He is wonderful.  All my daughters go to him. He delivered one of my daughters and my daughter just had a baby so that's how long we have been following him. I can't believe that I  found a doctor that would deliver my baby and deliver two daughters' babies. They have a nine months and a two months old granddaughters and he delivered them.

My doctor recommended genetic testing for brca gene. He told that someone would stop in. As I was getting dressed a lady barged in the room and handed me a brochure. I had some questions and would have liked to talk to her. I also had a lab test that came back with an issue. The person who called me could not answer my questions and just sent a prescription.

The office is very comfortable. He is excellent. He has got a great sense of humor. We always get along well. One of his assistants had to deliver my firstborn because his wife was in the room next to us. We have a long-term relationship with him. They are all very good and if for some reason he couldn?t deliver your baby, you?ve got a whole team for back up.

Not surpisingly, Dr. Bridges was his usual self. I've been a patient for more than five years and he delivered my four year old daughter (by c-section). His bedside manner is wonderful!! I have never felt rushed and he has always taken the time to answer all my questions. I had health issues during my pregnancy which required the c-section. Dr. Bridges was tremendously kind and helpful in the months leading up to my daughter's birth. He helped make the delivery a peaceful and enjoyable event and I am grateful. My family will be relocating to Charleston this summer but I intend to remain a patient.

I was very disappointed with the service provided at this office.  While my one well visit (routine checkup) was fine, all of the appointments I had for my pregnancy were very disappointing.  It started with the receptionists/nurses who were often rude and who, on more than one occasion, spoke loudly about patients while others were in the waiting room (both medical and personal information, as well as their opinions of the patients).  I found that very unprofessional.  Also, I almost always had to wait quite a while for appointments - I would say on average 30-45 minutes, but at one appointment, I waited over an hour and a half.  I was finally seen by the doctor at almost 5:30pm, after the office was technically closed.  With the nurses and doctors, I routinely had to correct or remind them of how far along I was with my pregnancy, which led me believe that they rarely reviewed my chart before coming in to see me.  Early on, I had bloodwork done and was not informed of the results until several weeks later, at which point I was informed I needed to start a certain medication.  I was called about starting this medication the day after I'd had a checkup with one of the doctors, which I thought was ridiculous - why would they not have the results ready on the day of my checkup to discuss them with me?  I had naively assumed the bloodwork was normal until I heard back from them the following day.  Finally, an older male doctor saw me when I had complications and make extremely insensitive remarks.  He had absolutely terrible bedside manner.
For reference, I saw Dr. Laurin (who was friendly but who did not seem to review my file before seeing me, which I did not like) and an older male doctor who seems to have either retired or left the practice.
The one thing I will commend the office on is that their office administrator called me to ask why I decided to switch to another doctor and when I discussed my experiences with her, she was extremely apologetic and even waived the fee for copying my records.
Perhaps there are other locations of this practice that are better, but I had a poor experience with the Rockville office.

I've been a patient at Simmonds, Martin, and Helmbrecht for about two years. Over that time, I have seen Angel (midwife), Dr. Cara Simmonds, Dr. Holtzman, Dr. Martin, and Dr. Jones.
I had a very bad experience at another practice and decided it was time to switch. I wanted to see a midwife as I was looking for someone who would have better bedside manner (and hopefully more answers) than the doctors I had seen at the previous practice. I first saw a midwife named Caitlin (who is no longer there, but who was wonderful) and then Angel. Angel was wonderful - took the time to answer all my question, asked a lot of questions about my medical history, did a very thorough exam, and then discussed options with me. I spent almost an hour with her and I truly appreciated that. In the end, I had to switch over to the doctors in the practice because my medical needs were just a little bit beyond what the midwives traditionally do. I'm still hoping to go back to the midwives at some point.
I then saw Dr. Cara Simmonds. I have seen some less than favorable reviews for her, which surprises me because I thought her bedside manner was great and she truly went beyond the scope of what an OB-GYN does and into fertility doctor territory. I really appreciated that. She was willing to try treatments with me before it would have been absolutely necessary for me to see a fertility doctor, and fortunately, one of those treatments worked for me!
During pregnancy, I saw Dr. Holtzman, Dr. Jones, and Dr. Martin. I'll begin with Dr. Holtzman since I saw her the most and she delivered my child. I would say that Dr. Holtzman, who I believe is new to the practice and is young, is still working on her bedside manner. While she is always polite, she sometimes appears aloof or that her mind is somewhere else. After several visits with her, I came to think that this was just her way of "analyzing" information and that she was actually "present" for my visit. But in the beginning, it did throw me off. She always took the time to answer my questions and there were only a couple times where I felt like she was unprepared for my visit (i.e., that she may not have looked at my file or reviewed my ultrasounds, which were done by a different doctor). During labor and delivery, I was uncertain of her plan (I had a prolonged labor and after a day I wondered why she would not do a C-section), but looking back, I'm grateful she did what she did and I feel more confident in her ability and knowledge. As I said, I think Dr. Holtzman is still finding her rhythm, so to speak, in terms of bedside manner, etc., but I think she is a highly competent doctor.
I saw Dr. Martin once for a minor medical issue during pregnancy and while our visit was brief, I thought he was wonderful! I would have loved to see him more but it did not work out. He was kind, polite, personable, and competent.
I saw Dr. Jones once for a routine pregnancy checkup and I was very dissatisfied. It was the only time I've had a negative experience with the practice. If you have read other reviews for her, my complaints will sound very similar. During our 15-minute visit, she acted like she was pressed for time and could hardly be bothered with my questions and concerns. It was early in pregnancy and I had many questions as a first time. Some were admittedly a little crazy, but I didn't go overboard with questions (maybe 4 or 5 max) and I felt that she should take the time to answer those questions, seeing as I was only going in at that time once every four weeks for about 15 minutes each time. She acted like my questions were ridiculous and dismissed my concerns and told me I was "too worried." As an example, one question I asked was whether it was okay to use seat warmers in cars - a question which, again, I will admit was a little bit crazy, but seeing as I had only asked two other questions (both of which were more "rational," about medications and bloodwork) during our very brief visit, I felt like I wasn't taking up too much of her time to ask about this. She rolled her eyes and told me that I was way too worried. She then told me that hot showers, hot baths, and hot tubs were all safe. (The fact that she included hot tubs made me pause and after Googling this later - I thought maybe all the hot tub warnings were outdated - it seemed like she was in the minority in saying that hot tubs are okay during pregnancy.) After this exchange, I explained to her that I had had previous issues with fertility and experience with loss (which she would have known had she read my file) so yes, I was concerned and worried. She softened slightly after I said this, but I was already very put off by her demeanor. I made it a point to never schedule an appointment with her again.
As far as the nurses/receptionists go, I have always found them to be very friendly and professional. It seems that some people have had negative experiences with them, but I wonder if these are people who had arrived late or wanted to reschedule at the last minute. Pregnant ladies can be quite feisty, and during my many appointments, I saw firsthand some of the people that the nurses have to deal with. I made every effort to respect my appointment times and their requests (for paperwork, payment, etc.) and never had any issues with them. They also always had my paperwork ready to go when I arrived for my appointment and knew exactly what I was there for. I have not had the same experience with other practices in the area.
Overall, I would recommend this office (either the midwives or doctors - with the exception of Dr. Jones). Their new location on Rockville Pike is large and beautiful!

I went to the Rockville office. I choose to come here based on research that I did on a perinatologist in the DC area and independently this office was referred by my OB. Dr. Pinkhert, Dr. Manley are both great doctors and have provided a lot of sound advice and recommendations throughout the pregnancy. The ultrasound techs, specifically Maria and Jill, are very good and they describe what they are doing when they take measurements.
The significant issue with this practice is the front desk. I have been seen here roughly 13 times. 0 out of 13 appts have they honored the appointment time within 20 minutes. On average I wait for about 30 min - 1.25 hours and since I had to be seen on a weekly basis - this really becomes a 2.5 hour appt . On occasion, I have heard patients complain about how long they have been waiting, and the typical reaction of the front desk is a stern response that they have no control over it leaving no choice to the patient other than to sit back down.
I had been going so often (sometimes 2x/week) because of issues dealing with preterm labor so they wanted to keep monitoring. They had advised bed rest and asked that I stay reclined and not sit in a normal chair for more than 10-15 minutes. The problem is when going in for the appts, I would sit in a normal chair for almost an hour. I started to get nervous about this and decided that I would show up 15-20 minutes later since I was never seen on time. A lady at the front desk reprimanded me for showing up late. I decided not to take it up with her because I'm trying to keep things calm given my pregnancy challenges, but I was surprised that an office that is known for long wait times actually found it justifiable to reprimand another for being late.
In general - the doctors and ultrasound techs are great. The wait times are certainly very long. The front staff is sufficiently curt and many times unhelpful.

I've been with OBGYN and Associates for over 10 years and the docs are great, and they delivered both of my children. Unfortunately, the staff who answer the phones and greet the consumers are miserable excuses for customer service. I've had several problems with them over the years but most recently I've had enough.
A prescription that Dr. Kator wrote for me (after careful discussion of my needs and what would best suit me) needed preauthorization and when i called the office to let them know and give them the number to call, I was told that they and quot;don't do thatand quot; and that i needed to listen to the prescription message. Well the messages says that they don't call in prescriptions anymore and the pharmacy needs to fax in a request. that's all well and good, but this didn't fall under that category. I tried to explain it to the woman and she insulted me by telling me that it was my responsibility to get the preauthorization. I told her that was exactly what i was doing - calling them to do it as it's something a doctor must do, not a patient! in the middle of my sentence she transferred me to a nurse. The nurse who answered the phone understood, and took the information. she told me to wait 4-5 days. It is my observation that the practice is so overwhelmed with patients that they cannot provide full patient care. patient care involves following through on the treatment prescribed, and when the prescription needs additional work, they cannot just pass it off and refuse to do it. I will no longer use this practice.

I had recent surgery with Dr. Tyau and Dr. Resta and I couldn't be more pleased. The procedure was well explained, my options were well explained so I was able to make an informed decision and surgery went smoothly. It's a good feeling to know before surgery that you're in good hands. This practice is the BEST!

I use whichever doctor is available at Capitol Women's Care. The doctors are phenomenal. Their front office could use a little work in organization, because they've got a lot of different offices around the Washington, D.C. area, Rockford and Bethesda. A couple of times, it's just been a little bit frustrating because they won't tell me that they booked me at a different location. When I call to make an appointment, I show up at the Rockville office and they say, and quot;Your appointment is actually in Bethesdaand quot;, and there's no time for me to go there. So that was a really frustrating. But it's not a reflection on the doctors there. The doctors are very knowledgeable and have a great bedside manner. They were there throughout my entire pregnancy with my first daughter and answered any questions I had. I had a lot, because I was a first time mom, so I would call the practice quite a bit and they were just very responsive.
