IncKati, her husband, and their crew did an outstanding job. They removed a worn, wooden deck and walkway and installed a Trex deck, aluminum railing with low-profile steel cables, and acrylic lattice. Kati was meticulous from the beginning: drawing out the plan, deciding on materials, arranging inspections, and adhering to the timetable. The deck railing was delayed because of COVID but everything else went like clockwork and the job was completed by early Spring. The crew kept a very clean job site and took the time to answer our questions. We are happy to recommend Avec and would hire them again.- Patricia A.

FTerrible, the job never started. Mid-Atlantic is sub-contracting for Lowes. The person who was in charge of submitting the application for the permit, did not submit the application. She informed me that she submitted the application on 6/12/2020. On 7/2/2020, she stated that she was sure the permit had been issued and was only waiting for Lowes to deliver the material. On 7/17/2020, we contacted Prince Georges County office for building permits, we were informed that they did not have an application on file for my property. Just to be sure we called again, and was informed that no application was on file. An hour later, spoke with Mid-Atlantic office, again she informed me that they submit the application and she would e-mail a copy of the receipt, this was on a Friday afternoon. She did not send proof of submission, but called back later that evening and stated that she was not in the office, but would send the receipt on Monday, 7/20/2020. No response at all. I contacted Lowes store manager, and provided him with the events. He called Mid-Atlantic and she informed him that she submitted the application in Anne Arundel County, who informed us that they had not received an application, and if they did they would reject because the property is in PG. County. Finally I called her again on 7/22/2020, she said she never spoke with Lowes manager, and again she stated the application was submitted and she would send proof, she also stated that they pay someone else to submit the paper work, and PG County lost the application. I called the installer at Mid-Atlantic and left a message, he never returned my call. This company has office personnel that can’t tell the truth and obviously can’t do her job, lie after lie, this sounds like someone who has some serious issues that could be related substance abuse or alcohol, I’m not saying that these are her issues, she could just be lazy.

ACould not have been more pleased with the quality of the work and the finishing of the woodwork. The crew showed up each day on time and worked a full day each day and had our porch finished, screened and ready for the painter and electrician in a little over a week from starting the project. The porch is just beautiful, and the owner and the carpenters were delightful to work with.

AProDeck was great to work with! We hired them to build a 600sq ft deck that a previous decking company was having trouble getting the permits for. Four days after submitting the paperwork with county, ProDeck got the permits! The previous company we hired, we were 4 months in and still waiting. AWhere do I start?! As soon as we met Deane, we knew he was the contractor for us. We did a lot of research and after listening to about five contractors and seeing their estimates, Berith was for us! Their pricing was excellent! They removed a load bearing wall, installed all beams, obtained all permits, met with all inspectors and performed such a fine and detailed finished product that we are MORE than thrilled we used Berith Builders. They completely gutted and designed an open floor plan to include a show worthy kitchen with an 11’ island, family room, powder room, new windows, an elegant dining room, new floors, refinished the stairs, added iron railings, created an upstairs laundry room, a master suite with a big walk in closet and a master bath in stone, tile and granite. The 5’x7’ master shower is amazing and the little touches like crown molding, custom cabinets, insulated sunroom doors, dining room wainscoting, pocket doors and oil-rubbed bronze finishes everywhere are show stoppers. They made great recommendations to little problem areas in our house. Needless to say, we are in heaven! Their customer service is top notch and every single person who came through our home felt like family. We couldn’t recommend anyone else any higher and know you’ll be pleased with Deane!

AOriginal concern was structural integrity. Came out promptly for an inspection. Noted only minor issues which could be addressed easily. Also suggested stair and rail restoration, which I agreed to since the 20 year old rail was no longer visually appealing, and the staircase was no longer level. Received a detailed estimate within a few days. Gave a deposit and got on their schedule. Less than 2 weeks later, a crew arrived early, as scheduled. They worked on the project for the entire day, nearly finished and left the site clean. Came back early the next morning for final detail and clean-up. My concerns about structural integrity have been addressed and the deck looks great. I am happy.
