    While coming into work, my check engine light came on and my car started to shake. I pulled into the nearest mechanic (A&G Automotive). Gordon was able to fix the issue in a short amount of time and charged a reasonable rate!

    FOUR COUNTY IMPORT SVC
    I dropped off my car after hours, was contacted the next morning, and picked up my fixed car by the end of the day (again, after hours). I appreciated the flexibility of after hours drop off/pick up and the quick turn around.
    The person I spoke with on the phone was informative and knowledgeable and did not try to sell me services or parts that I did not need. 
    The price was much lower than I expected and I was even told that the previous mechanic I used had installed the wrong spark plugs, but Four County Import could fix it. 
    Fast, efficient, and not unreasonably priced- everything I was looking for in an auto repair shop. Thanks

    They were able to confirm unusual engine noise but unable to determine cause.As the vehicle was still under warranty I had local Chevrolet dealer investigate and repair. The cause of the engine noise was found to be internal to the engine causing engine to be removed from vehicle and disassembled to correct a faulty camshaft.

    I took my vehicle to Green Valley Garage recommended by Angie���s list. After waiting 15 minutes for staff to recognize my presence, and ask if I could be helped? (nope, I just hang out in garage offices for grins and giggles) I explained I recently starting having trouble with my vehicle, described the trouble, and was told it needed a diagnostic to determine the trouble, after giving my blessings for the diagnostic test I said ���I don���t know if it matters but I am a member of Angie���s List���, to which the customer service man said, ���so are we���.

    I waited in the very small office/business area (I���ve been in port-a-john���s bigger) watched my vehicle drive away and back, then I waited for over two hours, before a man from the shop came in waving a dip-stick around (looking at me like I had committed the crime of the century!) and said ���what DON���T you see on there?��� holding it towards the customer service guy? (umm $100.00 bills?) I knew I was due for an oil change, but newer vehicle���s don���t ���eat oil��� do they?

    Another hour goes ���s l o w l y��� by, I listen to every conversation from ���Aardvark���s to Walleyed Bass��� which is why (my hypothesis) someone would hang out in a garage without needing help, before I received a prognosis, I was not prepared for the prognosis, $1,689.74 for a tune-up and thermostat!

    While I was still reeling from the $1,700.00 blow to the head, and wallet, the prognosis was quickly followed by ���don���t bring it on Monday cuz (forgive me, I can���t recall name���s? it may have been the blow to the head? or wallet?) dip-stick guy has Monday���s off���

    For someone on a fixed income (I���m sure many of you can relate) it was devastating! below the belt! (no pun intended) it���s why we join programs like ���Angie���s List��� we���re hoping for ���honest, trustworthy, businesses��� businesses that we are proud to recommend.

    How much joy do you get to tell someone ���I got the best deal the other day!��� not only was it a good deal but ���ole��� honest George��� made a discovery that saved me a lot of money, even though he could have done the work others had said their diagnostic showed was the trouble, then charged me more for the real problem he took his time ���old school��� cross referencing, just to be sure, he explained what looked like trouble on the surface was really a diversion from the problem, remember that old cherry tree in the back? been around since my Grandfather���s Father, George told me that the root of the trouble stemmed from the cherry tree, which in turn caused problems to the surrounding areas and he cut it down! and he said he did! showed me a hidden fungus that had grown inside, and if left go could have ruined all my fruit trees! also showed me how to start a sapling off of a piece of bark! him taking his time to check things that others only trusted to diagnostics saved me money in the long run, yup ���ole��� George went the extra mile��� that���s a good business! they really know their stuff, and stand behind their word they do! ya just don���t find businesses like that anymore, from here out, they���ll have all my business.

    Isn���t this what we are looking for? why we all joined?

    On a recommendation from a friend I took my vehicle to a garage that had been recommended to them, I was asked to bring the diagnosis from Green Valley, what did I have to lose at this point, (my retirement? Taxes will get that, my SSI? Government took it already) a guy called me (from the word-of-mouth garage) explained they had gotten the same results at an idle, but the road-test gave different findings, so he took a little time, did some ���old school��� cross referencing, just to be sure, and explained the trouble was not all the surrounding area, but stemmed from one part, and saved me $1,278.50!

    So I say,

    ���I got the best deal the other day in Mt. Airy, MD!��� not only was it a good deal but ���ole��� honest Spike��� saved me some money, he could have done the work others had said their diagnostic showed was the trouble, then charged me more for the real problem, but he took his time ���old school��� cross referencing, just to be sure, what looked like a lot of trouble on the surface was really a diversion from one fouled part, yup, they go the extra mile��� a good business! they really know their stuff, and stand behind their word they do! ya just don���t find businesses like that anymore, from here on out they���ll have all my business.

    I hope you all find your good businesses, which not only save you money, but stand ���ON��� and behind their ���word!���

    The brake pads had previously been replaced by another service establishment. Ed explained that they had used the cheapest possible pads that had irregular particles of metal in them which was causing the grinding noise. The lug nut had also been cross threaded by them. I had asked York to replace the seat belt that was frayed but Ed had contacted Honda and found out that there was a lifetime warranty on their seat belts and it could be replaced free if I took the car to Honda and the damage was due to general wear and tear (which it was) this was a considerable saving of money.
    I was extremely impressed with the honesty and detailed information about the work performed that was given by Ed York the owner and the courteousness and responsiveness of everyone at York . Work was performed as requested in a timely manner and at a very reasonable price. I will continue to use York Automotive to service my cars.

    They were great!  They were backed up, so treated me to lunch near by since the wait was longer than anticipated.  They covered for the other dealership ( which they are now part of ), and gave me a discount on the work.

    A Toyota dealer estimated the job would cost $275.00 more than York charged. They had the car ready within a couple of hours and it wasn't necessary to have the front end alligned (as Toyota had advised). The car runs great, the job was done correctly and at a location far closer than the Toyota dealer. Great job! Future repairs will go to York.

    Service was completed the same day the vehicle was delivered. Service was excellent. It's been several weeks and I have no complaints. We have had our vehicles repaired and serviced there several times. The mechanics are all school trained. We have not had to take one back for anything. We will continue to use them for our vehicle services. Prices are competitive and they have always been fair and honest.

    On The Spot Detailing
    there was a glitch - a miscommuncation between the main office & work crew. I called when they were a half hour late. they showed up nearly 2 hours late. i was off work, so that wasn't a big problem.

    they worked several hours in nasty cold,wet weather. I was thrilled with the way the car looked. i don't recall it gleaming that much when we first drove it home. in spite of miscommunication on the appointment time, i will use them again.

    They do a nice job of giving you written reports of what they recommend after they service your vehicle. You feel like you always understand what is going on when you go in there.  When they fix something or do maintenance on my vehicles, it is always done well and I don't ever have any follow up issues. The only complaint that I have with this service provider is a business relationship that they have with an oil and additive company, BG, and they are recommending these products and services. When I checked with Toyota they said that they do not endorse these products and that if you follow the Toyota recommendations and services then the car would not need these extra products to maintain it's performance.
