Hospital Care reviews in Rockville

  • Upon admission, the staff immediately assessed and prioritized my mothers condition , obtaining information from me as to what happened, when, and then they went into action. Over the next 24 hours a battery of imaging procedures wee performed and a physician informed me that she suffered a major stroke and that her (previously very independent ) life would never be the same. This was a tough thing for her and me to hear. The following two days the doctors and nursing staff really did a great job, not only in caring for my mom but in giving me an the family that flew in from afar information on what to expect. The coordination and administration of care among various specialists was outstanding. The attention to detail, cleanliness, and hospital routine was impressive among all staff from top to bottom. The hospital provided resources so well that there was an on site representative there to act as an advocate and to schedule / coordinate he transfer to an acute rehab facility. My mom (94yrs old) far exceeded the doctors and my family's expectations and is now living at home with family and a home . I have spent my time with family and friends at every hospital in the county and I would easily rate Suburban as the best among those in the area.

  • Provided that th Wilmer Eye Institute is part of a teaching University, I had an appointment with a resident. The resident was excellent, had a thorough understanding of my diagnoses (it is very rare). She provided top notch service, as I have seen multiple retina specialists throughout the east coast.

  • The waiting area is pleasant and the ER was tidy and well-maintained.

The registration person was exceedingly polite even though I vomited (!) while he was taking my information.

I was seen immediately for a quick evaluation by the ER Physician, Dr. Greg Cope, who was very reassuring, helpful, and knowledgeable.

The nursing staff was quietly competent and available.

I was given all appropriate tests, diagnosed, and treated quickly.

In my opinion it is the best ER in my area.

  • It was for my husband. We went to the ER on a saturday eve. due to how he felt and not able to get a BP reading on him at home. He is a heart patient. They were fine and efficient. The only reason I gave a B is because they could not find a manual BP apparatus as the electronic one was now recording. They said there was one somewhere but they could not locate it. Quite interesting in this day when every thing is electronic. Not always the right chose. Other than this the nurses and doctors were very nice and the place was very busy that night.

  • Overall, excellent service. Nurses were friendly. Enviornment was quite clean. The rooms are of very good size.
In the improvement areas, i would say that at certain times nurses did not attend us on a timely basis. Usually we had to contact a couple of times for the nurse to come to our room. Although it varied from nurse to nurse. Some nurses were very good whereas others just proivded an average service.

  • The delivery nurses were great. The post-delivery nurses were okay - they had a hard time interacting with me given that my son was in the NICU and not with me in the room. The NICU doctors and nurses were absolutely fabulous, and I am so grateful for the excellent care they provided to my son. I wouldn't hesitate to go to Sibley again in the future.

  • I went into the ER with chest pains. They were not overly busy, but took over 1/2 hour in waiting room before being seen. I have heart problems. I finally got my heart doc involved and then got seen.

  • Excellent bedside manner, follows up with you in a timely manner, knowledgable, ethical and explains everything really well. They are clean and organized and just top notch altogether.

  • The ambulance takes me to the hospital where they admit me with a UTI but they don't do a culture and sensitivity. They start me on IV antibiotics and oral antibiotics but they don't know if it is the right antibiotics or not. They have a list of the 50 medications prescribed for me by my doctors but the hospitalists don't write for these medications. Every day it is a different hospitalist. The orderly who took me up to my room was offended because I said the lights hurt my eyes. When he got me into my room, he shut the door and then squeezed my hand so hard that it bruised my hand and it hurt where my hand was burned. Then he began to roll me into a cocoon and he was going to throw me from the gurney to the bed. I told him he was not to touch me, but he continued rolling me into a cocoon. The CNA opened the door and I told him what he had done and was doing. She said he didn't mean to hurt my hand and he said nothing. She asked if I was going to help move to the bed or were they going to move me. I said he was not to touch me. The nurse came in and I told her the story. She told the orderly to leave. He said: Good luck to you with her. I said I wanted the CNA gone and she said the same. Then I was moved with great pain to the bed. I asked for my pain medications and I was not given anything for pain even though I have a 48 hour pain patch at home and pain pills 2 times daily at home and could be increased under these circumstances. They gave me none of my 50 medications except one for mood disorder. The second night I had 5 severe seizures and realized I was not receiving my seizure medication. I called for the nurse who responded 2 hours later after I called the main switchboard. She said I was receiving all of the medication my doctor ordered which is what they always say--all that the hospitalist ordered. I told her I was taking her photo and sending it to my daughter so she would know who refused to give me my seizure medication. The nurse said she would break my cameral. I took her picture with her book in front of her face. She came back and gave me my 3 page list of medications. She told me to pick one and she would give it to me that night. The rest would be started in the morning!! I said I needed all of my medications but she refused so I chose gabapentin for seizures. The next day all of my medications were started and I began to get better and said I wanted out on Friday morning. My floor was never mopped--the patient might slip on a wet floor--and the soiled linens from other patients' rooms were put into plastic bags and stored in my bathroom because I was given a bedside commode and not allowed to take a shower or even helped to wash up any of the 4 days I was in the hospital.

  • They were horrible and the staff was very unfriendly. They were bothered only about themselves and were understaffed. They never took care of my husband and charged me a nursing fee. I will never use their services in future.
