Auto Repair reviews in Indian Head

They are apparently the only AAA licensed auto service shop in Charles County. They did an excellent job with the diagnosis of the problem and they also found other deteriorating parts in our car. They did a thorough look and suggested other corrections to our vehicle. They didn't have the typical auto mechanic upsell thing. I trusted them and found they were being honest about everything that they said and did. AAA members get discounts there too.

We purchased a car from the Laurel MD branch a little over a year ago. At time of purchase we also purchased the MaxCare package so that if any repairs were needed we would only pay a small deductible rather than an expensive repair bill. since the time of purchase Carmax has opened a new location much closer to our home in Brandywine MD. we tried to take the car to this location when it needed repair. However when we went by on a Monday to make an appointment we were informed that the first open appointment wasn't until Tuesday 2 weeks later and the service department isn't open on weekends when all the government workers that live in the area are off work. The repair that was needed was a bad wheel bearing that was making the car unsafe to drive, so that was unacceptable. The woman at this branch called over to the Woodbridge branch for me, as I work not too far from there so I could get the car to Woodbridge easy enough. They had an open appointment for the following Monday that we booked. We dropped the car off in WoodBridge Sunday afternoon so that it would be there on Monday for the appointment. Now in the defense of CarMax it did snow that Monday so many people did not make it into work that day. However this lead to a chain reaction. Apparently when it snows they move all the cars for sale into the service garage so they can clear the lot and this takes a full day. So now my car is not 1 but 2 days behind getting looked at. Ok I understand the weather is out of their control but their solution to getting my car looked at is not to open the service department on a saturday ort sunday, or stay open a little bit later the next few days to catch back up, or even to do the smart thing and try to reschedule the basic oil change or maintenance appointments. Their solution is to call and tell me that the appointment for my car that was unsafe to drive will need to be pushed to Wednesday of the next week. This of course was not acceptable as both my husband and I work so he was currently driving a rental car while his car was in the shop. After getting upset and speaking to a service manager I was assured that my car would be looked at by Thursday or Friday of the week it snowed, however when they called me Friday afternoon to tell me they had indeed looked at the car and that I was right it had a bad wheel bearing and they would need to order the part, the part conveniently came in on Monday but was the wrong part so it had to be reordered. The correct part came in on Wednesday and I was called Thursday afternoon and told I could pick the car up that day. so I still ended up having to wait till the end of the following week due to 1 day of snow that had melted off within 2 days anyway. Oh and while the car was there I had also asked them to look into a recall that had been issued on the car. They informed me since Carmax was not a specific brand dealership they couldn't do any recall work. My guess is because its free work and no one wants to do free work. All in all CarMax doesn't make logical decisions in problem solving, purchasing their and quot;hassle freeand quot; care package doesn't give you any real advantages so save your money and take it to a real dealership.
