I wanted to switch doctors and hospitals due to a recent move, so I asked my provider to print out my medical records and fax them to this office. Then I made the appointment. I was told that I needed to do the 1 hour initial visit with a midwife, and there was no availability on initial appointments until Sept. 11, 3 or 4 weeks away, and a week before my due date. I finally got an appt. with one ...

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Considered changing to this provider late in my pregnancy. The doctor was nice, affable, and did a decent exam, but was distracted looking for information in my medical records that didn't seem to require an immediate answer.

Midwifery Care Associates are outstanding. This was my first pregnancy and it went perfectly, thanks to them. We'll continue to use them. They not overly alarmist. They're very laid back and treat pregnancy as it should be treated, as a normal part of your life. They're don't just care about the baby. They also care about the mom. It's a very nice holistic practice.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
They were my midwives for the birth of my first child.

We saw Tara, one of the midwives. She is great, she took her time in talking to us, she was available to answer questions and was very supportive and kind. She was very good explaining things when the pregnancy took a wrong turn. She is very thorough and professional but also warm and she doesn't rush through the visit. On the other side the rest of the office staff is not very helpful over the ph...

I transferred into this practice at 36 weeks. I thought the care i received was professional and competent. I met all the midwives, who were all very supportive of my birth preferences. I gave birth at Shady grove Hospital with Tara, who was amazingly skillful. Along with my awesome doula, Ursula Sukinik, i am convinced the birth experience i had (and wanted) could not have happened with a traditi...

However, my baby went past his due date and despite multiple non-stress tests and biophysical profiles that were all completely normal, I was strongly pressured to induce labor. This despite the fact that my baby had not dropped yet, and I was barely effaced/dilated. As can be expected, the induction wasn't working well. After 2 days of non-progressing labor, it was finally starting to work. Angel...

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
I switched, in my first trimester of my first pregnancy, to the midwives because my previous gynecologist does not do OB, and the other doctor in his practice was not a good fit. My goal was to have an unmedicated natural birth. Since the practice has a very low c-section rate, and my understanding was that midwives are very pro-natural birth, I thought it would be a good fit. During the prenatal period, I was very happy with my choice of providers. I mostly saw Angel at the White Flint office, but also saw Karen, Dorothy, and Tara (and one other who went out on maternity leave). They were all great.
