Great - really good group of pet loving staff. I have used them for over ten years and they have cared for my pets like they were their own. Very responsive and reliable. Highly recommend!

    Vanessa's Grooming and Petcare
I can't express how happy I am with Vanessa. She came out of her way to meet me after work to save my terribly matted cat. She did an awesome job!! I felt so bad because he did scratch her. I am sure most groomers would have stopped right there but she did an amazing job and she will be going mobile soon!

    Shroeder Shearing
I’ve used Shroeder Shearing at least 2-3 times a year for the past 8 years. Twice a year she shears my goats and then a couple times a year she’ll stop by to trim their hooves. She always does a great job. Could I trim the hooves myself? Sure. But I value having an experienced shearer looking at my animals and offering advice or support. I’ve learned a lot from Anne over the years. She always puts the welfare of the animals first. Highly recommend her. I have a couple animals that are pretty unruly. She never lets it faze her.

    Horners Corner Pet Salon
Several years ago, one of our neighbors who owned a labradoodle, mentioned that she had used Kelli Horner for years, and was delighted with her service and expertise. Not long after this recommendation, the groomer we were using became ill and would be out for a number of months, providing an opportune time for us to make an appointment with Kelli. On grooming day, I arrived at the shop slightly after 8:00 am with Cleo and some sample pictures showing what we were looking for (there is no standard grooming protocol for labradoodles). Kelli looked at the pictures closely, asked many detailed questions, and made notes on her client card. Needless to say, I was impressed with her desire to provide the grooming we were looking for. When Cleo was picked up a few hours later, she looked beautiful, and had clearly enjoyed her stay. (Well-behaved dogs are allowed to socialize). At this point, our labradoodle has had 23 groomings with Kelli, at 9 to 12-week intervals (starting 5/14/15). Kelli is an unusual groomer in that she keeps detailed notes on her clients, allowing her to produce consistent and exceptional groomings each time Horner’s Corner moved in 2018 to her current location at 370 Maple Avenue West, Suite #3, Vienna VA 22180, (across the street from Amphora); there is plenty of parking in the back of the building complex). We are so grateful that a labradoodle-owning neighbor recommended Kelli, and we have been so delighted, we recommend her whenever possible. Thanks Kelli!

Make sure you get a full price quote for any grooming or housing services so there are no surprises, but my dogs were so happy on their staycation and they came back so beautifully groomed.

The Pet Spa at Barkley Square
I was a regular customer of Barkley Square for several years. Then I starting taking my dog to a groomer that was much closer (blocks instead of miles) and less expensive (about 2/3 the cost). I noticed that the grooming wasn't as thorough and figured it was a fair trade off for convenience and savings. It wasn't until my Vet noticed that several of the promised services weren't being performed that I decided to start going back. Ultimately, my dog is healthier and I'm happier.

    COMPANION ANIMAL CLINIC
I had been to Companion once before to have my 18-year-old cat, Babe, groomed. It is difficult to find a groomer who will accept cats, keep cats separate from dogs, and accept rabies and distemper waivers. Due to his liver condition, Babe has a rabies exemption from the VA Dept of Health and a distemper waiver from his Vet. The groomer we had been seeing could no longer accept waivers due to changes in their insurance policy at the beginning of the year. Companion came through for us in all areas: accepted both waivers, kept Babe in the cat boarding area away from dogs, and did a great job grooming him. Recently, we had an emergency which turned out to be a seizure. He had been doing just fine that morning, had eaten, was in an active mood, I was petting him as he sat on a chair when he suddenly was wide-eyed, pupils dilated and just fell over, shallow breathing, not moving, staring. He did not respond. That was when I called the Vet we had been seeing since Babe moved from my mother's in Baltimore in October 2017 to live with me. The Vet is only 5 minutes from my house. They would not be able to see him for another 3 hours or more. I decided to call Companion Animal Clinic since we had been there once before. I was told to bring Babe right in. They are only a 12-minute drive from my house. As I walked through the door one of the women at the front desk got up immediately, came around the desk asking if this was Babe, and then took him back to a tech for some initial tests. After a short time, the tech came out to ask questions about Babe's activities that morning and to get additional info on his history. Not too much longer after that I was taken to one of the exam rooms and met with Dr. McGrath. She said they were running full blood tests, asked me a series of questions, and then said Babe most likely had a seizure. Dr. McGrath said a seizure would generally be due to some other underlying cause like liver, heart or kidney problems. His liver results came back greatly improved over the March reading (they had gotten Babe files from his previous Vet while I was there). Although he has a heart murmur results from his cardio and lung x-rays a few months earlier were all good. Dr. McGrath said sometimes this is a one-time occurrence with a pet, so we hope this won't happen again, but if it does to bring him back immediately. She recommended an MRI but that requires putting the pet to sleep. Babe can't be anesthetized due to his liver condition. The blood tests also showed Babe is slightly anemic (I was told not unusual for older cats), and has low potassium so a med was prescribed for that. Dr. McGrath called the compounding pharmacy we use near Baltimore to request his Potassium med be put in capsule form (our preferred form of meds for Babe) rather than a gel. Dr. McGrath also gave us ear drops for a slight ear infection. A tech cleaned his ears and then applied the first dose to show me how. In just two hours Babe had been given a very thorough exam. It was later that day after getting Babe home I realized just how much had been accomplished during our visit. What is really nice about Companion, in addition to being very responsive during an emergency, is that it is a one-stop clinic. They provide a wide range of veterinary services, offer boarding and grooming, and have an on-site laboratory so you get lab results within 30 minutes rather than having to wait 1-3 days for results to be sent to a lab and returned to the Vet. So, Companion Animal Clinic is now Babe's Vet.

    COLUMBIA PIKE ANIMAL HOSPITAL
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLINIC. I only continued to go because I am partially disabled and couldn't deal with starting all over with a new clinic. My kitty was elderly and just passed two weeks ago. I don't blame the clinic for his passing but dealing with these baboons was horrible. Example: my cat had several bad teeth that needed to be removed. I took him in for an examine, waited in the parking lot (Covid) and when the doctor brought him out I asked how many teeth needed to be removed, he said (wait for it) "I didn't look in his mouth, he may bite me" and I was handed a bill for $300.00 for the visit, vitamin and antibiotic shots. This is only one example, I could go on. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
