    Diversified Contractors LLC
Contracted with Diversified Contractors, LLC to install a front patio, retaining wall & low voltage riser lights in spring of 2016. Personal contacts included Doug A. Barahona (Co-owner, Resident Agent & Project Mgr); Julio (Stone & Lighting worker); & Bryan M. Guiffre (Acct Executive). Seven (7) months after work was completed, the wall lighting system malfunctioned repeatedly. Diversified prolonged remedying the defective lighting system they chose & improperly installed. This was diagnosed by a certified electrical contracting company. In spite of urgings to address the problem by 2 TV consumer advocate divisions (Ch 7's "7 On-Your-Side" & Ch 4's "NBC Responds), Diversified Reps procrastinated for months causing me to pursue legal action. 4/2017, I filed with the MD Dist Ct a complaint. 7/2017, The court issued a judgment & ruling against Diversified Contractors, LLC for Breach of Contract & Failure to act in a responsible manner in honoring its contractual duties & obligations under the warranty. Damages Assessed.

    Avalos Stone and Landscape
I took off work early to meet Alvaro Monterroso at my home. He was 30 minutes late and did not call. I explained what I needed, but he began to talk to me about repaving my porch and steps with brick and stone. We got back to what I actually wanted and I scribbled down three options with prices. I asked him to produce a detailed written estimate so that I could share it with my husband. I gave him my email so he could send the estimate. It's been almost a month and I've heard nothing from him. I'm very disappointed!

    CIMINELLI'S LANDSCAPE SERVICES INC
Ciminelli's did an awesome job installing a new 35' x 5' flagstone walkway. They were able to perfectly match the stone and style of a stoop and steps installed the previous year. Ciminelli is a safe pick if you are looking for an experienced contractor and a hassle free experience. Ciminelli also did an awesome job installing the previous driveway, which took approximately 4 days. The work crew arrived on the scheduled time frame and completed the project within the scheduled time frame.

    Avalos Stone and Landscape
From start to finish, Lester Avalos and his team were great to work with.  Customer satisfaction is priority number one for the owner and his team.  Now that the project is complete, I love my new yard and have received numerous compliments from my neighbors.  I plan on using the company in the future to build a fence and pergola!

    The Sharper Cut Inc
July 7, 2015: This updates the results of the work reviewed below.  During the spring and early summer of 2015, we have had weeks of rain, more than four inches a month for the last three or four months, raining day after day.  This is the ultimate test of the drainage solution, and I am happy to report there are no ponds  or lakes in my yard.  The drainage is a major success.  I contracted with Sharper Cut to create a landscape design, and the first phase (hardscape) will begin soon.  I cannot recommend this company more highly.

October 20, 2014: I contacted three companies.  All got good scores on Angie's, and I did look for companies that had done large jobs.  One gave me  an estimate for ill-defined work that would clearly not have addressed the drainage issue facing my yard and would have allowed them to do just about anything, including a dirt ditch for the money.  When I wrote them asking for specificity in the contract, they ignored me, and when I contacted them again, in the same email chain with the list right there, they asked what my problem was.  I work with contracts: the problem was a single sentence saying they would put in a drain and remove concrete steps.  Another company told me they wouldn't consider working unless the work was, upfront, at least $2,000, eventually stating they were too busy--at least that was getting to honesty.
When I met with Sharper Cut, they saw right away the issue with the lack of slope in my yard and proposed I hire a civil engineer do a design that addressed elevation.  They recommended one, who I think did an excellent job.
The CivTech civil engineers obtained the elevations of my yard and designed the drainage system to work with the lay of the land. This cost $1,925 in addition to the Sharper Cut contract, well worth it.
Sharper Cut then worked with the engineer to modify the design to bring price down somewhat.  They were responsive to my request to further clarify the contract  in a couple of tasks.
Drainage installed is underground French drain (pipes and gravel), with backflow protection, connecting all downspouts, drains leading to an underground dry well that has overflow drain off.  Yard was re-graded and replanted.
In addition, I contracted to have the concrete driveway and front and side sidewalks replaced as they were deteriorated, and to have concrete steps removed and replaced with an entrance deck.  Sharper Cut designed the deck style to work with an existing, separate deck.  The walk and drive look great.
Sharper Cut was responsive, paid attention to detail, had good communication, and followed up more than once to make sure everything is working as designed. Based on their performance, I am having Sharper Cut come back for a design for planting for my yard.  I cannot recommend them more highly.

    Avalos Stone and Landscape
We own a historic home with a lot of yard...almost 2 acres. We've been using Lester to do our yard work for the past two years. He and his workers have removed all the invasive vines from the property, installed new flower beds and mulch around the trees, and installed a gravel stone driveway. He is currently finishing up a brick pathway. The old path was not graded properly and the bricks were heaving and were pretty ugly. Our house is nearly 200 years old and we wanted to replace the ugly brick with antique brick that would better match our house. Lester and his team removed the ugly brick, regraded and properly installed the new (antique) brick path. it looks awesome and we couldn't be happier with the work. I forgot to mention that he also removed badly constructed wood steps that went to the basement and installed stone steps using old chiseled granite we found on the property.
The work that Avalos Stone and Landscaping has done over the past two years has increased the value of our property. it looks beautiful and we look forward to working with Lester in the future. A new stone patio and grape arbor are next on our list.

I saw Mr Rivas sign on his truck and thought I would call him for an estimate.  He scheduled a time to come over. He was right on time. He looked at the whole job and gave me ideas for things to do. He had catalogues with different types and colors of pavers.  He gave me options for designs.  He said he would check prices at different suppliers and get back to me with a price.  I am working with the county to get a rebate for removing concrete and installing permeable pavers, so I chose that option. He negotiated with the supplier to get the more expensive permeable pavers at the same price as regular pavers. The proposal he emailed me was detailed and explained everything he was going to do.  When the job was supposed to start, it poured down rain for a week and he was unable to start.  When the rain stopped, he was here every day for 8 days. All of his workers worked very hard and did a very professional job. The job required digging up most of the grass in the front yard, which was in bad condition anyway. He put dirt, grass seed and straw down to repair it.  He offered to come back next spring to do any more repair needed to the grass. They did everything they said they were going to do.  I was very impressed at his concern for doing a quality job.  I couldn't see where they cut any corners.  The county had to come out and inspect the job to make sure it complied with the qualifications for the rebate.  The inspector said they were doing a very good job.  Mr. Rivas is a very personable man and will work very hard to make sure you get the results you want.  I will definitely use him again in the future.

They were FANTASTIC--it couldn't have been any better!  The crew chief, Neil Brown, is simply outstanding--he's extremely knowledgeable, does all he can to help the customer understand the process (and keep the cost down), and he stays right on top of the whole operation to make sure everything is done right, down to the very last detail.  Also, the workers show up on time, they are smiling when they show up and smiling when they leave, they work harder than anyone I've ever seen, and they are the most polite people I've met in about 30 years--in the week they were at my house, every sentence that any of them said to me included the word "Ma'am," as in, "Ma'am, may we borrow your trowel?"  It was a real pleasure to have them there!  While having your basement dug up isn't exactly one of life's great joys, they made it all go so smoothly--and when they departed, they left my property spotlessly clean, with not so much as a stray piece of gravel left behind. I would absolutely recommend this company to ANYBODY who needs this type of work done, and I would DEFINITELY use them again, anytime!  They are simply THE BEST!
