    Koj construction
Very well. Kerron is a very good worker. He has done work for me before. I'm always pleased with the outcome. I never have to call him back to redo his work. He gets it right the first time. I would highly recommend him to others.

    Barratt Construction
All went really, really well. David & Peter did a fantastic job, their crew was professional and focused and I was really happy with simply everything. In the past, the remodel jobs I had done, the finish work was kind of junky. I learned that finishings are really the major part of a job. Anyone can knock down a wall. I always admired houses where you can look around you and see quality and how precise and clean the job is. I never had that experience until now. It just looks so nice. It's a joy to walk into the house with the confidence that everything was done right. So happy with everything. Everyone who sees my house loves-loves-loves it. Was the project problem free? Heck no. Expect problems. The most important thing I learned over decades of remodeling is how does the contractor respond to those problems, can I communicate concerns/ideas and will the contractor receive it well and respect where I'm coming from. David and Peter addressed all of the issues that came up promptly and they respected my input. This was a major project for me. It wasn't cheap, but it was well done and I have not had any problems whatsoever since they finished. I am just so glad it was not a situation like it was in the past for me where you have profound issues with your contractor by the end of the job. It was a great experience and I could not recommend them highly enough!

    Bowlin Home Improvements LLC
We hired Dave to do quite a lot of work to our new home, and we're very satisfied with the final outcome. Bowlin home replaced our rear deck and fence, painted our home's exterior and garage, and installed an area of cedar siding on the front of the house. There were some setbacks during the course of all the work, but Dave was always available, and ready to work with us to solve whatever issue came up. We are very pleased with the craftsmanship of all of that was done as well, and we feel like no other company would have been able to deliver custom construction of this quality at this price. Thank you, Dave!

    Torres Construction
I would highly recommend Torres Construction for your home renovation needs. I met with Jose' to discuss the repairs and improvements needed for my elderly Mother's home. She needed new back porch steps, a safety hand rail, a completely new front porch with new posts and metal railing, a new walkway from the sidewalk to the porch, and three new doors. All of this work was completed in the timeframe we agreed upon and in a very professional manner. As I could only visit and review the progress of the job once or sometimes twice a week, it was nice to know that I could count on the crew to get the work done without my constant supervision. I communicated with Jose' via phone, text, and email whenever necessary and he was very responsive. The work was done for the price quoted without any surprise charges. They even spread grass seed over the area of the lawn around the new sidewalk. I would not hesitate to call Torres Construction for future projects.

    John Krause Construction
To be completely upfront, I should first make it clear that I did not have any work done, my comments are strictly based on the estimate/initial home visit. I also want to start with a few positive things that I did like about this encounter. First, I believe this business is based in Southern Maryland or someplace well outside the beltway, so I greatly appreciated that he drove all the way to my home just for an estimate. Secondly, I appreciated that he showed up on time, which is important for me as I have a bit of a tight work schedule. Lastly, I should note that he did seem to know his stuff, and understood what I wanted to have done. But here are the concerning things: First, as soon as he arrived, he immediately began pointing out other issues that were not directly related to the porch, such as noticing that some of the trim around one of my upstairs windows was rotting, and that there were a couple of missing shingles on my roof (gee thanks, I also have a hole in my left sock, want to talk about that too?). This really wasn't a major issue, but it was an immediate indication that he was fishing for extra projects. Later, after assessing the kind of work that would need to be done to the porch, he quoted me $18k, which at first appeared fairly reasonable. But after asking a few more questions, I learned that this estimate would not include any of the paperwork necessary for required permits, or even a drawling/sketch. He recommended that I do the paperwork/permit myself if I wanted to keep the price at 18k. I asked him how much more he would charge if I took care of everything except for the required drawling, he said that alone would cost an additional $2,000! By this point, I was getting a little nervous and wanted to make sure I had the specifics nailed down. So I asked if he would provide me the price in writing. He immediately said that he would not provide anything in writing, and that if I had any doubts about his work, I should look at the reviews on angles list! I don't care if someone has a 1,000 positive reviews, any contractor worth your business should always provide you an estimate in writing, and they should be completely upfront about any additional costs. Perhaps he's good at what he does, maybe I would have loved his work, but it's just not worth the risk.

    We Restore Decks
Contract signed 18 April 2016 with one third payment paid in amount of $850. Two carpenters , one named (Mickey) came on 10 May 2016 and rebuilt two sections of stairs. Stairs outside of my kitchen door and second stair on side of my deck. They were given second check for $825. . First week of June 2016 Alberto came to nail loose boards and stain deck. I called Jonathan back as sections of deck was warped and some sections of deck stain were missed. The carpenters also did not replace my latus on each side of the stairs outside of my kitchen door. Alberto came back to touch up on the stains. I pointed out a spit new board from my side stairs. He took a picture and measurements. Jonathan was to replace and paint stair board and latus. Jonathan and another worker came to my home on Saturday June 25, 2016 to complete the job. I looked out of my window and saw the worker putting eight nails in split nail board. I went out and questioned what was happening. Jonathan admitted he forgot to bring another new board but this was his resolution. I told him I wanted the new board. I asked him to bring the new board back on Monday and he would receive his final check. He refused. He became verbally abusive and even called me silly. He stated "I only charged you $2,500". I asked him to leave my property multiple times. He stated he wanted his payment. My two grown sons came out of my house and one spoke to him and asked him to leave as well because I was so upset. I asked the other worker to put the split nail board back in place, paid Jonathan his last check and asked him to leave my property. I felt threatened and afraid. I was going to call the police if he did not leave my property. I paid him to make him leave. The board step still looks of poor repair. Jonathan cashed my last check $825. I hope no one else has to go through this type of experience from a contractor on their own property. I took multiple pictures .

Mel's Power Washing & Window Cleaning Inc
Excellent. Have an old deck and the cleaning makes it look almost new. Mel's took care of all the annoying nails that have been sticking out and even fixed a loose part of the railing. I didn't have to be home, which was nice due to busy work schedule.

    GO Contractors Group LTD
It started out well. The owner arrived on time for first appointment. He was friendly, personable and professional. He provided me with quotes for all work and offered a discount (10%) on jobs not part of the Angie's Deal  (deck stairs and front walkway).  A disappointment to note, he indicated that sealing and staining the deck stairs to match the rest of the deck could not be done at that time, and he didn't seem interested in doing it.I received a written proposal by the end of the day. Unfortunately, it didn't break down the individual quotes for each specific job, which made it challenging to compare to my notes. It seemed to match the information I had. The owner and workers showed up on time to start the job. The workers were polite and professional. From there things changed. The plan to demo the walkway, driveway and deck stairs at the same time was not a good idea.  Unfortunately, it made it extremely difficult to get to the house. I was away for much of the week, but it was an issue for people like the mail carrier. Something that should have been considered by the contractor. The caution tape placed across the front walkway wasn't secured well (it was tied to the hedges that bordered the walkway), and it came down. The cement didn't dry ask quickly as I was told. Also, the owner didn't mention during the estimate that the cement wouldn't match the original color (more of an issue with the driveway). Following the work, there were cement stains in many places on the curb, surrounding sidewalk, part of driveway not replaced, and in the grass. There was also stains from the cement truck water run off that went down the street to my neighbors property. I was surprised and disappointed about the mess. Also after the cement dried, they didn't even return to remove the caution tape. Later I learned that someone walked on the top part of the walkway before it dried. The contractor tried to repair it by recovering it, but used a color that was darker. It didn't cover the footprints and left the walkway two colors. The repair only made a bad thing worse. Further, I wasn't told about it until I asked why that section was darker.  I also noticed an issue with the deck stairs that I wanted to discuss. At the top of the new side piece, it looked like the wood split when it was attached.  I contacted the contractor on 12/20/14 about the front walkway, the cement color, and the strength of the deck stairs. He responded and led me to believe the cement color would lighten and the stairs were sturdy. I spoke with him by phone later, and he assured me the same. In terms of the deck stairs, he said he used to quality wood. Well, the color didn't lighten, and since the stairs weren't sealed, they began to warp and split after a few months.  I contacted him again a week later about the worst issue, the front walkway, and sent pictures. He promise to look at it and didn't. I contacted him again about it, and he premised again to come by and didn't. I didn't hear from him after that.
