    Brothers Pavers, Inc.
Brothers is an excellent company. Elvis and his men did a really nice job repairing my brick steps. They were very responsive, and completed the work In a timely manner. The work was neat and no mess was left behind. I would hire them again.

Xtra Care Landscaping & Design INC
My husband and I could not be happier with the professional design services, and expert installation overseen by Angela the Owner/Designer and Brian the supervisor. Our front yard is now the envy of our entire neighborhood. Neighbors, family, even people in cars passing by our home stopped by to admire the design and asked for information and business cards. The colors chosen, choice of pavers and plant materials were specifically chosen by Angela to enhance the beauty of our home. She is 'AMAZING!!!! The professionalism, courtesy, expertise, and skilled laborers far exceeded all expectations. I would highly recommend Xtra-Care Landscaping and Design to everyone I know.

Concrete Master Solutions & Home Improvement
Getting a firm commitment from the office staff could be a little challenging at times, but given that this and most of the work this company does is weather-dependent, that's somewhat understandable. Once the work was started, the work ethic of the employees was absolutely first rate. My steps and stoop were completely demolished and replaced with newly poured concrete. The masonry work was also absolutely top-notch. Matching 50 year old brick is next to impossible but they found brick that comes as close as possible and the end result was an absolutely fantastic look.

    Economy Craftsmen Services/EC Services
This was a large project. A Fiberon Deck (composite) and Flagstone patio. The craftsmanship of the project was 5 stars. The employees were extremely friendly, punctual, and amazing craftsman. I do not have one complaint during the 2 month process. Their open communication was helpful and I did not expect the final product to be so grand. This has added to the overall enhancement to our house not to mention years of fun for our family. I strongly recommend Economy Craftsman Services.

    American Professional Chimney & Masonry
This is a two part review. Part 1: The team for the sweep showed up early, went straight to work and swept the chimney. After the sweep, the lead advised me that my crown had cracks and would eventually fail and need replacement unless it was sealed, and that a brick in my chimney needed to have the mortar redone. By the way, this company pointed this issue out to me last year, but I couldn't afford it. He provided me with a quote for the extra work, and included a military discount, because he noticed on my Van the DoD stickers on the windshield. The sweep was well done. Part 2: American Professional Chimney, the day before I planned to call them reminded my by email of the quote. When I replied that I wanted the work done, they sent me an electronic signature link to authorize work. They met my schedule request. And called me to confirm. The team arrive a few minutes later than planned but in my area traffic stinks. I showed them where the water and electric were, and they went straight to work. I also had a loose brick on my fireplace, they fixed that during the time they had to wait for the crown sealant to dry (and since rain occurred the team lead wanted to inspect the work to ensure no weather impact). He also texted me before and after pictures. So, I am going to give total cost overall sweep and crown repair. Sweep cost was $89. Crown sealing cost and fix mortar issues was $315. It would have cost WAY more to replace the crown.

    JLI Services Inc.
I have to say that my experience with JLI has been less than satisfactory to say the least for the following reasons:
    1) I was at the house that i am fixing up a little before 8AM this morning to meet the mason Joel. He showed up around 10:50 AM, close to 3 hours late.
    2) In order to be able to install the sliding glass door, concrete needs to be installed under that surface for the door to go onto it. Unfortunately, Joel did not have the right kind of cement that would dry quickly (despite just being at Home Depot, and knowing (or should have known) that I wanted to install the sliding door the same day. Since it took him over 90 minutes to go purchase the correct cement, that is another delay.
    3) I had scheduled this job well in advanced, and made it clear how important it was for me to be able to install the door the same day. This was not able to happen because of 1) Joel being 3 hours late, and 2) Joel not having the right type of cement and incurring additional delays.
    4) The concrete was laid by 2PM. It was very warm, and the windows installers estimated that it probably needed another 2 hours to be sure that all the moisture was out before they felt comfortable installing the windows... as a result, since they needed to leave by 5PM, they did not want to twittle their thumbs for 2 hours or leave after 5PM... therefore, the sliding door install had to wait until the next day.
    5) Looking purely at an hourly perspective, I note that 3 men came on site (not sure if they were all licensed seemed like an assistant and picking stuff up and did not deal with concrete; the other did part of the cutout, but needed the main mason Joel to take over because the cut was not straight). The window cut out took about 50 minutes. Joel came back, and the cement work was about an hour. Assuming the time for all 3 men for the cutout, this represents an actual total of only 3.5 hours of labor, not 8. Assuming only professional mason labor, it totals less than 2 hours work if one excludes going to home depot to get fast acting cement, something that masons usually carry with them.
    6) The reason that Joel had estimated 8 hours in the first place was that he thought he would spend most of him time taking out the side bricks of the frame and replacing them with other bricks with a face, since the bricks were cut. I did not deem this necessary, since I can simply put some paneling or something else. As a result, this time-consuming part of the work according to the estimate was not really needed, and it would have been useful for me to use the other hours for some other task. Joel said it was raining though so he could not do any other task today. They seemed to have other things going on that day, and did not want to stick around. As a result, I am not sure what happens to my other 4.5 or 6 hours or masonry that I paid for?
    7) Also, I am not sure how a mason contractor operates, but most individuals that I have hired clean up after their work. Instead, Joel refused to clean up and left me with a big pile of rubble that is still sitting in my backyard.
    • The bottom line is the following:
    1) That evening, I was left with a big hole in the side of my house and a pile of rubble. At least, my windows guys were there the next day before 8 putting in the slider.
    2) I paid for 8 hours of labor through Angie's list and only got 2 or 3.5 depending on the definition of an hour of  "Professional Masonry Labor."
    3) I called many times that afternoon, and Monday morning, and sent an email to Lindsay at the main office with the points above because I was upset and wanted a resolution. No answer.. nobody picking up the phone.
On a positive note, Joel did perform the cutout correctly, and after a comment from my window installer, he did get the concrete slab level for the slider install.

Winter set in befor we could schedule the work at a time convenient to me, but they eld the offer until the weather warmed enough to do cement work. They did exactly as we requested and did fine work. We will definitely go back to them when we are ready to replace the walk and steps. We have also asked them for an estimate on replacing the culvert under our driveway.

    Lifetime Stones & Construction
Originally I had mixed feelings about doing a review but people are looking for reviews. I will say at first Eddie was charming and said they could do all the work.  He gave me a written estimate and started work very shortly after that.  The sidewalk replacement  for the most part went fine.  They did trample some flowers next to the sidewalk but attempted to repair the situation.  I have found two areas on the sidewalk/steps that are not level and retain water.  Unfortunately one of those areas is on the front stoop that gets icy in the winter.  Also the men did not know how to deal with the concrete area attached to the house and I think they may have concreted over the original material but it does seem to look OK.
The pointing of the foundation cracks was a whole different situation.  The men removed any loose mortar but applied gray mortar between the white cinder blocks.  I called Eddie on this but he did not come out to look at it, instead the foreman told him that this was not right.  Eddie had apparently told them to use whatever they had because I would have to repaint it anyway.  I told Eddie and the foreman that the walls were never painted and that the cinder block was white.  After consulting with his management Eddie told the crew to remove the gray mortar and replace it with white which they did. Eddie told me he had never seen white cinder blocks but the foreman told me he had seen this in homes from the 1970's.
The fix on the brick on the back of my house did not go as expected either.  The men took out too much area and replaced it with brick I had.  Unfortunately they did not have any mortar close to the original and the foreman promised to come back with closely matching mortar which he never did.  This area will have to be redone.
I will say that the crew was extremely nice but that does not make up for the problems.

They were out to give me a proposal within days of my call.  The repairs were made in a timely manner, the workman arrived on time and walked me through what they were going to do.  I was Emailed the proposals for approval prior to the work being started.  The workers were very exacting, did excellent work and cleaned up all the debris and hosed down my patio and yard that was affected by the dust from grinding prior to leaving. .

    Frank Pereira
Price was very reasonable and Mr. Pereira was very pleasant, courteous and professional to work with. His crew were also courteous, they kept dust to a minimum by protecting my front door and cleaned up all work debris. The job was completed in one day! I would highly recommend him for any masonry job and will use him for future jobs. He's great!
