Hank and his crew were FABULOUS! Handy Hank himself came out to work the estimate and talk through the job with us. Communication from start to finish was timely and often proactive on Hank's part--something we were particularly pleased by. As first-time renovators, we weren't clear on what needed to be done versus should be done versus really shouldn't be tackled. Hank was patient, kind, and clear about everything. He suggested improvements we wouldn't have thought to make, and steered us away from poor decisions (even though it would have meant more money for him). There were even extra touches thrown in along the way, like an accent line of tile in the bathroom, that reflect the pride and care Hank's team take in their work. When we had questions or concerns, Hank was always ready to explain his thinking or to change their plan of attack to accommodate our ideas. We even sprung an extra bathroom remodel on him halfway through the process and he didn't bat an eye, just got it all worked in. Since the completion of the work, Hank has continued to be communicative and when occasional problems or questions have arisen he continues to be right on it every time. I simply cannot recommend Hank highly enough, and we'll be returning to him for all our future needs!

    Doorman of Frederick

One of the tracks was misaligned  and bent. This caused the rollers to fall out and the door to hang halfway down when it was open. We had to removed the door in fear of it falling down.

Gary came in and fixed the bent track and reinstalled the door. He also replaced some of the pulleys which were causing the door not to close properly. Gary also installed safety wires to ensure that if the springs broke, they would not hurt anyone.

    Wheaton Door & Window Company

We interviewed about 8 different providers.  Mr. Bill Brown of Wheaton was the first to arrive; however another vendor arrived late and took over Wheaton's time spot.  We rescheduled with Wheaton although we had found a couple more dealers that we liked, but we rescheduled simply because we felt bad for how the first dealer had treated Wheaton.  It was rude and Wheaton was polite.  No one else offered window frames made from PVC and we liked the stability of the PVC frames.  Wheaton's representative, Bill Brown, then offered suggestions on how to save money since we had so much we were purchasing and helped me to get a front door that I really wanted.  He offered to bring by color swatches when I wanted even though we were out of his way.  We were very happy with the cost.  He later surprised me with extra trim for our back door even though I decided to skip it because of unnecessary cost.

We had four different teams working in our house.  Doors, windows, carpet, vinyl.  They also had to work around our kitchen remodelers.  They worked with us to meet our schedule which was extremely important to us and were willing spread the work out over time so we could get certain projects done before other projects.

The financing was willing to work with me so that I could get points on my credit card toward a Disney vacation.

Throughout the entire process, Larry Nimetz, who calls himself Batman would call to make sure our project was running smoothly and that I was happy!  I would really like to have Bill Brown see the finished project.  He even gave me some ideas that he thought would be neat in a kitchen and I used them.  This project is taking over a year, but we gutted the entire downstairs.  A fantastic experience!

    Handyman Matters Of Frederick

    1) The person came out and estimated two jobs: one small (job #1), and one larger. Friendly, professional, on time as scheduled. Answered all questions I had at the time and did not make me feel bad for asking. I paid $40 service fee (standard) and $80 for estimate ? the $80 can be applied to the upcoming job.

    2) Job #1 (door replacement) required purchase of new door.  After the estimate, I followed up with the Handyman Matters (HM) Office regarding the new door per their instructions. I stated preferred style, color, material, etc. after research and discussion. HM offered to use my credit card and buy direct on my behalf (since they had CC# on file from $120 payment above) so as to avoid 30% markup they said was required if they purchase the item on their own behalf with their account.  They said this was standard policy for their business. I had never heard of this practice. They gave me an estimate of what the item would cost ($170) and I approved.

    3) The date of job #1 had to be rescheduled due to some personal matters that the scheduled handyman had to take care of. HM office was very apologetic. They rescheduled to a date that would work for us.

    4) However in the morning when the rescheduled job was to begin, received call from HM Office asking for more information regarding the door to be purchased.  I politely stated that I had already given this.  They acknowledged this and apologized for not having kept the earlier information on file and for not having passed it along to the scheduled handyman.

    5) Handyman arrived late on the rescheduled date for job #1. This was because of issue above and the fact that the new door was not available at the Home Depot where they usually get items from and they had to go to another store.  Presented me with bill for purchased new door; item cost was just slightly over the estimated cost from earlier discussion ($20).

    6) Job estimated to take 3 hours; it took 4.5 hours.  Some additional work and parts were needed after the old door was removed; as far as I can tell, these were necessary ? just not originally estimated. Since I was present, I asked about extended length of time, and I?m unsure if I was going to be notified had I not done so. The bill charged for 5.5 hours as the pickup time for the new door was also included. I didn?t know that ahead of time. Also I thought the door and old parts would be hauled away, but they were then left per my instruction once I learned there would have been an $80 dump fee plus other fees (mileage maybe) that I didn?t know of. Paid the remainder of bill; used Angie?s List coupon.

    7) New door is better, but I need to do some follow-up caulking, and the installed pan juts out a bit.

    Handyman Matters Of Frederick
I was so impressed with the work and service I received with my FIRST experience with Handyman Matters of Frederick, I scheduled an additional job. This time I was not present during the work being performed but was WOWED when I got home to see the excellent results!  Each task on the "punch-out" list was executed perfectly!  I'm so happy to know I can trust a company to actually deliver as promised.  My contractor Keith is a skilled craftsman who has demonstrated he can handle any request!  Mary is absolutely a pleasure to speak with on the phone and can answer all your questions.  I congratulate Ed Salmon on his high standards and companies excellence. I have and will, recommend Handyman Matters to friends and family
