  • Mark came out as scheduled we talked over several options. A couple of days later I had a est. and start dates. The crew showed on time and completed the job on time. Mark is great he really knows his business. The crew was very hard working, and professional. At the end of each day they cleaned up the site. East Coast Landscape Design has a great team . try them

  • I contacted Mark's Lawn and Landscape in late March 2018 about installing a paver foundation ( 12 by 16) for a shed. I made an appointment for early morning and Mark was right on time traveling from Halethorpe to Laurel. Note that the four other firms I called said that for such a small job there was no need for a site inspection prior to the work starting. Mark quickly gave me an estimate and a time frame for when he could complete the work. For the rest of the day my thought was that maybe I could find a contractor who might do the work for somewhat less money. About three days later Mark's proposal came and the cost to do the work was exactly what he quoted and I knew then that I would give him the job. When Mark and his crew came to do the work he recommended a different location for the foundation than mine and I was pleased after taking his recommendation. Mark's crew did an excellent job installing a perfectly level foundation in a day's time and grading the area around the foundation. I asked Mark to inspect the job after completion and he said he would certainly do this. Yes, this was a small job but I was so pleased with Mark's attentiveness to my needs and requests.

  • Very pleased; they did a great job and exactly as I wanted it. Eusebio was very responsive and flexible, giving options to help keep the price within my range. The work was done in 3 consecutive days, and they cleaned up really well when they finished. They also took care of a small side job without any problem.

  • This is a follow-up to my review of 09/28/2017 that rated DCI Landscaping an "F" for communications. Mr. Clark did get back to us & let us know that he had sufficient work in his home area & traveling back down to Laurel was a bit much. That I understood. We delayed our hardscaping project to this year with another contractor. In the development of our new plans, I could not find the paperwork from the original project, so I emailed Mr. Clark to get make & color details for some of the pavers. He responded within a reasonable period of time. I eventually emailed him twice more & he promptly responded with the requested information. So this time, he gets an "A" for communications. This also represents the effectiveness of Angie's List to rate, review & get the attention of contractors.

  • I hired South River Landscapes to do a pretty major project on the backyard of our single family home in Laurel. The scope of work included erosion control, drainage via French drains/piping, and landscaping to bring everything together. Leo promised 5-10 days to completion, with another 5 days built in in case of rain (which was fortunate, since we did end up having six days of rain in a row shortly after the project began). I have pictures, emails, and text messages to back up everything I am about to write. The project started off really good- Leo was on-time for the estimate and the first day of work involved having a huge earth mover in my backyard tearing through tree roots. After that though, things started going downhill. Over the course of the next SIX WEEKS the work was either performed incorrectly or performed indeterminately. At least twice Leo texted me to promise that his "guys" were coming over this weekend and the work would be done. Both weekends the weather was great and nothing occurred. On a third weekend a "guy" came over for about an hour. Also, Leo sub-contracted out the retaining wall that was part of my erosion control, so instead of working during the day we and the neighbors were not home, the sub-contractors did not start arriving until 6pm and hastily worked until dark. For reference, the retaining wall had to be built/re-built/changed three times. When my husband was forced to dig up part of the fill dirt in order to put a barrier up between our new, higher-level yard and the fence so that any run-off would not seep into our neighbor's yard (yes we had to think of this- Leo did not think of this and the last thing we wanted was neighbors yelling at us) we discovered that instead of cleaning up/throwing away things before installing the fill dirt, Leo and his crew simply BURIED MY ROSEBUSH along with a metal tomato pole and some wood remnants (see pictures). Lastly, upon completion of the project Leo and his team left a mess in my backyard. There are concrete rocks in my new sod, broken PVC piping in my mulch, spare gloves just thrown around, and get this- his yard guys actually SEEDED a large rock of clay mud and guess what? It is growing grass! Wow, now I have a large rock of clay growing grass in my yard. :( I say he "completed" the project because technically he did meet all of the criteria set forth in the scope of work. However, he did a pretty shoddy job of it (ex: see the picture of what the ground looked like when we pulled back the sod a few days ago- does that look like drainage to you? nope- it looks like resting water under sod). Not to mention I found out five weeks into the project that he is not even licensed and certified to do ANY landscape design work in the state of Maryland! No wonder it is a total mess and my husband and I are estimating we will have to spend $500-1000 to fix what Leo either hastily did or did not do to our satisfaction. Save yourself a lot of stress, and do not hire Leo. While his crew may be pretty decent at installing basic landscaping, it is just really not worth the hassle and headache of putting up with a 19 year old who does not have a foreman at the job site, does not often come to the job site himself, and will often push your project aside in favor of mowing someone's grass.

  • Mark's office responded to my Sunday email the same day and promptly scheduled an appointment. Mark came out to look at the layout of the backyard and the way water flows through the yard. We discussed solutions for the problem area around the back sliding door and the heat pump unit. I felt that Mark gave the project a lot of consideration and came up with a solution that not only took care of the water drainage problem but was also enhanced the look of the yard.
  • Avalos Stonework and Landscaping did an outstanding job and I plan to use their landscaping and stonework services again. They explained everything ahead of time and provided a detailed estimate for their work. The team was incredibly prompt and professional, they did a thorough job, and cleaned up every trace of the trees and vines that they removed. Their rates are quite reasonable. I give them the highest possible recommendation.

  • I am so glad that I did. The owner, Nelson Morales, is wonderful and accommodating as well as honest. He and his helpers showed up when they said they would and worked efficiently and competently. The project was delayed several days by rain, but they came back and finished up without missing a beat. I would strongly recommend him for hardscaping as well as general landscaping work..

  • Excellent, Mike is extremely knowledgeable, helped us come up with great ideas, and educated us along the whole process. And needless to say the project was completed when we were told it would be, which is awesome!

  • Unfortunately we could not go with this company because of our HOA, and outside our budget we  set aside for this project. However if it was approved by HOA and within our budget I would definitely use First Impression Hardscapes. Thank you Dustin
