  • They are great vets. You can walk in on certain hours. I have been going to them for 25 years or longer. It has never been cheap nor expensive but for what they do it has been reasonable. The one thing about them is if there is something they cant afford you can talk to them and they will work with you.  I like that they have hours convenient to everybody. If you work and have to get your pet in they will work you in. They are good about seeing your pets and do not charge like emergency hours.

  • This is the worst Veterinarian in the world. If you want to spend way too much money, get unnecessary tests and treatments, and then be made to feel bad about being a pet owner every visit, go here.

They constantly recommended more and more treatments and tests, including prescription foods to supposedly help one of my dogs lose weight.  I already use Blue Buffalo weight control food so I'm not using Ole Roy or some other cheap junk.  Their estimate on what he should weigh though was at least 10 lbs lower than any other vet, and not realistic unless he got down to a bone bag.  My new vet (Animal Care Center) in Joppa is farther away, but I went in and asked for what my dog should weigh, and they matched what my old veterinarian in another state had always said, and that was only 1-2 lbs lower than his current weight, not 12 lbs lower.  In a 30 lb dog that is a HUGE difference.)

When one of my dogs got an aggressive cancer they gave me a hard time about not wanting to do all kinds of treatments and tests.  She was a 12 year old Shepherd mix.  Their estimate was that the surgery was going to cost $3K to $5K and maybe more.  They flat out said she probably wouldn't survive the surgery, and if she did she may only live another year after.  During the first 6 months she'd have to be in a cage almost constantly to try to immobilize here since they were cracking her chest open.  She had never spent a day in a cage in her life so that would have been torture. I opted to have her put down to stop her suffering, and the people all just kept acting like I was being a cheapskate.  I had already spent almost $2K on the tests and lab work so far.   I would have spent the money if she would have had a full recovery and happy life.  I wasn't going to torture her to keep her around for maybe one more year.  That would have been the selfish option.

With our cats they were just as bad.  They wanted our male cat on prescription weight control  food.  All vets before or since say he could stand to lose a lb or two but he's a fixed male cat and because of the types he is, he'll be stockier.  Our other cat started to lose weight slowly for no apparent reason even though she eats like a horse.  They checked her out and wanted to do some extra diabetes testing and put her on insulin.  I don't know what they couldn't find out about on their already over priced blood work.  Our new vet immediately said she had a slight thyroid issue after her first standard blood work.  She's on a half a pill twice daily and they are very cheap pills through the vet.  The old vet did the same bloodwork and never brought that up, there were chasing phantom diabetes that my new vet has said there is no reason to suspect.

These guys are just out to gauge you every chance they get. They prey on unsuspecting pet owners in their times of need, and if you dare to question them or their expensive treatments they say you shouldn't be cheap and should do what the doctor says. Even though that doctor only runs in the room for a few seconds, mixes up information between your animals if you bring in multiple at once, and then takes lots of extra days off.  My wife and I had vets we trusted for many years until we moved to the area.  This was the closest place when I needed to get my dogs in somewhere fast to get them shots to stay on base.  I should have looked further and asked friends like I eventually did.

I can't think of any redeeming quality of this place and will highly recommend everyone stays away until they shutter their business.

  • He did an excellent job  and when Mollie or pet Schnauzer had to go to the ER in Towson, he called me the very next
day and did a follow up.  She is doing great thanks to Dr. Dougherty.

  • I love them. They are extremely personal and they are great people. They are available. They do a lot of background information. I have a 14 year old dog and they deal with him very well. They take good care of him when I can't be here. It is very personal service. It is $20 for one dog and $25 for two.

  • Our ultra social dog LOVES this place, can't wait to go back! The owner really cares about the animals. As of 2013, the owner will no longer provide bathing/grooming, but her reasonable rates more than cover a trip to the groomer. Responsiveness is rated good instead of excellent because the owner is often busy attending to the boarded dogs and must return calls as time permits. There are a lot of repeat customers, so during the summer it would be important to book well in advance.

  • Things went very well. The cats seemed to be happy, the dishes were clean, the litter was clean and the water bowls were full. I was very pleased. I know she plays with the cats because the toys are out. That's very important to me; I don't want them to be bored and lonely when I'm gone.

  • It was my dog's first time being groomed. She was scared and nervous, but the groomer was very patient and nice. My dog had a thick coat of hair, and was shedding badly. After my dog's grooming, she hardly had any loose hair on her. She looked great. I will be taking my dog back.

  • This was our 2nd time boarding our dog at this kennel. She is a very fearful and nervous dog and everyone there seems to be very comfortable handling her, and catering to her special needs with diet as she has a lot of food allergies and sensitivities. We dropped her off on a Tuesday night. I called twice to check up on her and both times received very descriptive updates. When she refused to eat the first couple days, the owner Julie gave her a and quot;specialand quot; meal from her own frozen raw supplies, and you know how all dogs love to get something new. She never had a problem eating after that and she weighed the same amount when I got her home as she did when I dropped her off. Also, I was really thankful that when I picked her up, the owner was honest enough to tell me that a dog that had been there with ours had a confirmed case of kennel cough and gave me some literature to read so I could keep an eye out for it. Well, I suspect they may have known that she had it because she was coughing that evening after I got her home. I promptly took her to the Vet the next day and started on an anti-biotic and cough suppressant. Per my Vet, the vaccine doesn't protect against all strains and they were seeing a lot of untreated cases turning in to pneumonia so I was glad I took her right away. I had selected Bowwag three years ago for my mother's dog after touring many kennels in the area. I was thoroughly impressed at how clean the place was and how there was no odor of dogs, even back in the kennel area. I am really glad they were honest with me and I didn't take Inca anywhere on the way home where she could have infected other dogs. The only reason I didn't rate the overall experience as Excellent is because the kennel I used to use when I lived elsewhere had luxury conditions that no kennel can compare to, but overall it was a very good experience. Lastly I will add that the price my seem very low, but it was for a medium kennel versus a large kennel, and they also did not charge me the $8 per day for 2 play times outside, but that's a another personal story :)

  • A great experience! My cats took to Susan right away. She is very friendly, prompt, efficient, and professional. Very diligent about stayiing in contact with the customer. Her paperwork is very concise and she makes sure to obtain vet information, learn about any needed medications, etc

She came twice a day; fed, watered, gave treats, and spent time with the cats. Cleaned litter boxes daily. She fed, watered, talked to and covered the birds at night and uncovered them in the morning. She volunteered to water plants and bring in mail. I am already planning to call her again in December. Prices are very reasonable. She loves animals and it shows. I know she also cares for dogs and along with feeding and watering, plays with them and walks them. She will administer medications and take them to the vet if the need arises. You can definitely trust your pets with her.

  • We depend on their expertise to keep our four cats healthy. Their caring is very important to us. The staff relates well to the animals and we think the world of them. They are very professional and courteous.
