Alfredo and Chris did outstanding work around my house's exterior - 4 solid days of work July 2020. They were prompt and professional, with coronavirus safety-distancing and masks, and worked very hard even though the temps were 90+ degrees every day! Excellent work, and I will request them again for my Fall repairs. Thank you!

    Capital Masonry LLC
My old brick patio was losing mortar between the bricks and becoming treacherous. My front flagstone walk needed repair. Capital Masonry repaired the sidewalk and completely resurfaced the patio with beautiful flagstone in just 2 days. Their 4 person team, a topnotch stone mason and three helpers, worked tirelessly and competently. The result for both projects is outstanding. I couldn't be more delighted. Their bill for the project was exceptionally reasonable; their workmen diligent and pleasant; and the owner, Mike Cadle, super conscientious and attentive to every detail. They're topnotch craftsmen and I recommend them very highly.

    Capital Masonry LLC
Mike and Garrett were fantastic to work with. Our front stairs are quite long (42 steps from carport to front door, with a landing) and had been coming part. They explained the job well in advance and we very flexible with scheduling. They completed the job on time and for the price quoted. The crew was professional, courteous and hard working. Definitely recommend and will absolutely use again.

    Independence Landscape & Lawn Care
We were very pleased with Independence. Mark worked closely with us from the initial site visit through the design and implementation, communicating consistently along the way and being very flexible to make sure our needs were met. Independence went out of their way to make sure the project was not disruptive to our next door neighbors. The working relationship was a good balance of Independence offering their experience and expertise, and also listening and accommodating our ideas. Pablo and his crew were great to work with, and left the site neat at the end of every day. We were very satisfied with the finished product and would recommend Independence.

Xtra Care Landscaping & Design INC
We hired Xtra Care to help us renovate our backyard, build a new deck, and install a new retaining wall, plus install some plants appropriate for the shade level of the yard, and build a walkway to address erosion of the soil along the side of our house. From our first encounter with Cleber, the owner, we were eager to work with them. Cleber had many ideas about how to better use the space we had (which wasn't much) and how we could accomplish our goals of having a space to sit, a space to eat, and a space to cook and grill outside. His enthusiasm and creative thinking helped us immensely. Angela's drawings and proposal arrived very promptly after our first conversation. We booked the 3D rendering as an additional option so we'd get a sense of what we were going to achieve with the space and their ideas. It was a smooth and interactive process; Angela took our questions and suggestions and modified the plans to better accommodate our goals, and I really appreciated the customer input form they include so they have a sense of what customers want before they begin. The process of digging out the yard, installing the new wall, the plants, and the deck, was addressed by three teams of people. CJ's team was taking on the hardscaping, and they were all meticulous with keeping the area as neat as possible, and with making sure the gates were closed afterward to keep our dogs inside. Diego's team installed the deck and demolished the old one, and I really appreciated that his crew reattached the old side stairs from the old deck to the back of the house so we and the dogs could get in and out safely. Tim's team took on the plant relocation (we had some hydrangeas we wanted to move, along with some yews and some hostas) and they were quick, considerate, and meticulous as well. Our experience was terrific from start to finish. Despite weather delays, supply delays due to the pandemic, and coordinating all the different pieces of the proposal, the project took only a few weeks, and we are so very happy with our new deck space. We have probably tripled the amount of usable space in our back yard. Xtra Care did a phenomenal job, and we'll hire them again to address our front yard and driveway area in the future.

    East Coast Landscape Design
Mark came out and surveyed the drainage problems that we were having that were causing flooding in our yard and threatening our house. He proposed a very robust solution that provided protection for our home and provided a really nice look for naturally correcting the problem. The team who did the work were great - they worked with Mark and I to implement the best solution to remedy the flooding and provide the best appearing solution. They re-shaped the yard, brought in dirt, built retaining walls, put down sod, put down river stone, and installed drain boxes and piping to control the rain water.

Xtra Care Landscaping & Design INC
We spent dozens and dozens of hours researching contractors. Save yourself a lot of time, meet with Cleber and CJ, and hire XtraCare. We have done a few renovations - interior and exterior - and this was by far our easiest, most hands-off project with the most stunning results. We worked with a landscape designer to design our backyard. She recommended XtraCare because the work, which required leveling a very steep and large backyard, was complex and because she had experience working with them in the past. I met with three contractors; the proposal from Cleber/XtraCare and my other top tier contractor were nearly the same which said to me that the proposal was the market rate. (My third proposal came from what I called my “cowboy” who was a one-man shop, working out of his truck and often hard to track down. His proposal was lower but I would have to manage everything if I went with him.). Based on my conversations with Cleber, I realized XtraCare would take care of everything, with little oversight and a priority on communication. This is exactly what we got. The excellent service started even before we signed the contract. The proposal was itemized and easy to follow and Cleber made himself available to speak about the proposal and my questions on a number of occasions. He also came to my home three times to ensure he got everything right in the proposal because again, this was a complicated projects with multiple retaining walls, over 50+ tons (yes, tons) of boulder, multiple walkways, and lots and lots of block and soil. Looking back, everything that Cleber anticipated was right. For example, he anticipated that our deck posts would need replacing so he was able to quote us that replacement on the proposal, with no charge until we know exactly what we were working with. Likewise, if he gets the poundage of boulders wrong, your account will be created which eased my mind (I thought 50 tons of boulders was crazy; I was wrong. We used 52). That sort of experience with drafting proposals is mutually beneficial as there were no surprises and I could anticipate how much this would cost at the end. After we signed, Mari was such a pleasure to work with. She handled our DC RiverSmart permeable paver application and refund, in addition to finalizing colors of the patio and walkways. When I was on the fence about colors, she worked with Angela to create a three color design between patio, borders and walls that added texture and interest to the landscape. Our project started in August 2020 which was easily one of the rainiest months I can remember. Like these things go, surprises always happen but we were prepared. Upon excavation under the deck, we uncovered 9 rotting deck posts (installed incorrectly by a previous owner and national deck building company!) but Cleber already anticipated this. The rain slowed the project down but the guys worked as much as they could with the weather, and even when they couldn’t work “on” the project, they were thinking about how to move it forward by bringing material on rainy days. Overall, XtraCare built about 7 retaining walls of different sizes including a beautiful curved one that requires DCRA inspection, five different walkways, two patio areas, five stair cases connecting various areas, and a permeable paver driveway. They laid out 52 tons of boulders to create two organic-looking retaining walls, laid out five pallets of sod, and cut and mulched a number of flower beds in this space. Our foreman Markus was really great, experienced, attentive to detail, and unafraid to ask me questions. CJ the project manager texted, called or stopped by nearly every day to manage the project and my expectations. Everyday, the crew left the place neat and tidy and every day, they worked their tails off and made progress on the project. Lastly, I didn’t feel nickeled and dimes the entire time like I have with previous renovations. XtraCare is focused on getting things right and making things look good, instead of opportunities for constant change orders like other contractors seem to do. In the end, the project took nearly three full months and was well worth the wait. It is stunning! We would recommend XtraCare in a heartbeat to anyone.

Xtra Care Landscaping & Design INC
Xtra Landscaping was amazing to work with. I actually contacted them 4 years ago but the project was out of my budget at that point. I spoke to other landscapers, cement companies, etc, but no one was able to match their pricing and level of communication. They had a CAD drawing for me after our first conversation and when I went back 4 years later they had it on file. Everything was easy and smooth. CJ was our foreman--the guy would NOT leave me alone communicating. It was hilarious. And Tim, the landscaper, was hilarious and walked me through it all. I would highly recommend--don't think twice. I know I did and I wish I hadn't!

It went fantastic!!! The owner, Chad, was always professional, friendly and striving to please us. He answered all our questions, including those we posed as the project progressed. Addressed any and all requests. The company's landscapers and masonry workers delivered exceptionally high quality work. I will reach out to them to perform other work for me in the future.

VM Drainage & Erosion Solution LLC
Mr. Robey and his team did an excellent work installing drains, grading and installing rocks to solve the drainage and erosion problems we had in our backyard. Communication was great and he gave us a proposal with different options that would resolve the drainage problems. The job was done in two days and the areas where the grass was removed was replanted with sod when the work was finished. He personally inspected the work done and did some more grading of the soil so that it would drain better. We would highly recommend VM drainage and erosion solutions. They are very professional and do an excellent work. Thank you Mr. Robey and your team!
