About Us

Maintaining your pet's health and well being requires a high level of trust among doctor, patient, and owner. At South Carroll, we provide individual attention and personalized care with a detailed diagnosis of your loved one's condition, from simple examinations to complex surgeries. For over 30 years, our family of veterinary professionals has been there for you. Since 1976, South Carroll Veterinary Hospital has been serving the Carroll County region with complete animal care. Our founder, Dr. Ronald L. Schueler, began the practice from his Eldersburg home, accessible around the clock for all pet emergencies. Through hard work and devotion, the hospital has now grown over the years into the current state of art facility located on Georgetown Blvd. Dr. Schueler's daughter, Dr. Karen Schueler-Dennis, joined the hospital in 1999, and now continues the family tradition of personalized care into this millennium. Her training, both nationally and abroad, brings an enhanced skill set and knowledge to treat your pet comprehensively and compassionately. South Carroll Veterinary Hospital is conveniently located in the heart of Eldersburg, Maryland. We have ample parking, a safe area to unload pets and there is a convenient grassy area next to our entrance in case your pet has an “emergency.” One of the first things you will notice in our facility is its cleanliness. We are adamant about maintaining a healthy facility — all surfaces are sanitized no less than twice a day. Our hospital employs progressive veterinary equipment that includes state-of-the-art ultrasound diagnostics, laser surgical equipment, and advanced patient monitoring systems. We also utilize heated surgical and recovery beds to keep your pet as comfortable as possible during and after procedures. South Carroll Veterinary Hospital strives to be as green as possible. We utilize Energy Star compliant appliances and office equipment. We recently transitioned from traditional paper client files to a more environmentally-friendly “paperless” practice. And for the small carbon footprint we leave behind, we purchase carbon offsets from CarbonFund.org (a leading non-profit carbon offset company), which makes us effectively “carbon neutral.” We owe no less to our clients and patients than to impact their environment as little as possible.
