    First State Orthopaedics
A Back injury from a auto accident, after being sent to physical rehab associate of First State Ortho. I was talked into a spinal fusion by my attending surgeon, he seemed a typical skilled surgeon who is very good at operations but could not remember the patients name if his life depended on it. The surgery was a complete failure and when the good doctor realized that his art did not cure me I was relegated to a nurse practitioner until they dismissed me completely , matter of a few appointments when the nurse practitioner was told by my surgeon to send me to a pain management facility and that they (First State Ortho) would not see me any more. The staff at the office was always polite but rushed moving patients in and out as quickly as humanly possible. The office did have x-ray facilities on site in the office. I never felt welcomed there, always like a product being worked on and dismissed. When it became clear that the surgery did not work and in fact I was in more pain than before the surgery the surgeon became short and aggravated with me telling me it could not be his work that was my problem , it had to be something else! Do to the treatment I received there and the manor in which it was given I could not recommend anyone accept a spinal fusion performed by Dr. Rudin, nor treatment at First State Orthopedics if one needs a compassionate physician and staff, with the exception of the nurse practitioner who was great.

In the beginning the treatment plan was aggressive and the office was always very busy and over crowded, with people standing and waiting for hours to be seen or have a procedure preformed. In those days Dr. Frank Falco himself would actually see patients, I have not seen him in years now. there are always new student doctors who do the preliminary interviews then a staff doctor will come in and ask a few question obtain prescriptions and be gone. after attempting to get patients to undergo one procedure or another. My self the good doctor wanted to implant a medication pump in my stomach cavity with a tube running to my spine to directly pump medication to the effect area in hopes it would be better than oral medications, this device had to be filled by an injection by hypodermic needle in the office, something I was not comfortable doing so Dr. Obi the #1 partner of Dr. Falco reduced my oral analgesics by ten because I refused what I considered a approach not for me, Drug test are forced upon patients , if you want to be a patient there you must submit to expensive drug test to protect MAS of course, so hope your deductible is not too much many are! I fee; Dr. Obi practices blackmail medicine , if you don't do what he wants you have pain medication that is working for you taken away, another example, he wants to have me undergo a sleep test on their premises of course, I agreed and when I showed up at their sleep center on the designated night I was sent away because my insurance provider would not approve or pay for that testing. A while later Dr. Obi comes in after the student has already attempted to sell me on some procedure they are pushing that month, he tells me because my insurance provider won't approve the sleep study he is going to further reduce my pain medication ? Is it me or does this sound like medicine by force or blackmail as I see it? I have had to wait in an back exam room for up to seven hours to obtain my prescriptions, six hours was common and a really good day is two to three, so your time as a patient is worth nothing but their time is very expensive if you miss an appointment and not covered by your insurance! The staff are jackal and hide some are natural with no personality and others treat you as clearly a bother, if you question anything or don't smile enough you are labeled a problem patient, so don't dare complain about the long wait, oh no! There are exceptions of course, on days when the doctor is not available then one can come in at the specified time and obtain their prescriptions from the clerk at the front of the office, sign and go, I still have not figured that one out, but why look a gift horse in the mouth? Once I had my medication stolen from me by a family member and when I called in for help Dr. Obi my close friend told me there was nothing they could do, I would just have to live with it and he hung up, now I am on strong pain medication that the body gets used to and when it is no longer there it hurts badly, my ability to function becomes extremely limited with pain that is off their chart. They have a kit for patients that find themselves in this horrible situation but it was never offered and I found out about it by accident from a staff member who matter of factly threw it in my face.! Why an I still a patient there, because as they know the common practice among pain clinics and orthopedic offices is if a patient has been with one clinic for five years or more no other clinic or office/ doctor will take them on as a patient, I tried over thirty in my area and rejected by all of the ones that answered me. Think very carefully my fellow pain suffers before hooking up with any office or clinic and leave at once if it is like this place and don't stay over5 years , please !!! I would give anything to be a patient anywhere else but I found about the 5 year rule after five years. when this is read by someone in the office I presume I will be thrown to the street but it others can avoid what I have been through it will be worth it! Is this a doctor you want taking care of you?

How did it go? He paralysed me. Dr. Zhu 'accidently' cut a blood vessel in my spine causing me to be paralysed. First, the pain was so horrific, it felt like someone poured acid in my blood. Then I had NO feeling from my waist down. I was rushed to the Christiana Hospital ER. Thank God and Dr. Kennedy Yalamanchilli who performed an emergency procedure to reverse the damage caused by Dr. Zhu. Within 16-hours I was able to wiggle my toes. :-)  As a result, it has been hard. Really hard.  - This 'accident' changed my life.  - It's taken 18-months to regain 80% of my strength.  - I had to leave my job. (Thankfully the organization I led provided a 'bridge' to the next chapter in my life, a chapter taking shape to be full of hope and opportunity.) When I asked Dr. Zhu if he intended to make things right so I could be whole, his response was no. In fact, he billed my insurance. In addition, I had to pay all other expenses to repair the damage.  Think twice before getting a spinal cord stimulator.

    Sayeed, Dr. Faisel
One of the injections in my back became abscessed and put pressure on my spine. I woke up 10 days later I was unable to walk!  I had to have emergency back surgery to relieve the back pressure.  This doctor said he explained the risks, but he did not!  This man was very negligent without telling me the risks of these injections!  It will be almost a full year before I am back to normal.
