Basement Waterproofing reviews in North Potomac

  • Five Stars... BUT... Not only did Basement Innovations come in at the lowest price for the work, but Mike Doolittle was the most professional representative and had the best plan out of the four contractors I got quotes from. Much of the perimeter work we needed was around the edge of an existing bedroom in our basement. The other three contractors' plans included putting the sump in the corner of the bedroom. Mike considered how that would look (and how my wife would feel about that) and suggested that we extend the system slightly so that the sump could be located in the adjacent unfinished space. All at no additional cost. Chris and his team came in to do the work. Chris laid out the plan in detail before they started and it was really reassuring that he was exactly on point with the plan and had some great suggestions on how to make the installation look clean. Team of 5 for one day - they got an incredible amount of work done and they were polite and professional. It's been a few weeks now and we've had some significant rains and the system is running flawlessly. Their pump are 3/4 hp so they pump more quickly and quietly than my previous pump. I'm very happy with the system and very happy that I chose Basement Innovations over the other. If you're looking into this type of project, odds are you aren't doing it for fun. It is a loud, messy job and it can be scary to think of the impact it will have. The guys at Basement Innovations made this process as smooth and painless for me as I could have hoped. Other companies will come in and try to scare you into using them. These guys don't do that. They are legit. >>>Here's the BUT. After the work was done, my newly trained eye spotted a crack in my foundation on the other side of the basement - where I did not have any work done (should have done the whole perimeter...). I called Basement Innovations to see what it would take to have them come and fix this crack, since they had just done so on the other side of the basement. They asked for some pictures, I sent them. Then no response. I called, emailed, called again and nothing. So, that's super annoying.

  • If you are looking for home remodeling and design, look no further than Elite Contracting Services. I do not have enough good things to say about working with Ken and his team. I recently got my basement/man cave finished and it turned out ten times better than I anticipated. Ken was very engaging, straight forward, honest, trustworthy, and enjoyable to work with. He is very experienced and did a phenomenal job of listening to my visions for the design of the basement and turning those visions into reality. Thank you to Ken and Elite Contracting Services for making my experience stress free and enjoyable. What a great group of professionals!

  • He gave an estimate based on where he could see the rotten wood; while working he pointed out one more major area where rotten wood was found and replaced that at additional cost. Lower area rotten wood including bay window and down spout areas were done well also. Couple of other smaller repairs he did without any charge. Two coats of painting was done fully. Doors and shutters , porch and garage doors were painted also. We liked the quality of the work and the price. He is also going to do painting of our master bedroom/bath room and other two areas and I will write another review when he completes that. We are very happy with the work done so far.

  • Scott was A+. Did a home inspection for us, and found that the switch on our sump pump was not working. He also looked at our house wiring. He made a number of reasonable recommendations, none of which involved spending $10K with a water proofing company.

  • Since moving into our home over 3 years ago, our basement periodically took on water during intense rains. We brought in five different companies to provide estimates and interestingly there was almost no overlap in the scope of work of each company's proposal. Proposed "solutions" ranged from jackhammering the perimeter of our entire basement to pump out water that enters (even in areas that were 100% dry) to waterproofing exterior walls. Not satisfied with these solutions, I found Basement Masters on Angie's List and Randall (the owner) came out to review the situation and provide an estimate. Of all the proposals submitted, I found Randall's to be the most sensible. He spent a great deal of time understanding the specific issues at our home and coming up with a proposal targeted at those issues, plus some additional enhancements. This was job was extremely challenging and Randall and his crew, particularly his lead crew member (Walter), knocked this job out of the park. The work was well done and professional and I'm pleased to say that approximately 5 months have passed since the work was completed and we have not seen a drop of water in our basement since!

  • The initial estimate was not consistent with the final scope of the project, which grew as it proceeded, in large part due to an initial misunderstanding of the type of foundation under an addition that replaced what was originally a carport on a concrete pad, and in small part due to some tangentially related follow-up work to a concrete patio that I wanted to have done. The end price seemed fairly good to me -- the owner claimed he was losing money on the project -- but I do not have enough information to evaluate this, so no letter rating on price. The quality of the end result has been very good. No problems for several years. However, I was not impressed by the professionalism of all of the people that I interacted with at The Foundation Expert. Over the course of this project, I encountered a wide range of memorable behavior -- memorable enough that I am writing this review more than four years after the project -- that, in my view, averaged out to fairly professional. I would consider hiring them again.

  • I left a message over the weekend and got a return call on Monday. The appointment was scheduled within a few days of my initial call and it was extremely helpful. Jamie arrived promptly and spent quite a lot of time walking around our property. He carefully examined our yard, adjacent areas, and the grading around our home. We were impressed by his knowledge and professionalism. He pointed out problems outside our house that need to be corrected before having waterproofing done inside. We are in the process of making those changes and will contact All Aspects Waterproofing when we are ready to have the waterproofing work done.

  • In life, generally one thing leads to another . . .  and so
begins this story.  It all started with mold which led to
finding a contractor to fix the water entry before the inside work
could be done.  Several estimates later, enter Dan of Archer
Contractors.  Impressed from the start, I felt he summed up my needs
quickly and accurately.  We signed the contract, waited for good weather
    and then the digging began.

Dan is definitely not afraid of hard work or getting dirty.  He was
present for most of the time, providing professional oversight of the
hand dug excavation, nine feet down. According the crew, it was a
particularly difficult job as the dirt was compacted and dry.  From my
perspective, I was tired even thinking about it.

Dan is easy to work with, flexible and amenable to change.  He politely
listened to my 'non-professional' suggestion, acknowledged that
it was a good idea and gently suggested another option - which
obviously was better than my idea.  We went through 3 different
revisions - gravel, bricks and cement slab - to come up with the
best choice.  Note: If your job includes installation of membrane
(black goop), it is quite stinky.  I suggest you close up your house
    before it is installed.

For those of you considering a job like this, I'd like to share a bit
about the emotional impact of seeing all the dirt and hard work that
went into this project.  Dan tried to prepare me by saying that I would
have a big pile of dirt in my backyard.  Oh yeah, I thought, it would be
big.  The actual dirt pile (aka 'mountain of dirt') was far more
shocking than I expected.  I was stunned to see the real life massive
pile of dirt and despite their apparent fatigue, the willingness of the
men to keep digging until the excavation was done.  The ground was
so hard in some places that they had to use a jack hammer.

Results . . . I have a beautiful back yard now with water flowing in the
right direction.  The best part is that my basement is watertight.
Would I use Archer Contractors again?  Most definitely, but it's
probably not likely as Dan and his crew did a great job of correcting my
water issues.  Although they delivered what was promised and I paid for
the work, I still feel grateful to all those individuals who made it
happen.  Thanks Archer Contractors!  It was a pleasure working with you.

Just a final note, Dan is sometimes a 'bit busy' with juggling many
calls, texts, site visits and monitoring the weather.  If you find
yourself wondering when he's going to get to your job (like me), do be
patient.  He's worth the wait.  The actual work went quickly. Waiting
for the proper day/weather was what took time. He also has a great sense
of humor which is useful when you are stressed, as in my case, about the
mess and the big smelly hole in your backyard.

Final moisture meter testing indicates that the moisture issue in my
    basement is resolved.  Thanks Dan!

  • I purchased a big deal for this service and it was good. I am renting and have been there six years. I gave the recommendations and the quote to the owner, but I do not know if he is going to do anything about it. They confirmed the issues that I already knew existed. The wall in the basement is kind of wet and damp because it leaks when it rains. This company thinks it should be repaired. They were very good, thorough, on time and professional. They took their time in checking everything and explaining everything what he found in terms I could understand. They called several times to check back, but I could not give them the okay because I am not the owner. They were on time.

  • I am renting and have been there six years. I gave the recommendations and the quote to the owner, but I do not know if he is going to do anything about it. When I saw the price I thought it was reasonable and was something I could afford if I did it. Their responsiveness was excellent. They did all the work the same day.
