Chimney Cap Repair reviews in Kensington

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • What was discovered was that the chimney had been damaged by the earthquake that had hit our area a few years ago, and due to the age of the home, this resulted in the large crack down the center of the chimney.   Second, the cap of the chimney had much damage which they showed to us with a number of photographs that were taken at the assessment and shown to us on the spot.   The entire cap needed to be fixed and reinforced.  Last, when they did an scope up the center of the chimney was that the lining needed to be replaced, which is the most important piece to protect the home from carbon monoxide poising.   We agreed with there assessment and proceeded with scheduling the work.  The repairs took 2 days to complete and we were very pleased with the work that they had completed and how they cared for our home and how they cleaned up after themselves.   They replaced the cap and reinforced the mortar.  They removed a number of bricks and replaced, re-pointed and fixed the crack and then relined the chimney.  The job itself was more than we wanted to spend, but due to the extend of the damage to the chimney, we thought the price was fair.  We had received 2 other estimates that were higher than what Priddy Clean quoted us.

  • Tom was very polite and professional. They were able to meet me on short notice and spent 45 minutes inspecting the chimney, to include climbing on the roof and taking pictures. He explained the details of why the defects are important and showed me the faulty bricks within the chimney. Although the cost was higher than expected, I had not had the chimney cleaned in about 2 years, and the house was old. The work was scheduled very quickly and completed that day, which was valuable to me just to get it done and not worry about it. Tom and his assistant moved the furniture out of the way, kept the area free of dust with covers, and was very respectful and kind to my 2 large dogs.

  • I called Chimney Masters on a Tuesday and they made an appointment for that Thursday.  They were responsive on the phone and prompt in their arrival.
Upon inspection of our chimney, they determined it didn't need to be cleaned.  They did recommend two chimney caps for our home and offered a good price for them.  The crew showed us how to work the chimney (new home to us with a rather old and funky chimney setup) and made some recommendations on how to get a good, safe fire going.
They did not charge me for the chimney cleaning even though I had requested it.  I thought it was nice that they didn't clean it anyway just to make the money -- it's not like I would have ever known if it needed cleaning or not.
    I would definitely recommend them.

  • they arrived at appointed time, were very polite.
The head of the crew explained what they would do and showed me when a problem was found.
It's hard to inspect this type of work and so I was shown a picture.
Everything seemed in order and I have had no problems with either flue.

  • The cleaning process was thorough and did not cause a mess in our living room as a vacuum was used while the brush was inserted.  Jim did an excellent job answering all of our questions. We followed his recommendation and burned a "Creasote Sweeping Log" (CSL) to combat/remove further glazing in the fireplace flue.  The inspection did not turn up anything that was a cause for concern :).
At my request, Jim also inspected the chimney crown (top) to ensure this part had not been damaged by all of the recent storms.
Thank you for a job very well done!  We will definitely call Jim again when it is time
    for another cleaning/inspection.

  • They visited twice. first to inspect a chimney and fireplace that I hadn't used since I moved in to the house over 12 years ago because I thought it was unsafe.  They found water damage in the chimney and cracked smoke chamber.  They recommended a new chimney crown, damper and lining the chimney.  The outside work was done on the initial visit.  The lining and repair to bricks inside the fireplace and chimney were done on the second visit.  I haven't used the chimney yet because I'm supposed to wait 30 days after they relined the chimney.  The service was very friendly.  The business owner and his brother did the work themselves.  They explained the warranties and were very careful to make sure everything was clean when they left.  They were very prompt and accommodating and arrived early when I had to leave for a business meeting.  Prior to the repair work, I'd noticed musty odors in the house.  I've noticed the air in the house is a lot fresher since they completed the job.  I'm looking forward to using the chimney for the first time a few weeks from now.

  • He was a nice guy.   It cost $150 to clean two chimneys that were filthy and nasty. There were dead things and everything else in there.  He showed up and he was concerned.  He knew chimneys way too well and he was very conscientious and respectful.  He did a follow-up without me having to be there; that was really nice.  He went in and out and he didn’t leave any traces behind.  The price was far cheaper than I could get where I am now.

  • the fireplaces were cleaned very well and very quickly (the basement fireplace was VERY full).  we received an estimate for other work that needed to be done (see above) and everything was written clearly and concisely, with a specific dollar estimate.  then, they sat down with us and explained every step of the repairs that were needed and why they were needed and how it would fix our issues, including smoke from one fireplace blowing into the basement.
when they came back, they were prompt and so efficient.  they completed the work quickly and cleaned up everything after themselves.  i would definitely use them again!!
