House Painting reviews in Jefferson

Randy Ellis, owner of Ellis Painting in Jefferson, came to my home and spent 1.5 hours surveying the house and listening to what I wanted. He offered several suggestion as to how to go about the job. He then offered a bid price on the job, but as I was familiar with the quality of his work from several jobs he has done inside and outside my home, we agreed for him to work "by the hour".
Randy sprayed the cedar siding of my house, garage and screened porch with a bleach solution to clean it in preparation for re-staining. He then removed ALL the caulk on every joint on the entire outside of my house and re-caulked with QUAD caulk, a high-grade caulk. Then re-staining began and everything was hand brushed with stain.
At the end of every day Randy let me know when he would arrive the next day and he was always on time. He worked all day with minimal breaks and was very tidy. His workmanship was very professional and he came in under time and under budget.
I certainly recommend Ellis Painting for any painting job inside or outside their home. When my home's siding needs cleaning and/or re-staining again. Randy will be my first phone call.

An absolutely superb job.  This was not an easy task.  On the first day a crew arrived and did the prep work; primarily to protect the screens that are very close to the railings.  A crew of up to 4 worked for the next 3 days in weather that was a bit chilly to get the job done. No day labor here.  Don and every crew member was skilled and meticulous.  We chose Mr. Painbrush due the the honest advise and lack of hype.  We were a bit reluctant to go with the lowest estimate.  In this case it really paid off.

PROFESSIONAL FROM THE WORD GO! George's Painting was the third and last estimate I received from Angie's List "A" contractors. They agreed to come up to Frederick County although it was not listed within their service area. Originally, we had a slight mix up in scheduling the estimate, and Anthony, the GM was quick with an apology and told me that I will not regret rescheduling the appointment. HE WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. George the owner and Anthony came out to provide an estimate the very next day and they provided me that estimate as I waited, with a follow-up by email. Their estimate was two and three times less the other estimates I had received. George broke the estimate out between labor and paint giving me the option of purchasing the paint myself which I elected to do. I was told it would take two days to paint the ceilings, walls and trim with two coats, approximately 1700 square feet, in my family room, kitchen, three hall ways, three stairwells, 20' foyer and a bathroom. Labor was $2350.00. ( Paint estimate using McCormick?s Paint was approximately $500.00). He also glazed and painted my exterior front portico and column which was priced separately at $325.00. At the last minute, I added some minor carpentry, painting of the ceiling and trim in my laundry room, plus some dry wall work in my basement. George agreed to do the extra work for an additional $475, well worth it! I elected to purchase my own paint, so Anthony calculated how much paint I needed to purchase. Their estimate was right on, so there was very little waste, with enough paint for future touch ups when and if needed. I went with Benjamin Moore paint which was very expensive, but George suggested that I let him purchase the ceiling paint form McCormick, because he did not believe I needed to spend $50.00 a gallon for ceiling paint. He told me for walls, Benjamin Moore is the best, but that I did not need to use it for the ceiling. So at $20.00 a gallon, George saved me a significant amount of money in the end. The total job, including $900.00 of Benjamin Moore Paint which I purchased separately, was $4155.00. The ceilings look great by the way! Day One arrived, George promptly arrived with a crew of 4 at 7:00 A.M. I reviewed all the work with George and his crew quickly went to work. They prepped all the walls, including repairing all the nail pops, and filling any settlement cracks, anchor holes and nail holes. The painting began. Their work is superb! They wrapped up their day at 3:00 p.m. Day two, George and Anthony arrived with a crew of 6 at about 6:45, but waited in their vehicles until 7:00 A.M.to start the day. At 7:00 the crew got busy moving and covering furniture and flooring. George and I discussed the work for the day. The dry wall work is seamless. The carpentry work was well done. The painting was beautiful. On day 2, the men worked from 7am to 4:30pm. The foreman, Orlando, was constantly going around the rooms doing touch ups to make their end result beautiful. Most of the crew spoke Spanish with little English, but this was not a deterrent. Orlando was prompt for translations and the men quickly addressed any issues which might have arisen. The men who work for George?s Painting are skilled and clearly take pride in their work. Upon completion, on both days, they dusted, swept and vacuumed, and completely picked up after themselves. Except for the smell of paint, you wouldn't have known they had been in the house once they left. The crews on both days we bright and happy. They worked well together. The end result of George?s Painting is GEORGEOUS. I will use them again for any of my general contractor needs, including painting. George?s Painting guarantees their work for 9 months and will come back at anytime during that period to touch up and or correct any work they did at no charge. I will refer business to them without hesitation.
