    Pro Spex Home Inspection Services
Stephen Pilara: This inspector is one of the best inspectors a home buyer would ever dream of, hands down. My Experience: I am a first time home-buyer and Stephen P very professional. He arrived early! introduced himself and got straight to work. My entire inspection was a education lesson for me. I learned so much about the homes history, maintenance and repairs. He was extremely thorough and TOOK HIS TIME. This is the type of inspector you want. Not someone who will rush through your home, and avoid explaining and breaking down concepts to you. You want someone like Stephen who is KNOWLEDGEABLE, PATIENT AND METICULOUS. Prior to meeting him I was anxious about the inspection but after meeting him I felt that the inspection was in more than capable hands. Even my realtor stated she had never worked with a more professional inspector. Stephen Pilara is the definition a perfect trustworthy inspector that is on YOUR SIDE. Overall, this company is amazing. Friendly staff! Organized! I am sure their other inspectors are also great judging by Stephens work. They give you a comprehensive and detailed report with pictures and videos! Hands down, you will never o wrong with the quality of Stephen Pilara and ProSpex!

ee hired hann and hann for to perform lead abatement (sanded doors to make sure they fit properly, and performed lead abatement on all lead containing surfaces). The crew that came out was very professional and seemed to do a very through job of ensuring all surfaces were adequately covered during the work. We also hired them as they were lead certified by EPA and Maryland. I think they were very resonantly priced and we are happy with the work they did and would hire again. I will say that they could have a better job communicating with us the time/scheduling of the job. Overall though we were quite pleased and would hire again.

    VIP Restoration, Inc
They gutted the entire home to the studs for a kitchen fire. Went into my basement where they were not to touch. I had framed it out. Throwout my unused studs my new wardrobe and cloth on to my front lawn. We had agreed not to touch this area. Then told me I had not mentioned this to them. Thank goodness I still had the text exchange on my phone to verify this. It will take about 3000 to repair the damage they caused. I checked yelp they got a consistent one out of five stars. They were the first to contact me. But a big expensive mistake.

It went exceedingly well. I called the company and Bob Ciangalini even answered his own phone. I was very impressed by Bob because he was punctual, knowledgeable, and just plain nice. We knew that the tiles contained asbestos, but when Bob came to our house, he correctly pointed out that the mastic (glue) might also contain traces of asbestos. He removed some mastic and had it tested by a local lab, and he was correct. The price is higher than some other companies, but, in my opinion, this company is worth the extra cost. Bob responds very quickly to any phone inquiry and the removal is professionally done and relatively quick. Would definitely use this firm again and would recommend them.

    Radon Abatement Services
I contacted Mr. John Swett by phone, leaving a voicemail. Someone from his company called back to get all the particulars of my situation. After answering those questions, Mr. Swett called me to confirm some things. He was ready to send a crew in just a few days but I needed to wait a week. The crew came as scheduled, did a super job of determining how to best vent the radon gas, added electrical circuitry and put two holes in my basement slab and one through a basement wall, added the external fan and the remaining outdoor piping. I then retested my basement and the score was 1.0, versus the 5.1 it had been before. I found the whole operation to be extremely professional and talented.

    Air Land & Water
I hired Air Land and Water to remove ~120 sq ft of vinyl asbestos tile in my basement. The owner of the company, Larry, arrived at my home to look over the site before the rest of his team arrived shortly thereafter. They built a containment area out of plastic sheeting and created negative air pressure within that sheeting with a HEPA air filter that exhausted out through my basement door. When they were done, they took air samples and examined them by microscope to confirm that the air met relevant asbestos standards. After confirming this, they cleaned up and took the tile away. A few days later, I received an email from Larry with written air quality test results. Overall, I was very pleased with their professional and prompt service. I was also impressed that the owner of the company was onsite to make sure the job was done right. Separately, I was amazed at how difficult it was to find an abatement company that could explain what they would be doing and why. Unlike typical contractor jobs, where the work is visible (e.g. new floors) or easy to understand if it works (e.g. plumbing installed correctly to code, not leaking), asbestos remediation is hard to understand - you can't go in there while it's going on, and although there are requirements, it's hard to understand what they mean in terms of how the job gets done and your own safety. I recommend that people considering abatement check with the Maryland department of environmental protection to ensure that a company is up to date on their certifications (Air Land and Water was at the time I hired them). For whatever it's worth, Larry, the owner of Air Land & Water, is a Professional Engineer, which to me meant an additional level of, well, professionalism.

    DNA Pro Cleaning & Restoration
DNA Pro cleaning did a great job cleaning up my basement carpet after my sump pump failed during a month when it rained 10 inches. Here's what I liked: - They were able to provide service in a timely fashion despite great demand for their services after a period of heavy rains - I also bought the five room deal for general carpet cleaning because I needed it, and I was pleased that their products are not smelly and eco-friendly - The first technician (David?), determined that I would need to remove the carpet padding near the sump pump, treated both sides of the carpet, and set up a super drying fan for a couple of days - The second technician (Francisco?), installed the new padding and treated for mold prevention - Both we on time, knowledgeable, and friendly as was dispatcher, Mike The whole job was done in less than a week of when I first called. They were even able to meet a deadline I had for guests coming to visit. I was happy to recommend them to my neighbor when their turtle tank broke and flooded their basement a few days later. I would absolutely hire DNA Pro again. Nice work and great service!

    Basement Systems USA
In childrens books, the story always ends, happily ever after. Home projects do not always end that way. I contacted several companies associated with solving problems with wet basements and was confronted with the problem that each company focused only on one of the problems, but my project involved not just substantial water seepage under the front wall of a 43 year old home, accumulated mold, installation of drainage at the down spout, replacement of the moldy and worn carpeting, and replacement of original ceiling tiles in the associated rooms (utility, study). Basement Systems offered services that included all, each service was clearly documented in the contract, and each was explained noting a range of prices. There was no pressure to sign the contract so I had time to consider not only which company to choose but also which available service best met my immediate and long term needs. I hired Basement Systems and was placed on the work schedule. A week before work was scheduled, I received a complete schedule and what my role was in preparation. When I had questions, Mr. Dave Ryan, project manager immediately clarified. The work crew arrived as scheduled, removed from the immediate work area furniture, books, etc, covered all with plastic, covered the floors upstairs with plastic and initiated the project. I was onsite only the first day but had no anxiety leaving the crew. They were carefully supervised by the foreman. A bin for the construction debris was so helpful as I began discarding items from the attic as well as the shed in the backyard. I officially began downsizing. The work was scheduled for one week but completed in four days. I was quite surprised when I arrived home on the fourth day and saw all the furniture replaced and the rooms swept clean. This not yet the ending of this story. While discussing the project with the estimator, he suggested hooking up my dehumidifier to the installed sump pump system. It was definitely not in the contract I signed but an important service given my current physical limitations. A few days after completion of the project when I answered an email and survey as to my satisfaction with the work completed, I mentioned this service. Without hesitation, Mr. Ryan agreed to hook up my dehumidifier noting accurately had it been in the original contract, it would have been done. I believe I have my happily ever after ending. If things need fixing or altering, I know I can depend on Basement Systems to make it right. In my experience, this is an exceptional company with employees dedicated to providing service.

David diagnosed the problem. He and his workers were extremely professional and went over and above expectations to provide timely and quality service. When we had a further problem he came and fixed it without charge. I recommend his company and him personally without reservation.
