Water Heater Repair And Installation reviews in Pasadena

  • I sent the following review to Len the Plumber, and I requested to be contacted. Almost 3 months later, no one has contacted me. 1. Appt was from 12 - 4 p.m. Tech arrived around 6. 2. I gave the part that was sent by Rheem to the tech. He didn't even know what some of the parts were for. I gave him the instructions and said he might want to read them. 3. He quoted me $350 to put a part in that I already had (he was in my house a total of 45 - 50 mins.) I think this is an exorbitant price for less than 45 mins of labor. PLUS, the original $49 tech fee was not deducted, as I was told it would be, when I made my appointment. I feel I was taken advantage of, since I was at the mercy of the tech to install the warranty part sent by Rheem. 4. Originally flame for pilot was a controlled regular flame (when it lit). After tech installed new pilot assembly, the flame was a rolling flame all along inside the bottom of the water heater. Still not fixed since pilot light extinguished. 5. He said the pilot assembly didn't correct the problem, so I asked him to try to figure out what was wrong with it. He said he didn't know, and suggested I get a new hot water heater and gave me quote. Since then, I called Rheem again, and they told me next step is to check the thermal release device. Why didn't tech? He should have known to do that. He did nothing to fix it. 6. I am thoroughly disappointed with the service I received.

  • As always, late in the evening on a Sunday.... the water heater decides to rupture, not a mere leak around the heating elements either which is a DIY job; and I'm leaving for a business trip on Monday Eve! I start calling, then web searching. Fill out Chesapeake's web form and I get a response within the hour to my email address... ON A SUNDAY Night! Next morning, follow up by phone, give the model and serial number; told they can fit me in and replace the unit in the early afternoon. Got a ballpark quote over the phone I was okay with. John arrives, early afternoon as expected. Introduces himself, friendly and personable, checks the job and gets to work. Doesn't waste time, has no issue with me being nosey and watching how he does the job, I'm renting, if not for that, I would have done the job myself. He's very good, watched him eyeball the copper pipes, cut to length and he's spot on... then I rather enjoyed watching how he sweated the copper for the solder... very nice job, clean and not sloppy. The man's a pro, I admire professional work. No wasted effort, no re-dos, and he replaced the shoddy looking valve joints put in by the previous installer. (I did introduce him to a new tool for slugging metal plates for electrical wiring he'd never seen before, which he'll now be adding to his toolkit, it's much better than hole saws. Glad I could help, just a little. LOL) My point though is that it was a very professional job, painless, complete with good conversation, and he even provided tips to me during the job in case I have to do it myself in the future. I'm not going to be specific about how long the job took, but it was fast and efficient, his billing was accurate and under the phone quote. Yes, I tipped him, which is not something I usually do. Summary: Chesapeake Plumbing, Inc. was professional, responded quickly and after hours, charged reasonable rates and were under the quote. They also didn't replace the unit with some cheap *** big box store brand water heater and jack up the unit price for maximum profit. It was a nicer AO Smith Residential Water Heater, not the most expensive highest end unit, and not the cheapest low-end either... a good sturdy workhorse unit with good brand reputation IMO. I'm very pleased with the experience, people and equipment. If I wasn't renting this place, I'd have done it myself because I'm more of a DIY guy, but in this case, it was nice to let a professional do it and get it done far quicker than I could have done. I will do business with them again if I need plumbing work, highly recommended.

  • Alpha Plumbing did an excellent job with the replacement of my water heater. I coordinated the replacement of the water heater tank at the same time that the floor in my condo was being changed. Alpha Plumbing coordinated with the flooring contractor so that the floor could be changed in the area where the water heater was located. They had to come twice- once to remove the tank and the following day to bring the new tank and install it after the floor had been changed. The new tank was installed according to new code and everything looked neat and clean. Very professional.

  • My husband and I have used Alpha Plumbing several times over the past 3 years and each time, they performed a superior job. We found them on Angie’s List and they were not only very proficient in their work but friendly and courteous. They replaced an electric water heater, repaired valves on 2 commodes and replaced one valve in our shower. They were very focused on doing the jobs thoroughly and we couldn’t have been happier with them. We highly recommend Alpha Plumbing to anyone who requires plumbing services.

  • We are selling our home and these were the repairs we needed to complete for the buyer. We used Alpha Plumbing before when we did the kitchen remodel for the home we are selling and they did a fantastic job which is why they were our first pick for the job. I didn't bother calling anyone else. Chuck came out during the time frame they gave us and did a wonderful job. He worked fast and thorough and we were completely satisfied with the work. We already have them scheduled to install a new water heater in the home we are buying and plan on having them do the plumbing for the kitchen remodel in our new house. The office staff is super helpful and on top of things. Michelle was able to coordinate the scheduling so we could get this repair done quickly and that will keep us on time to close on our house. She also provided a pdf invoice we could email to the buyer's realtor showing what was done. I would highly recommend Alpha Plumbing for any plumbing needs. They are the ones to call.

  • Someone came out and gave me an estimate on what it would cost to replace my hot water heater. It wasn't cheap of course. No plumbing work is. I decided to go ahead and have them install it since I've had them work on other things in my house before and really liked them. It went very well. In a half a day I had a brand-new water heater which was in code in less than a half a day.

  •  I have been having issues with my pump not pumping the chemicals into my system and it's giving me low pH and iron in my system. I called the fellows at Tapp Water Systems and they came out at the agreed time, in fact, they called and came out a little earlier than expected. This time it was an easy fix and I wasn't charged because I am a long time satisfied customer but I have had Tapp Water Systems servicing my system since 1998.

While I was in Afghanistan in 2011 I got a call from a family member stating that they needed to replace my system .  Based on my experience with this company I didn't hesitate and I allowed them to go forward with the installation of the system with full confidence and not one question about the money. I always expect the best service and quality for my money and when it comes to this type of work I have the company I need. I'm writing this review because not enough people talk about the good moments, they only want to talk about when they are not happy that they have to pay money. I will pay as long as it's worth it and if these guys tell me something is needed I don't question I just let them take care of business.

Special thanks for all your service Tapp Water Systems especially Fred W. And Mike D.

  • Fantastic. We were lucky and caught the leak very quickly. I called and Amanda immediately dispatched help and they were at our house in 10 minutes! Phew! John was very professional and quickly called backup to bring an extra part for a leaky pipe.  Two technicians quickly worked on our system and made it better than before with brass instead of copper.  Very fair price and worth the quick response and quality work!
While here they checked out our hot water heater for free and said it was a-okay. Thanks again and thanks for saving a basement catastrophe.

  • We got an estimate for free, if I recall correctly, thanks to an Angies List deal. We also were able to use another discount deal for this company through Angie's List.
The Plumber arrived on time and was dressed neatly in a uniform. He covered his shoes in my home.
I appreciated that he explained to me what was wrong with our water heater and what exactly needed to be brought up to code. He did not rush and answered all my questions. He explained the breakdown of costs to me multiple times, which I appreciated as we were comparing plumbing companies.
