Siding reviews in Potomac

This review is only for my interaction with the sales representative during my attempts to get an estimate for the project costs as outlined above. I would not advise to contact this company if you want to receive an estimate in a timely manner. The sales rep wants to meet with you for an extended time, and then he will want to meet with you again to pressure you using their "unique" sales approach. During the time that the sales rep was at the project site, he had agreed to getting me an estimate as I had made clear that I wanted to see numbers. I also agreed that I would be willing to talk about it on the phone after seeing something tangible first. Over the course of about two weeks, I had agreed to changing appointment times, and I adjusted my personal plans to accommodate the estimator. While I was not promised a specific time by which I would receive the estimate, I thought that a week from the visit would be a reasonable time, given that all other siding contractors provided estimates in two to three days or up to a week after stopping by. I called the sales rep a week later to ask when the estimate would be ready, but he denied having promised an estimate, stating that he needed to talk to me again to go over this without providing numbers. When I stood firm in asking for at least some numbers, the sales rep became quite combative and rude. At that point I realized that this would not be a good fit for me. I found that there are many courteous contractors out there that are happy to provide competitive estimates for siding and trim, without hard sales tactics and fishy terms.

We are in the middle of a large home-reconstruction project and subcontracted the roof, gutter, siding, and window work with Prestige Home Solutions LLC @ 3500 Boston Street Suite 423, Baltimore, Maryland 21224. The total cost of the project was estimated at $75,000.00. We have already put down $25,000.00 cash as a deposit with the company and financed the remainder. The roof was put on the house and $20,000.00 of the overall funds was released from the bank upon completion of that part of the job on July 21, 2017. However, the Prestige Home Solutions LLC company left the gutters in disrepair as a result of the new roof work, with the promise they would be back to replace the gutters and repair the damage. After many rescheduled start dates and claims that materials we had ordered were not in, we began to worry. We were promised a finalization of the project by July 27, 2017 and then again by August 3rd, 2017. No one showed up or called on either date. Meanwhile, there were multiple rain storms causing water damage from non-functioning gutters and drainage systems from the house and we did not heard ONE word from the company. We emailed, texted, and called the company no less than ten times without one word back from them into the month of August, 2017. Finally after more months passed and continued ignoring of our attempts to contact the company, we were able to get the company to come back and fix the problems, but only because we turned the matter over to our attorney. On good faith, we continued on with the company to do the remaining siding and window work. But again, we ran into the same problems; incomplete, shoddy, and untimely work, and complete lack of responsiveness to our attempts to contact the company to finish the project and fulfill their end of the contract. Here we are an entire year later, with an incomplete project AND once again needing to take legal action with the company. We would like to report Prestige Home Solutions LLC to consumer reporting agencies to let others know how unprofessional, irresponsible, lacking in skill, follow-through, and integrity this company has.

They have a good project team. However; the Sunshine salesman misled on ( 1 ) their team can keep the trim molding details when applying capping on my colonial house. This led me accepting their price, which is 35% more than other company offered using the same material. The project team tried their best but the molding details are still lost after capping. (2) their team will replace the old soffit with their new kind, which will provide better ventilation to the roof. However; they only cut the venting area off on the old then covered it with the new pieces. Not sure if the ventilation would be better or worse since the old and the new are stacked together. The salesman made multiple mistakes when updating the contracts - incorrect pricing breakdown and/or total price, sent wrong/old copies to customer, forgot to make updates here or there; just to name a few.

We obtained three estimates for our project. Each company spent two days evaluating the project. Two companies gave us estimates the third inexplicably never contacted us again. Shiners was not the cheapest but it was close and we felt that the estimator gave us a better explanation of what needed to be done including an explanation of proper venting, some possible additional costs for lead testing and the need to have Pepco involved. They also walked us through the process of having our power shutdown. The front office was always responsive. When the time came the work was scheduled, it took a while but that was because of weather and Holidays. Otherwise the work was done promptly, the area was cleaned afterwards. We had two small problems one cosmetic and one functional. They were repaired in a timely fashion. We are happy with the results, and have survived several rain and windstorms without problem.

HOA's requested us to replace the rotten wood in the exterior of the house (window frames, frieze board, 2 upper level rake boards and corner frieze board). Mr. Omar came out personally the next day I talked to him and gave me a good advice on what what to do. I had 3 other quotes (including a friend of mine) but Mr. Omar's gave me the best quote (and to replace the wood with PVC material!) and he came very recommended from Angie's list. He's also kept his promise to clean up each day (because other contractors around the neighborhood left their work stuff laying on the ground). Overall, we're very happy with his work and the professionalism he and his crew displayed. I highly recommend his company and will use his company again in the future.

The crew arrived on time and were excellent. They listened to our concerns, worked quickly and safely, and took care of few extra issues that we pointed out without any fuss. Great work. They could have been a bit better about cleaning up aluminum cuttings afterward, though this was made more difficult by the leaves down in the yard at the time. The B on responsiveness is solely for the main office re: the silent period between the time we put in a down payment and the time we were contacted about when a work date might be set - one call or text would have helped us plan and know what to expect. Again, the crew was great and quite responsive to our requests.

Basement looks beautiful. Luis and his team did a fantastic job as usual. We have used them for the past seven years for various projects. Over the years, they have replaced and painted outdoor wood trim, painted other rooms in the house, changed light fixtures, deck planks and steps, exhaust fans, updated kitchen backsplash and reattached aluminum trim that fell off during a rain storm. We are so confident in their work, we will definitely continue to use them!

Upon his inspection, Aza found out and showed me that the damage to the sidings was more extensive than I had thought, so he updated his work plan, and offered me a very reasonable price for the extended project. We agreed, and they went ahead to complete the repairs as planned. They worked punctually, did a thorough job, addressing all the issues. I would definitely work with them again on future roofing and sidings projects.

The repair was completed. It was satisfactory. Since Shanco said that it needed to buy the whole box of the sidings, the total charge would be on the high side ($625) for such a small repair and replacement of sidings. And it did take Shanco a while (45 days) to show up and do the repair (11/14) after signing (09/30) the contract. I will certainly consider to use Shanco for a much larger repair project in the future.
