Jaye was a good communicator before, during, and after the job. I appreciated his professionalism and quality of work. He also did an amazing job cleaning afterwards. He has a great attention to detail and I would definitely hire him again.

From start to finish, the job was flawless. Nancy, the office manager, was very pleasant and got me scheduled for the work within the week. She also confirmed by email the night before that Jaime would be coming the next morning around 8am to do the job. Jaime arrived to do the job, and I couldn't have asked for anyone better. He covered my floor and and was very respectful to take care of everything as he worked. The caulking was seamless and perfect, the patching and painting perfect, and you couldn't ever tell a few tiles had to be redone, as they blended in perfectly. He even gave me some great advice about an issue I was having with the jets in the tub in my master bathroom. I initially used Rent-A-Pro because they always have great reviews, and after seeing their work, I can see it's because they have guys working for them like Jaime who you can tell have been doing this work for years. I used them over a year ago, and the work was the same quality with another one of their guys. I also referred Rent-A-Pro to several of my friends who have had the same experience with them. Thank you Rent-A-Pro.

Hank and his crew were FABULOUS! Handy Hank himself came out to work the estimate and talk through the job with us. Communication from start to finish was timely and often proactive on Hank's part--something we were particularly pleased by. As first-time renovators, we weren't clear on what needed to be done versus should be done versus really shouldn't be tackled. Hank was patient, kind, and clear about everything. He suggested improvements we wouldn't have thought to make, and steered us away from poor decisions (even though it would have meant more money for him). There were even extra touches thrown in along the way, like an accent line of tile in the bathroom, that reflect the pride and care Hank's team take in their work. When we had questions or concerns, Hank was always ready to explain his thinking or to change their plan of attack to accommodate our ideas. We even sprung an extra bathroom remodel on him halfway through the process and he didn't bat an eye, just got it all worked in. Since the completion of the work, Hank has continued to be communicative and when occasional problems or questions have arisen he continues to be right on it every time. I simply cannot recommend Hank highly enough, and we'll be returning to him for all our future needs!

DHC Repairs and Remodeling (Dan Himmelfarb Co.)
DHC was responsive to my initial inquiry when other companies were not interested in a small job.  The workers showed up as scheduled, were courteous, and did good quality work. The price was a bit higher than I hoped to pay.  But again, other companies were not interested in this small job.  I would use DHC again.

The Rentapro crew of Ted and Trionio arrived at my house the day and time that we agreed upon. They were incredibly friendly and went right to work. They took a great deal of pride in their work, and carefully covered anything of value to make sure that it didn't get damaged. Ted kept me informed every step of the way about what they were doing. The work performed was way above average, and it was obvious that both guys have been doing their jobs for a long time. They needed a few extra supplies after I decided to add another small job. Ted told me to save money, that I could go to Home Depot and pick the items up if I wanted to. I appreciated that and went and picked the supplies up while they continued working. To make a long story short, the work they did turned out even better than what I expected. As important to me as the quality of work, however, was something that Ted did that I have never had a contractor ever do who worked at our home. He told me at the end that he had about $35 in supplies that he didn't use that he was removing from my bill. That showed me the integrity of Ted and his company, and is a quality very hard to find these days. I have referred Rentapro to several of my neighbors and will continue to use them for any jobs I need, whether big or small!!

    Handyman Matters Of Frederick

    1) The person came out and estimated two jobs: one small (job #1), and one larger. Friendly, professional, on time as scheduled. Answered all questions I had at the time and did not make me feel bad for asking. I paid $40 service fee (standard) and $80 for estimate ? the $80 can be applied to the upcoming job.

    2) Job #1 (door replacement) required purchase of new door.  After the estimate, I followed up with the Handyman Matters (HM) Office regarding the new door per their instructions. I stated preferred style, color, material, etc. after research and discussion. HM offered to use my credit card and buy direct on my behalf (since they had CC# on file from $120 payment above) so as to avoid 30% markup they said was required if they purchase the item on their own behalf with their account.  They said this was standard policy for their business. I had never heard of this practice. They gave me an estimate of what the item would cost ($170) and I approved.

    3) The date of job #1 had to be rescheduled due to some personal matters that the scheduled handyman had to take care of. HM office was very apologetic. They rescheduled to a date that would work for us.

    4) However in the morning when the rescheduled job was to begin, received call from HM Office asking for more information regarding the door to be purchased.  I politely stated that I had already given this.  They acknowledged this and apologized for not having kept the earlier information on file and for not having passed it along to the scheduled handyman.

    5) Handyman arrived late on the rescheduled date for job #1. This was because of issue above and the fact that the new door was not available at the Home Depot where they usually get items from and they had to go to another store.  Presented me with bill for purchased new door; item cost was just slightly over the estimated cost from earlier discussion ($20).

    6) Job estimated to take 3 hours; it took 4.5 hours.  Some additional work and parts were needed after the old door was removed; as far as I can tell, these were necessary ? just not originally estimated. Since I was present, I asked about extended length of time, and I?m unsure if I was going to be notified had I not done so. The bill charged for 5.5 hours as the pickup time for the new door was also included. I didn?t know that ahead of time. Also I thought the door and old parts would be hauled away, but they were then left per my instruction once I learned there would have been an $80 dump fee plus other fees (mileage maybe) that I didn?t know of. Paid the remainder of bill; used Angie?s List coupon.

    7) New door is better, but I need to do some follow-up caulking, and the installed pan juts out a bit.

    New Dawn Electric

My first contact with New Dawn Electric was talking to Allan's wife who scheduled the appointment.  She has fantastic customer service skills!  I told we recently moved to the area and after a few minutes she gave me the names and numbers to a plumber and handy man.  She believes in her husband's work and ensured me that he could handle the foyer light (based on the height) with no problems and the other repairs.  We had to re-schedule twice bc of the horrible weather in Maryland but each time New Dawn called and re-schedule with the next available appointment.  I'm glad I waited!  Allan is professional and personable.  He was unable to install the shower light bc I had bought the wrong unit, but he told me exactly where I could go to get the proper unit and how easy it would be to install.  He worked quickly buy carefully.  We had our foyer recently painted to include the ceiling.  He left no marks on the ceiling or walls.  As for getting the biggest ladder I have ever seen into our foyer, he did it without hitting anything!  I am very pleased with New Dawn Electric.  I will use New Dawn Electric again!

    Herron Home Improvement
The job was done on schedule and in accordance with the estimate.  Mr. Herron returns phone calls promptly and was reliable in showing up and providing the estimate on schedule.  The two individuals who did the work were professional, careful and courteous.  We had the bedroom painted with walls one color and white ceiling and trim.  The painting was perfect.  They repaired dings in the drywall and where pictures had hung.  They replaced our old brown baseboards with new wood and painted it white.  They did a beautiful job.  The only problem we had (and it was our fault, not theirs) was with painting the closet.  The estimate did not include it and we did not notice until the work was almost completed.  We asked them to include it and they did with no problem.  Be clear on what you want done and make sure the estimate matches what you want and is specific.  We were so happy with the work that we have contracted with Mr. Herron to do more work in our home.
