    When I spoke to the manager, maybe the owner, he could not have been nicer. When we discussed the problem at length, he said he thought the problem was not the transmission. Since I was concerned about driving the car all the way to his shop, he suggested I have the car evaluated by my local mechanic. He said if it is the transmission, he would arrange to get the car from the mechanic and figure out what it would cost. Though I don't remember now, he gave me a ballpark figure for a rebuilt transmission. I heard from family that Whitcraft has a reputation for fair prices and good work. As it turned out, the transmission was not the trouble, and we had to trade in the 2003 car for a later model. I would recommend this business with the utmost confidence.

    I feel fortunate to live within a few mile's of KC Automotive and have been able to use them for all my family's car service needs for the last 15+ years.  Chris is 100% honest, fair and reliable - he's a real world 'common sense' person to talk with and his prices are better than the dealer's.
    While I generally do my own oil changes, air filter, and tire rotations, it's good to know that Chris and his crew are there to service all my auto related needs in a timely and fair manner especially when I get behind on things or just need one of a car's 'bigger' service schedules done.  Some years ago Chris even installed a rear wing/spoiler on a new vehicle for me - a service he normally does not do - but which he did an excellent job with.
    His shop location may be a bit hard to find the first time, but he's got a great shop and adequate parking once you pull in the driveway.
    It's best to call ahead and check with Chris to book a time - he also has a drop box for night before drop off.

    I Brought my Taurus in for an alignment around 6 Pm. I received a call that evening the car needed new front wheel bearings.
    I told them to go ahead and do the work. They called later and said that they would recommend new tires also.
    I told them to go ahead and do the work. I stopped by in the afternoon the next day and paid for the car and returned later to drive it home.
    As I picked up the car after hours, I noticed that when I started it, the check engine light came on. I did not bring the car into the shop with that issue. I drove the car home and I heard the distinct sound a bad bearing makes. This is kind of funny as prior to going to Mr. Tire, I had not heard this sound nor did my check engine light go on. I drove the car to work the next day and hear the bearing noise all the way to work and had the check engine light on. After work that day, I drove the car back to Mr. Tire and told them about the bearing noise and check engine light. They said that they would look at it. The next day, no one called me about the car. I decide to take a ride to Mr. Tire and I noticed the car is siting on the lot. I inquire about the car and told that they didn't know anything was wrong with it, but would now take a look. I wait again until the afternoon and no one calls. I cal them and now I am told the car is complete.
    I leave the car there that night and pick it up the next day. When I go to pick it up, I am not told what is wrong with it. So,I ask and told that the mechanic misdiagnosed the noise wrong and it was a bad back bearing. Which they replaced at no charge.
    So then I start thinking that I paid for 2 new bearings that I didn't need and they gave me the back bearing, no charge.
    They said that they reset the check engine light and it was good now. It came back on when I drove it home.
    I had had enough, so I took the car over to the local Ford dealer and they diagnosed the problem as a broken vaccumm line, which was caused by the incompetence at Mr. Tire. That cost me another $200.
    I decided that although the dealer is more expensive, it is worth it to take my cars there, I know the job will be done correctly and I don't have to keep returning.I will never use this shop again.

    They explained the services they offer and I wasn't sure what to get.
    So they took a look, no charge and their recommendation was my transmission was fine and it could use a flush.
    130,000 miles I was certain they would try and con me.
    They explained what they saw and said don't waste your money.

    Very easy to deal with. Had the vehicle towed to the shop and picked it up a few days later after hours, having paid by credit card over the phone. I never did meet anyone there in person, but discussions over the telephone were professional and it was easy ot make arrangements to pay my bill and pick up my vehicle.

    Our 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan had a transmission problem. I called 5 different transmission repair shops, including a dealer, to get the worst case scenario pricing and warranty information. As expected, the dealer had the highest price. Whitcraft Transmission gave us a fair estimate, a 1 year warranty and they were the closest in proximity to where we live. I met with the manager Greg who was very professional and friendly. They made the diagnosis and said that they recommended rebuilding the transmission "to the original vehicle specifications" replacing any worn parts, rather than replacing it with a rebuilt or remanufactured transmission. He said that the work would take 4 to 5 days. Actually, the vehicle was ready in 3 days. A few days after we picked the vehicle up we noticed a minor issue with the cruise control which they took care of on the spot. Currently, the vehicle is riding well without tranmission issues. We would utilize their services again, if needed.
