Boarding reviews in North Potomac

  • I love House with a Heart!  The owner, Sher, is an amazing animal advocate.  She takes care of each visiting pup as if they were her own.  All the dogs sleep in her home, some in private rooms, some in groups, depending on the dog's and owner's needs. There are plenty of outdoor places to play and plenty of indoor places to relax.  You will not find a more loving, accepting, caring place to board your dog.

  • They were less expensive than a lot of the other ones. They have a website, and the prices are listed on the website. I was really happy with them, and I don't trust that many people with my pets. I went to them because somebody else recommended them to me, but I am staying with them, because I felt that they did such a good job. They came on time, and they did what they were supposed to do, they stayed for as long as they were supposed to stay.

  • Greeted by friendly staff, and were well informed of the procedure prior to surgery which went well, after surgery we were given instructions on pet care following hospitalization. Overall, I found the experience pleasant, although I am not sure if my dog would agree, she thought she was just going for a sleep over. Nevertheless she's recovered smoothly.

  • House With A Heart (should be called Sher With a HUGE Heart - she is the owner) is more than a boarding facility, it's also a pet sanctuary that provides a permanent home for senior, handicapped, and otherwise unadoptable dogs. In addition, if they have all the animals they can handle, they have a list serve where they send out information to see if people can help out with an adoption of their own.
As for the boarding facility, Sher has a limited number of boarding spaces in her home with much larger rooms/kennels than one typically finds in standard boarding facilities. Her love and kindness to the boarders is so evident, and while leaving our dogs is always difficult for us, we never, ever worry about their well-being. There are always volunteers on hand, and the dogs have outdoor play time throughout the day. While the cost may be a tiny bit higher than other places (not even sure about that), a portion of the boarding fees is tax deductible, as the proceeds go to support her amazing rescue work.
The only difficult part I have leaving this review is that HWAH will become so popular, we may find it more difficult to make a reservation ;-). However, the work Sher does and the kindness she exhibits FAR outweighs my little concern! I can't say enough wonderful things about Sher and House With A Heart, but you won't ever be sorry using this facility.

  • Well worth it -- I won't board my dog anywhere else again!!
Setting up a date/time was easy to do, just a quick phone call.
Stephan was available when we dropped off our dog (Shepherd). Stephan invited us inside, and we chatted for a few minutes while our dog got settled in and acclimated to her new surroundings.
While we were away, we could "check in" on the webcam and saw that our dog was getting more spoiled w/Stephan than she does at home.
It's important to know that included in the fee are dog walks, individual attention and what most boarding establishments call "play time."
When we picked her up, she was glad to see us, but not overly enthusiastic -- she was having fun and didn't want to be interrupted.
We've boarded our dog at other places before - all were highly recommended, all required an extra fee for walks (usually lasting 5-15 minutes), but every time we picked up our dog, she was desperate to get in the car and go home.
If you're looking for a place to board your dog that's a "Home away from home" where she/he will be well cared for, given lots of attention and time, this is the place.

  • Had a good first-time dog grooming experience at Best Friends. When I called for appointment, they asked questions pertaining to health of dog and temperment plus volunteered to call the vet for me to check on the shot requirements that they needed. Found Best Friends to be clean and did not have an odor which I have found at other groomery/boarding places. The staff was very professional and friendly - from person greeting me to dog groomer coming out from back and checking to see what services I would like and preferred, as well as, soothe my pet since she was nervous. I personally like that I was called when the grooming was done and she did not have to stay all day - plus the job was completed in less time than I was told. The cut was very good and my dog seemed happy - not stressed nor drugged (which has happened before at another groomery). I have paid this same amount at another store for express service for the same treatments but prefer this groomer and the way services were managed and my dog seemed to like the experience. I will use them again and hope the service is the same.

  • I love Lisa, but maybe even more important - so does my dog!
Lisa is wonderful with dogs and she is always professional, flexible, dependable, and kind.
She will go out of her way to be helpful in any way, (she recently came over and locked the door when we forgot to lock it before leaving town).
Lisa both walks and boards my dog for me, and I can't recommend her highly enough!

  • Prices are reasonable and staff is very professional and caring.  They offer different levels of service depending on things like how much playtime you want your dog to have and additional services.    Dogs can have individual or group playtime.  Our dog has a motor problem so he had individual time.  They provide food, but our dog is on a special diet so  we provided the food.
If you take your dog there you will know that he is well cared for, and there's the additional benefit in knowing that there are vets available in case of an emergency.
We dealt with Lisa who does the scheduling.  They seem genuinely interested in the animals they care for.  We will definitely go there again.

After looking around and visiting various boarding places, we chose Pet Dominion because of Angie's List recommendation.  We're glad that we did.

  • Very responsive to requests and perform walks as scheduled. Only had one mix-up due to miss-communication in dates where walk was not performed out of many visits. Notes after each visit keep me informed as to how things went. Also appreciate the pick-up and drop-off service that is part of the "cageless" boarding.

  • Our dog was very old and was doing very poorly so we had her euthanized. The price included obtaining the ashes because we wanted them returned to us. We have used them since 2006 and we will use them again if we get another pet. I don't believe they have a large boarding facility, but we liked taking our dog there because she had some medical issues that needed to be watched. The prices have gone up since I started using them, but I think they are in the ballpark.
